Did you know that "The Giver" is set 50 years in the future? "The Giver" is a story about a boy named Jonas, who is chosen to be his community’s next Receiver of Memory. Jonas’s community revolves around the idea of sameness, and only Jonas can see the world as it truly is. The imagery in this text creates moods that have similar and different importances to the plot and story. "The Giver" uses imagery to set up an important mood in two separate sections in this story. In scene two, the uses textual evidence to convey a mood that is important to the story. For example, on page 14 it says “Inside his dwelling, Jonas joins his Family Unit for dinner: premade meals on metal trays.” This confirms that the author uses textual evidence to create a mood that is important in the development of the story. The mood is jadedness, and it shows what life in the community is like. Likewise, in scene 11 the author used textual evidence to create a mood that is equally important to the story. Imagery within a book adds an extra layer of detail for the reader so that they may receive insight into what is happening in the book. This quote is very important to the journey part of the book due to its insight into the event that helped Enrique to make it through the long journey on the train. The imagery of dozens of people rushing out to help travelers like Enrique by throwing bundles to the travelers as they pass through the city is very powerful. This imagery is representative of the kindness that some people have for the travelers. Without the kindness of others, and their willingness to help, Enrique and many other travelers may not have been able to make it all the way to the United States. These generous people provide the travelers with a greater chance of success by giving the travelers food and other necessities that keeps them alive.
Imagery plays a big part in the success of a novel. Different writers have different styles. The good thing about imagery is it makes room for the reader to put things together. The reader is allowed to interpret the story the way that they like. "Ragged Dick", Horatio Alger, Jr. did a great thing with imagery. While reading the novel readers had a change to envision many things that were mentioned in each chapter. Algar interconnected the appearances of the main character to his living arrangement. He also connected these things with the character's attitude.

The Giver is about a boy named Jonas who was chosen to be the community’s next Receiver of Memory. He lived in a community where everything was chosen for the citizens, and everything was perfect. During Jonas' training, he realized that the community was missing something and that there was more in the world. Jonas wanted everybody to know that. The Giver book was then made into a movie.
Throughout the history of the world, there has been many societies. All these societies had similar structures and ideas, but they all are different by their own special traditions and ways of life. Similarly, both our society and the society in The Giver share similar ideas, but they are different in certain areas. For example, they both celebrate birthdays and have family units, but they have their own way of doing so. Based on the celebration of birthdays and the formation of family units, our society is better than the society in The Giver by Lois Lowry.
Lois Lowry describes a futuristic world with controlled climate, emotions, way of living and eliminating suffering in her book The Giver. The main character, Jonas, shows the reader what his world is like by explaining a very different world from what society knows today. Everything is controlled, and no one makes choices for themselves or knows of bad and hurtful memories. There is no color, and everything is dull. As he becomes the Receiver who has to know all the memories and pass them down to the next Receiver, he realizes his world needs change.
Set in a community with no climate, emotions, choices, or memories Lois Lowry tells the tale of Jonas in The Giver. Jonas is selected to be the receiver of memory, which means the memories of generations past, before the community was created, will all be transferred to him to hold. As Jonas receives memories his concept of the world around him drastically changes. Jonas starts out as twelve-year-old boy with perceptions different from those around him, he then begins to see the community for what it really is, and he makes a plan to change it.
The Giver is actually one of my all-time favorite books, so I’ve looked into why she left the book so inconclusive in the past. The Giver is basically about a boy named Jonas who lives in a perfect society. He lives in a household with his two parents and his little sister Lilly. When he becomes a 12, he goes through a huge ceremony and all the elders assign them their jobs. In this community, there is no lying, stealing, racism, pain, sunlight or color. Jonas was chosen to be The Receiver, and he didn’t know what to do because this job was such a big deal. Jonas then goes through training with the current Receiver, who is now The Giver. Training consists of The Giver passing down the memories from when the community was not what it is today. Memories that are passed down are things that are normal to us. Memories of sun, snow, pain, and sorrow.
The writer uses imagery, because he wants to let the readers into his mind. By describing the scene for the readers, makes the readers fell like they were there. Therefore, it gives us a better ability to emphasize with him.

In the book The Giver by, Lois Lowry, the reader is introduced to what seems overall to be a perfect community although somewhat unusual and perplexing. As the story progresses, the reader learns things that seem unsettling even though this utopian society is supposedly “perfect”. As Jonas begins his work as the new receiver of memory, he gains wisdom and through tat wisdom learns that in protecting the community from the memories, their lives have lacked feeling and understanding.

The Giver Grabs Jonas’s arms & squeezes them very tightly and a vision pops into his head & he can see it very clearly. Jonas would have never known that seeing this memory was happy and joyful. Once Jonas understands these visions, he tries using them in the real world instead of just in his head. The Giver Gave Jonas the memories to experience new feeling.
