Wilhelm was the main brother to edit and revise the stories. “Wilhelm created a style that remains a model for fairy-tale writing” (Grimm 394). The stories trace back to the pre-christian era. The brothers used a style of writing known as Romanticism. Romanticism is the development of national languages and folklore. Romanticism also involved mythical figures in nature and fantasy (Hinrichs 1). The brothers use of romanticism caused it to take off in the world of writing. The tales were a “scientific” collection (Hinrichs 1). Jacob and Wilhelm embellished the stories to gain the interest of readers. In 1812, the brothers published Kinder- und Hausmärchen (Children 's and Household Tales). The brothers started off with eighty-six tales. Although Jacob and Wilhem were the only ones given credit for the book, they were not the only ones who took part in the making of it (Grimm 394) …show more content…

The Grimm Brothers set off romanticism in the 18th century. By collecting the stories of their childhood from family and friends, they have influenced society for over two-hundred years. Together they alone influenced the Nazis savage ways and brought unity to Germany. Their fairy tales, although vulgar, have something in each tale that people can relate too. The tales are still being passed down and altered to this day,and will be for many years to come. Tale such as Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Snow White are still very popular today.The Grimm Brothers were responsible for collecting the tales that have influenced society for over two-hundred years and still are influencing people today.
