Would you go out of your way to get something that you really want no matter what comes your way? Well, this is what my story is about. The title of the story is ‘The Halloween Costume’ by Juli. The reason behind the story name ‘Halloween costume’ is because it’s about a girl named Mya, who is ten years old, that wants a Halloween costume. And, when she asks her mom to buy her a Halloween costume, her mom didn’t buy it. So, Mya went ahead and told her friends about her problem and her friends did all they could to help Mya. This is how the story begins. Once upon a time there was a 10 year girl named Mya, who lived in a beautiful town called Hallo. Halloween was getting closer, but Mya didn’t have a Halloween costume yet. At school her classmates were talking about their Halloween costumes and Mya got extremely upset. She was mad that she didn’t have a costume and Halloween was approaching. Thus, after school when she went home, Mya asked her mother if she could buy her a Halloween costume, but her mom said no. This caused Mya to be mad for the rest of the evening. The next day when she went to school, her friends were still …show more content…
They found a Halloween costume inside the box which was Mya's dream Halloween costume. Excited, Mya she couldn’t hold her happiness inside her. Therefore, she decided to try it on, but, as Mya was about to do so, the lights went off. Shocked, Mya and her friend just sat there listening and staring at the ceiling as they heard a noise. Frustrated, Mya groaned while listening how the old haunted house creaked. She wished there was light in the basement room. Even though Mya who was not a person who believed in ghosts, she saw how dark shadows gathered in the corners of the room. Suddenly, Mya heard footsteps coming down the stairs, through the hallway and stopped at the door. Someone
Late autumn has arrived and with it comes the dark magic of Halloween--and, of course, the
In the film, “Halloween”, directed by John Carpenter, an outstanding work of art has been created with respect to the ‘on the edge of your seat’ thriller that has been conveyed in the film. Mise-en- scene is incorporated in many different facets throughout the film and has creatively developed the scenes that makeup the thriller and deliver an objective of tone, mood, and scary elements. Mise-en- scene sets up the setting in the film as the director has an objective to deliver a scary, dark scene that keeps the audience on their feet. Initially in the film, there is a unique introduction of a quiet town that leads up to believe there is no horror involved in the area. This unique set up by the director gives us the preamble that the
Cultural appropriation has been a controversial subject of debate for decades; hence it is not something “new” as society likes to think. The issue of cultural appropriation seems to have recently emerged in the 21st century because technology has allowed information to be more widespread and easily accessed. The borrowing of cultural elements of minority cultures, particularly black culture and indigenous culture, (hairstyles, music, fashion, art, etc.) by fashion labels and designers, celebrities, and the dominant culture often elicits unforgiving backlash from liberals. For example, Kylie Jenner has frequently been called out by the black community for continuously
The mask is a form of deception or illusion. Sometimes, it can be worn as both. It hides the true emotions of slaves, keeping the slave master from knowing what is going on in their minds. The mask also allows the slave to have an identity without the master’s detection. The mask gives the illusion that the slave is exactly how the masters believe, ignorant, incapable of true emotion, and unable to think for themselves.
It's a tradition for my sister and I to make our Halloween costumes together and carve pumpkins - you know, the whole nine yards. Sometimes our dad would help, but usually it was just us and the dog outside. We would constantly be covered in some kind of paint or dye, whether it be fake blood, face paint, fabric paint, or some years even tea. (We got creative.) The costumes ended up being cool,
Maria walked up the long cobblestone pathway and began knocking on the door. It suddenly opened and a tall woman answered. The “Trick or Treat,” beamed Maria. “What are you dressed as?”
Once that was over, we walked into the sinister house. There wasn’t much room in the house so Paige and I walked side by side while Makenna was behind us. Throughout the beginning of the petrifying house every corner there was someone trying to scare me. The room we were in started to get dark and that got me frightened. Nothing bad happened, but in the room upcoming had those dazzling flashing lights. The lights were blinding and gave me a headache. When we were at this part of the haunted house, it was a struggle to walk through because of the harsh lights in my eyes. Fortunate for us that section wasn’t too long. Following the lights part the lasting haunted house’s time was coming to an end. The house wasn’t extremely scary subsequent of the lights part. Finally it came to an end and the journey in a haunted house was over.
Imagine having the worst potential Halloween nightmare come to life for a night. Everything from the “Boogeyman” to innocent random people being killed by chainsaws and other disturbing things. The film Halloween does all that and then some. The movie begins with an innocent looking six year old boy named Michael Myers dressed up in a clown costume and stabs his older sister Judith to death. After that incident, Michael ends up going to jail with a plan of being put away for a long time.
I can’t hold in my excitement as I run to the foyer. Mom looks at me worriedly, but I ignore her and throw open the door before the person standing behind it can knock. He looks at me with boredom lacing his expression, obviously expecting my weird gift to tell the future. I quickly hug him and grab his pale hand, pulling him outside. Tonight is Halloween, and the only time my pale blonde friend visits me. He’s my first and only friend, so I don’t mind that he doesn’t play with me the other three hundred sixty-something days in the year.
If you are a fan of scary Halloween costumes, who have probably already dressed up like a killer clown, an evil scarecrow or a grim reaper. Perhaps this year, you would like to try out something more original, something that few people would dare to wear. The following costume is suited for the true Halloween enthusiasts, those for whom no effort is too much for the perfect scary look.
Within the picture before me, I see myself. I was dressed in all black; black dress shoes, black pants, a black button-down shirt with a sleek black tie, a black suit jacket, black gloves, a black ski mask, and a black fedora to top it all off. I am not entirely sure what I was supposed to be. Was I a mobster, a thief, or even a personification of the night? The date was Halloween and I was sitting on a bench in front of my house, waiting to scare or give out candy to anybody who approached the door. That year, we had not decorated our house as well as previous years; but we still had a few last minute ideas implemented o let people know that they were welcome to approach. There was a rotating red beacon flashing, jack-o-lantern cutouts over the porch light, and creepy music playing loudly. Despite the decorations, not one person came to our house and hardly anyone had decorated for the holiday along my street. I remember feeling disappointment when I realized that nobody was going to¬¬¬¬ come and anger as people walked by our house without a second glance.
When Connie goes out she tells her mother that she is just going to be with her best friend at the mall all day, she leaves the house dressed conservatively, but when she gets to the mall she changes into something that can catch any boys’ attention. Her and her best friend try to find boys to hang out with then they leave with the boys and meet up at the movie theater when it’s time for them to go home. One day, Connie got caught up with a boy she had meet and lost track of time. When she got to the meet up point, her best friend was nowhere to be found since it was well over the time that they’re supposed to be home. Connie arrived home during very late hours and was met with an angry in the living room. Connie and her mother got into a heated argument and there were many things that were said, that shouldn’t have been
Professor and vice dean at the University of Miami School of Law Osamudia James' commentary "Can a white child dress as a Halloween character from another race" addresses the now-controversial topic of appropriating another race or culture. James argues that an acceptable costume depends on avoiding stereotypes, discrimination, and white supremacy. I agree with James about avoiding offensive costumes, however, James' description of offensive costumes makes it very difficult to picture anything acceptable to wear. Ideally, a person would avoid white supremacy and discrimination, but I find it very hard to picture a costume which does not use stereotypes in one way or another. Somehow, she manages to relate white supremacy to Halloween in a ineffective
As we walked through the woods on the dark cold night in October we notice screaming of what we had thought to be the neighbor girl. We creep closer to the large mansion and climb the gates to get in the massive front yard. As me and my friends Kevin, Douglas, and randy reach the front door, we slowly creep open the front door, we hear screams and yells and very quickly leave the situation. We head back to the house for the night and decide that we will make a plan and return to the mansion tomorrow.
A dark and dismal place like a ghost town not a soul stirring in the dead of night. You look around and see a shadow moving through the darkness of the streets. You turn but they're gone, an eerie feeling washes over you like a cloak. You feel coldness seeping through your bones chilling you to the core. This is what you feel like in Hallo Town, the skeletons hanging in the trees, the wind whispering through the town. Pumpkins burning and grinning at you with eyes and a mouth made of fire at every door. If you have not guessed the real name of this place yet, you will notice it above the creepy dusty old town hall, the name of this place you will fear and dread. Where everyone is mainly dead, Halloween Town.
