The Haunted House - Original Writing It was the Christmas holidays and beady eyes phased with curiosity were glazing over us. I felt as though everyone was staring at us, and we were now the central attention of our new, humble town, Gravesend. As our entire luggage was being unloaded, I noticed that everyone was glaring at us as if we did not belong here. I felt uncomfortable and insecure. The neighbourhood itself appeared rather pleasant and, on the road, children were playing with each over and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves. As my father opened the door to our new house I flew inside and ran up the stairs immediately to see what my bedroom was like. The walls were pale green and my curtains and carpet were of a similar, but darker colour. By the time everything had been unloaded from the removals lorry, my furniture was positioned well in my room. My family and I began to get settled in. Months passed and neighbours had come over to introduce themselves and offer their aid. These neighbours had gradually become good family friends and I had made a couple of friends myself. I met Ron through his and my parents, who started talking to each over ever since we moved in. Ron was my age, Asian and well-built. I then met Mickey through Ron, whom I did not know so well. I was fitting in with everyone else and my family and I were finally not getting the attention that we got when we first moved in. “Easy bruv, what’s happening?” asked Ron “Nothing much, I’m just bored,” I responded. “Come, I want to show you something,” said Ron unexpectedly. I was bored and had nothing else to do, so I followed Ron and we finally reached our destination: an isolated and dilapidated house. I looked over at Ron, puzzled with curiosity. “Why are you bringing me here?” I asked. Mickey arrived with a big grin on his face. The house looked very old and erosion had occurred around the window sills.
The Horror story of “Diary Of A Haunting” was written by M. Verano. The main character is Paige. Paige is very capable of what she believes in. She also is very strong and fearless and curious about what is going on in her house. The theme of my book is “If You Have Something To Say, Say It.” I believe that Paige knew something was going on, but she was too afraid to say it because she was soon to know if her family would think shes crazy. Since she didn't say anything things got worse. I believe it is important to speak up if your know that something is wrong.
The Haunting of Hill House is a gothic horror novel written by Shirley Jackson. Supernatural occurrences take place within the house revolving around Eleanor. Eleanor is a thirty-two-year-old woman who never once has felt the sense of inclusion. Eleanor seems to never recall the feeling of delight in her adult years due to the fact that she was a caretaker for her now deceased Mother; who took away most of her freedom by being incredibly restrictive. Dr. Montague, a doctor that specializes in analysis of the supernatural rents Hill House, a supposedly haunted house. During the renting period, Dr. Montague begins an experiment inviting individuals who have had involvement in abnormal events
Was Eleanor mentally healthy or unhealthy? In the book The Haunting of Hill House, written by Shirley Jackson, the main character was Eleanor Vance. She was a 32-year-old woman that showed signs that she was mentally unhealthy. After receiving an invitation to stay at Hill House from Dr. Montague, a stranger to Eleanor and the rest of the invited guests, she made the carefree decision to accept the invitation to the comfortable country home (2). She felt as though Hill House was her calling, even though she had never laid eyes on the property and had no knowledge of what to expect. There was no way to know if the doctor could have been a psychopath that wanted Eleanor for some crazed morbid “experiment,” yet she had
The Demon Haunted World is a collection of scientific explanations written by Carl Sagan. Sagan is a famous astronomer who has written many books. Sagan is known for having very strong and pointed opinions that come across as offensive to some people. These strong opinions are very evident in his books. In his book the Demon Haunted World, he used his strong opinions to invalidate the most popular pseudoscience. This is one of the reasons that I choose to read this book . I believe in some pseudoscience, so I was interested in hearing the counterargument to these heavily debated topics.
John Grisham’s book, ‘A Painted House’ places the reader within the walls of a simple home on the cotton fields of rural Arkansas. Within the first few pages, the author’s description of the setting quickly paints a picture of a hard working family and creates a shared concern with the reader about the family’s struggle to meet the basic needs of life. The description of the dusty roads, the unpainted board-sided house, the daily chore requirements and their lack of excess cause the reader a reaction of empathy for the family. Although the story takes place in a dusty setting very unfamiliar to most readers, the storyline is timeless and universal. Most everyone has a desire to meet the basic needs of life, embrace their family ties, and make others and ourselves proud. The crux of this book is that it does an excellent job in showing the reader through other’s examples and hardships to persevere and never give up.

Pictured on the back cover of the comic book "Ghost World," by Daniel Clowes, are the two main characters of the book in full color. This strikingly significant image, surely shrugged off by most Clowes' readers, represents worlds of diversity within the frames of the book. Sporting pink spandex pants underneath her goldfinch yellow skirt and a blue t-shirt to match perfectly, Enid seems to live her life outside the bubble. She's a very dynamic girl, especially interested in her surroundings and people around her. On the other hand, Becky is dressed like a "typical" girl, with a long black skirt and a white blouse, thus representing her conforming presence in the world. Becky is much more passive than Enid, going with the flow of things just living life. The contrasting personalities of Enid and Becky come ironically, being best friends. However, it brings out their defining qualities in the comic book while quietly calling attention to the values of life, what is real and what is not.
I tossed my bow in the bed of the truck and took off and headed to the elk farm. Me and kevin were talking about fishing next summer and how we were going to go every other week. We really got to talking about bowhunting a lot to next year. It was making me smile when i heard that he was going to take me with him anywhere when he can.The next thing i knew was we were at the elk farm ready to kill some deer.
“Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,” (“The Raven” 1). “The Raven” arguably one of the most famous poems by Edgar Allan Poe, is a narrative about a depressed man longing for his lost love. Confronted by a talking raven, the man slowly loses his sanity. “The Haunted Palace” a ballad by Poe is a brilliant and skillfully crafted metaphor that compares a palace to a human skull and mind. A palace of opulence slowly turns into a dilapidated ruin. This deterioration is symbolic of insanity and death. In true Poe style, both “The Raven” and “The Haunted Palace” are of the gothic/dark romanticism genre. These poems highlight sadness, death, and loss. As to be expected, an analysis of the poems reveals differences and parallels. An example of this is Poe’s use of poetic devices within each poem. Although different in structure, setting, and symbolism these two poems show striking similarities in tone and theme.
We sat there for a few more minutes then I got up and yelled for everyone to get ready to start moving again. I donned my pack and tightened the straps, and after making sure everyone else was ready, started off down the winding trail to the night’s campsite.

Human beings are diverse in what they like, dislike, and share with each other. As reality has shown human beings have emotions that either tell one to laugh or run away. Emotions are not usually controlled and when one has an opposite reaction to the emotion present it creates a question about why. Fear, for instance, is an emotion that usually elicits a fight or flight response. When fear elicits enjoyment, something deeper about our emotions are at work. The enjoyment of fear is also a topic with little information. If you research this you find a lot of qualitative information, but hardly any quantitative research. My research question is how is fear enjoyed in haunted houses.
The Life of Billy- Original Writing I intend to describe Billy’s school and explain to what extent the school has helped him achieve his full potential whilst attending the school. The author’s intentions when writing ‘A Kestrel for a Knave’ were to highlight how defective the school was at helping Billy to be a successful person in life. Billy’s school was an all boy’s school situated in Barnsley. The school was run by corporal punishment, and the head teacher believed that is how it should be.
