The Hazard of Bulglarly The hazard of burglary has significant impacts on people and the
environment in which they live, and these can be identified easily.
Consequently this hazard can be prevented and/ or managed effectively.
A hazard is an event that affects or threatens people or property.
Burglary is a common, frequently occurring hazard. Burglary is the
unauthorised entry into a building as a trespasser in order to steal.
An offence of burglary is recorded by the police if a person enters
any building as a trespasser with intent to commit an offence of
theft, rape, GBH, or unlawful damage. Burglary does not necessarily
involve forced entry. The 2001 British Crime Survey (BSC) estimates
that there were a total of 1,063,000 burglaries against domestic
properties in the year 2000. The majority of burglaries occur in urban
areas and are less frequent in rural areas.
Burglary has many different types of impacts on people and the
surrounding environment, these are not always easy to identify as
people are reluctant to admit any emotional upset, especially males.
One of these impacts is the cost of burglary. The mean cost of
burglary in 1998 was £1416. The factors that affect this cost the most
are property stolen, damage to inside of property and damage to
outside of property. Burglary also increases the cost of the
individuals home insurance and if the problem is reoccurring the
insurance premiums for the whole area will increase as a result of
this. The most common goods to be stolen are electrical goods and
cash, one of the main effects of burg...

Finally marking property with a pen which can be read under
ultraviolet light is an effective way of increasing the chance that
stolen property may be returned to the owner if recovered by the
police. Simple common mistakes are also a cause of burglary which can
easily be prevented such as having large amounts of cash on display or
within the property, leaving car keys on display and leaving doors
unlocked. These can easily be avoided and will prevent a sneak-in
burglar from easily removing expensive property such as cars.
Overall burglary is a common problem which can be managed and even
prevented by spending a small amount of money on security devices such
as a burglar alarm and strong door locks. Increasing awareness of the
problem also decreases burglary numbers.
The Bubonic Plague DBQ Sweeping through Western Europe during the fourteenth century, the Bubonic Plague wiped out nearly one third of the population and did not regard: status, age or even gender. All of this occurred as a result of a single fleabite. Bubonic Plague also known as Black Death started in Asia and traveled to Europe by ships. The Plague was thought to be spread by the dominating empire during this time, the Mongolian Empire, along the Silk Road. The Bubonic Plague was an infectious disease spread by fleas living on rats, which can be easily, be attached to traveler to be later spread to a city
One of the largest epidemic events in history, the Bubonic Plague had a devastating effect on European society. It is believed to have begun in China, and it reached European soil in 1347, when it struck Constantinople (Document 1). It was carried by infected fleas that spread the disease between humans and rats. A symptom of the plague was the development of large, dark swellings called “buboes” on the victim’s lymph nodes. By the time the plague left, Europe’s population had been reduced by almost half. The devastation as a result of the plague may seem shocking, but there were several important factors that contributed to its deadliness.
It has been called “the greatest catastrophe ever.” That statement was made in reference to the Black Death which was one of many bubonic plague epidemics. Throughout history, the bubonic plague proved itself to be an extremely lethal disease. Outbreaks of the bubonic plague were devastating because of the stunning number of deaths in each of the populations it reached. The Black Death was the worst epidemic and disaster of the bubonic plague in all of history. The Black Death refers to a period of several years in which affected populations were decimated. The bubonic plague is a disease started by bacteria. The disease has horrible symptoms, and most of the victims die after getting the plague. The bubonic plague spread easily between different areas of people. The Black Death was not the first epidemic of the bubonic plague; there was another outbreak several hundred years before. It is important to understand the history of the bubonic plague and reflect upon the Black Death because plague outbreaks can still occur today.
The Black Death, also known as the Bubonic Plague is perhaps the greatest and horrifying tragedies to have ever happened to humanity. The Plague was ferocious and had such a gruesome where people would die in such a morbid fashion that today we are obsessed with this subject.
Compare and contrast the theories of Merton and Agnew in how they would explain the crime of burglary.
In the 21st century, crimes have been and remains as one of the post-major threats towards
Late Medieval Europe was a very different time from what Europe is today. It was a time where social mobility was unthinkable; people lived in fear of their creator, and were always trying to please their creator. In addition, Medieval Europe was an unhealthy and unhygienic state, where sickness and disease was rampant. It was a place where women had little to no rights, and minority groups were frequently falsely accused of many problems that were out of their control. For example, they were blamed for drought, which usually resulted in their unjust persecution because they “angered” God. Overall, Europe was the last place one would want to live unless you were of the nobility. On the other hand, Europe was also a major trading power, engaging
Under common law some many years ago, burglary was the breaking and entering of a dwelling during the night for the purposes of committing a felony or a larceny (Bernasco and Luykx 2003). Under common law, there were a couple reasons for this specific definition of burglary. First, as Bernasco put it, breaking is the act of creating an opening by disabling any part of the dwelling meant to serve as a prevention tool against intrusion. Secondly, nighttime was an important element of burglary by common law standards; law-makers viewed people as unable to protect themselves during the middle of the night. Under common law, it was not enough to merely enter a dwelling, the act of breaking had to exist; if the entry occurs through an unlocked door, then burgl...
Between the years of 1714 and 1799 the rate of theft in London increased for many reasons. The method of research use to prove this hypothesis was Old Bailey online. Old Bailey is a court in the city of London in the county of Middlesex. The court is held eight times a year for the trial of prisoners; the crimes tried in this court are high and petty treason, petty larceny, murder, felony, burglary, etc. The goal of this paper is to prove that not only did theft increase, but also why it increased. My preliminary findings suggest that overall theft did increase, and that the main causes for this were: political, economical, and social problems.

One of the world’s most horrible crimes is homicide. Homicide is taking the life of another human being by another human being. Homicide is classified in 3 ways justifiable, excusable, and criminal. Another crime I want to discuss is burglary. Burglary is also called breaking and entering into someone’s home or business by gaining entry with the intentions of committing an offense. Burglary is also a felony one must use force to gain entry in order for it to be considered a burglary. Investigations must be ethical. An investigator must be professional and compliant when investigating these crimes.
Situational crime prevention in some crimes is more successful than that of developmental. Situational Crime prevention takes an approach that the victim is responsible for implementing measures to protect themselves whilst developmental needs programs to be undergone by the offender. The two prevention strategies will be discussed in relation to burglary.
In today’s society there is a high fear of crime by society. Society actions show that there is anxiety and fear about crime. Therefore, anxiety and fear about crime has placid our cities and communities. Society express fear of being victimized by crimes, criminal activities, and behaviors. Therefore, according to, (Crime, 1999) states that “ the level of fear that a person holds depends on many factors, including but, not limited to: “ gender, age, any past experiences with crime that a person may have, where one lives, and one’s ethnicity.” All of those factors have a huge impact on one’s fear level.
