Music invokes feelings. It is essentially what it was made for wasn't it? Those who composed the notes and wrote the lyrics felt something when they created a song. They were inspired, and the ones who listen to the music felt something as well: they relate to it in some way. For myself, the song I bear in mind invokes the nostalgia of childhood memories. "The Ghost" is the creation of Tim Peters who is better known among fans as NIVIRO. The lyrics are reasonably straight forward I suppose, and I think that is why when I flashback to this memory it's the song that comes easiest to mind. As with almost all songs "The Ghost" contains a chorus. A lyric the chorus questions "Are you afraid of the dark?" Once more the song comes to mind; "The time it goes tick, tock, tick, tock, tick...tock". The sound of that clock served only to make the general silent of the room louder and the darkness was so thick my hands were invisible to my eyes. Getting into bed, I watched as my sister shut the light off. In the usual way, I attempted to ignore the weight of perceived stares on my person and attempted to sleep. I assume my efforts were successful because there is a gap in my memory from then until the creature appeared. Sometime that night my body demanded the bathroom. Climbing out of bed resulted in my falling to the ground. Instead of getting back onto my feet to seek the light switch I began to crawl along the floor with my hands outstretched in front of me. It was at that moment I became aware of the silence of the room and the soft thumping of feet along the floor. The words "I'm coming closer" from "The Ghost" ring through my head in memory of it.
