Even though it may be hard to believe math and movies have an enormous connection to each other. Whether the math is being done in the movie scene itself, being used to animate a character and a setting or being used by a producer to put together a budget for the movie and its components. All of these things and more are done in the process of writing, producing, recording, editing and broadcasting a movie or film. Even the lowest budget movies that are of poor quality and the shortest movies that do not seem like a movie at all, are still comprised of a lot of math. The movie I chose is “The Hangover”, at one point in the movie the characters are in a casino gambling. One character in particular, Alan, is sitting at a table playing blackjack and trying to win the game. He desperately needs money to get his friend, Doug back from kidnappers. Alan then remembers a book he read once about a strategy to win blackjack, the strategy is the Fibonacci betting system. Using the Fibonacci betting system is incredibly easy to comprehend and to implement and eventually win. You start off with a bet of one because it is the first number in the Fibonacci sequence. Every time you win a bet, the next bet you play should correspond to the next number in the sequence. Hocus Pocus is a 1993 film directed by Kenny Ortega. It is a very enjoyable movie with a good cast. The movie genre is comedy, horror, and fantasy. The film is based on a story about Garris and David Kirchner. And it is starring Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker. The story follows the villainous trio of witches, who are inadvertently resurrected by a teenage male virgin. It takes place in Salem, Massachusetts.

The environment looks realistic and believable to the viewers because the style is predictable, and the time is linear throughout the film. I made the fourth option and watched the Wall Street movie. Oliver Stone directed this movie in 1987. The movie talks about the big business world and Wall Street. The two main characters in the movie were Charlie Sheen, named Bud Fox and he is a new stockbroker who wanted to be rich, and Michael Douglas, named Gordon Gekko who works as a banker, real estate agent, and manager of Wall Street. Gekko character was a man who will do anything to make money, even if it requires break the laws. Both Gekko and Bud were at the second stage of Kohlberg’s. Another character in the movie, Carl Fox, acted by Martin Sheen, who is Bud’s father, and he was always telling Bud about the ethical and moral role in being successful and happy
The film “The Gambler” follows as a man, Jim Bennett, suffers from a severe gambling addiction due to his core value of “If you don't have it all you have nothing.” After the death of his grandfather Jim finds himself owing Lee, the proprietor of an underground gambling ring, 240,000 thousand dollars and a loan shark of the name Neville 50,000. Jim finds himself going to his mother at their family's luxurious estate only to find that she will no longer be aiding in his addiction any longer. The story follows as Jim tries to completely eradicate his debts with one enormous gamble. This movie has been added to my list because of the message that no matter what happens their is always a way out.
A movie called, Hidden Figures, was the true story of an African American woman named Katherine Johnson that had a niche for mathematics, she was above her class and age level when it came to solving math equations. She was gifted with the brainpower to solve college level math when she was still in grammar school. The story goes along her life's story on how she changed the name for African American women, back in her time, African Americans were segregated and had little to no chance in going into a professional career. Now, for African American women, it was even harder to get credit for their hard work by anyone of another race, especially since the majority of people were Caucasians.
The theories of the window and frame had its origins in the schools of formalism and realism. Both schools main objective was to amplify the prestige of film. During that era of film was an upstart sideshow attraction, high class form of entertainment was the theater and the visual art forms of paintings and statues. Both schools saw cinema as a way of looking a through an aperture but keeping the audience at a distance from the subject on the screen. Whether looking through at frame or looking through a window the audience would be viewing the subject matter but they would only be able to absorb it. That’s where the similarities end the formalist lead by theorist Sergei Eisenstein saw film as frame and would create shock in an attempt to provoke or raise consciousness. Sergei Eisenstein would create what he wanted to the audience to see in his films. For example in the Battleship Potemkin Eisenstein wanted to address the situation with Russia and he created the situation in his film to incite a revolution by creating chaos. The realism school lead by André Bazin saw cinema as window. To Bazin a spectator would be apart of the film as more of a witness more than just a spectator. In the movie Rear Window Jefferies was witness to his neighbor wife murder while looking through window because while looking through a window what one sees is real.

Fibonacci Numbers originated from India hundreds of years ago. Though Fibonacci Numbers came from India, Leonardo of Pisa, better known as Fibonacci, made it known to the world. Leonardo came from a wealthy Italian family and traveled to North America to join his father. He was educated by the Moors and sent on business trips. “After returning to Pisa around 1200, Leonardo wrote his most famous literature, Liber Abaci” (Pearson). Leonardo featured a rabbit question in the book. The question was asked in a mathematical competition, he appeared in when he was young. Leonardo Fibonacci used the Fibonacci Numbers to solve it. Fibonacci Numbers is now used throughout our society.
My particular favorite would be “The Hangover.” If one has never watched this movie, then you are definitely missing out. The Hangover has many characters in it who are very funny and are constantly joking around with one another. Also in this movie, it goes from being good to terrible, to a happy ending. The group of friends take a journey out to Vegas on a bachelor trip.
