This phenomenal film includes some of Hollywood’s best actors, Jay Gatsby is played by the one and only Leonardo Di Caprio, Nick Carraway is played by Tobey Maguire, Daisy Buchanan is portrayed by Carey Mulligan, Tom Buchanan is played by Joel Edgerton, Elizabeth Debicki plays Jordan Baker, Myrtle Wilson is played by Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke portrays George Wilson, The owl-eyed man is played by Max Cullen and Wolfsheim is played by India’s greatest actor named Amitabh Bachchan. This film is filmed in some of the most beautiful places in Sydney, Australia. The setting of this film shows the differences between the rich and poor. The atmosphere makes you feel like you are living in that era. The costumes of every character in the film were great especially the flappers because they capture that era perfectly. The colour white represents purity and innocence, in the film daisy is wearing white because she is trying to show as if she is pure. The acting is amazing and remarkable; these are the characters that I pictured when I read the book. The script is outstanding because it shows you what the characters are feeling and it explains their characters. The music makes everything come alive because of the jazz that is used in them. This is a successful adaptation because it followed the book by showing every important detail. The film also symbolizes Gatsby’s parties because they display the materialistic society and they are a perfect representation of the 20’s and The American Dream. Another reason why this is a successful adaptation is because of the narration. Nick is a great character to narrate the film because just like the book he is inside and outside which means that he is an observer and he is involved in the situations.
