Climax: Max was always getting bullied in school. He had no one that he could be friends with especially with his learning disabilities he could not write very well. He was always lonely until he finds a young boy needing help to get his ornithopter that was stuck in the tree. They both had many conversations and became closer friends day by day by going on adventurous quests with each other. Until Max's father kidnaps Max away from his grandparents. This is where the highest dramatic tension happens. He had to go through a lot of pain until Killer Kane finally gets arrested with the help Iggy, Loretta, and most of all Freak who had saved Max's day. Sadly on Freak's birthday, he had suffered from a major seizure and he was rushed to the hospital. He then died because of his physical deformity and with a heart too big for his body. Denouement: The final outcome that had happened in this book is that Killer Kane got arrested for kidnapping Max and an attempt to choke Loretta. Killer Kane went back to prison because of this immediate crime. Another outcome was when Freak had died after his heart was way too big for his body. Freak had given Max a …show more content…
Philbrick want to show readers what true friendship really is. This book is one of the most touching books that I have ever read especially the end of this book when Freak hands over his book to Max so that he can fill it up with all the adventures that he has been on. Freak showed an true act of friendship by giving his own book to Max. The book has taught me many life lessons that I will need to know in the future. I learned that friendship can come easy and go easy but when it's true friendship, it can never be broken. Out of ten stars, I would rate this book eleven out of ten although it's an improper fraction, it doesn't matter because that proves how much I like this
Max Powers trusted people he thought were his “best friends”, but not all friends are best friends, as Max would soon find out. Max was blinded by the fact that he recently received a will of $12.4 million, due to a skydiving accident that resulted in his parent 's death. He didn’t even realize that his previous “best friends” (Dez Tenney,Chloe Goode,Beverly Hills, Ray Leetuff) were plotting to kill him and become millionaires themselves. Max hosted a housewarming party, at his new place in a very expensive neighborhood due to the fact that he recently received $12.4 million. Max invited Dez, Chloe, Beverly, and Ray because he considered these people to be his best friends, but what he didn 't know was his so called ¨best friends¨ only accepted
An example of their adventures is when Kevin mouths at Tony D. and his gang, defending Max and himself; after of which he discovers that Max could not have fought Tony and incredulously questions, “You mean you couldn’t take him and I was giving him lip?” (31). Kevin’s words reveal his trust in Max. He incited Tony, believing Max would be able to protect the both of them. The boys’ next conflict, an encounter with Iggy, the head of a troublemaking motorcycle gang, and Loretta, his wife, show Max’s concern for Kevin and his wanting to keep Kevin safe: “I feel real bad for Freak because he hated it when people try to rub his head for luck, but I don’t say a word, I just run us home, thumping the short way back around the pond, and my big feet never trip me up because I’m on automatic, I’m this running machine” (72). Max is very attuned and sensitive to Kevin’s feelings, an important quality in a friendship. Also, his desire to protect Kevin and keep him away from Iggy and Loretta prevent his clumsiness from impeding his speedy progress to home. The conflicts Freak the Mighty encounter prove the boys’ undeniable teamwork and
Max and Freak relationship is very good. They both like each other and our good friends.Frea thinks of Max as his legs, so he can walk. Max thinks of Freak as his Brain, so he can think and be smart. It’s almost like they
Fans of the novel like the way you get to see inside Grace and Marty 's personalities, and the way that these two kids are just like any other, if not a little more unusual. You will find yourself glued to the pages until you have finished reading the novel. The adventures will make it so that you only breath about every once in a while and you will like the characters you are reading about, even if you are an adult. The novel is vivid in description and it is almost as though you are able to make a movie of things in your head. Some felt that they were along for the ride with the heroes, Grace and Marty, in this one and they enjoyed every moment of
In the Earley book, the author started to talk about the history of mental illness in prison. The mentally ill people were commonly kept in local jails, where they were treated worse than animals. State mental hospitals were typically overcrowded and underfunded. Doctors had very little oversight and often abused their authority. Dangerous experimental treatments were often tested on inmates.
In my eyes I loved the book I rate it a 9/10, its had a good twist and turn to it. I loved this
The ending of this book was a cliffhanger. In my opinion that is the worse kind of ending, but that’s how that writing persuades the reader to get the next book in the series. Without giving too much away about the end of the story, it was very unexpected. To be
...ane just did not know how to show this at times that were tough for him. Killer Kane still is protective, cares about Max, and wants the best for him. When Killer Kane came back to see Max when he could have been arrested was showing he cared and loved Max enough to be arrested again right when he got out of jail. Killer Kane showed that he is protective of Max when Loretta tried to untie Max and Killer Kane snapped at her to not put her hands on his son. He showed that he wanted the best for Max when he said he wanted to start a life with Max. Killer Kane just wanted Max to have the father figure he needed in his life. Killer Kane listens, suggests, defends. Is patient, loving and loyal. He would do anything for Max, He wants the best for Max, and protects Max. In the novel, Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick Killer Kane is truly a loving father and he proves it.
In today's society there are lots of people that believe that dumb people can not accomplish anything in there whole life. From the book Freak the Mighty this point is proven wrong. Max and Kevin, are the two most important characters in Freak the Mighty, they can both be described as dynamic characters. Each of them goes through major changes that are revealed through their actions, and by what the author says about them. Maxwell embodies the archetype of the hero's journey. I will discuss this issue using the fact that he has a birth, a calling/journey, and a return.
His father kills his mother, then the father goes to jail and Max gets stuck with his grandparents. Max is lost, needs a friend desperately and needs help. He even admits it on the first page, “I never had a brain until Freak came along.” He always thought that his head was empty. “Not that I have any ideas. My brain is vacant” (6). He said he was brainless, stupid, couldn’t learn… He did not believe in himself and Freak came along to help him understand that there is an “...unlocked door just waiting for you to open it.” -Unknown
My overall opinion of this book is good I really liked it and recommend it to anyone. It is a good book to read and it keep you interested throughout the whole book.
It is evident that Max tries to escape his reality and get lost in a world where he can find freedom from his complex troubles, much like every other child in the world today whom does not know how to deal with such chaotic and complicated thoughts. Max, unknowingly comes face to face with all his emotions through the lives of others, helping him to come to an understanding in his escape. In the film “Where the Wild Things Are” Max’s sister ignores him, he feels his mothers new boyfriend is taking her from him and he is overall portrayed as a lonely, lost character. Max is told by his mother that he has gone out of control, which essentially is the last straw in initiating him to run away to where he eventually ends up where the wild things are. According to the article “Fantasy - Necessary for Sanity and Morality” in order for proper development, “A child needs to understand what is going on within his conscious self so that he can cope with that which goes on within his unconscious.” This can be attained by daydreaming through stories and scenarios to ...
I am not surprised that that Killer Kane's returned. Every book I have read, that is like this, always has a plot twist and this is it. It all started in chapter 13. American Chop Suey. When Max is requested at the office and it all spirals downhill from there. When Mrs. Addison, the principal, mentions that Killer Kane is going on parole Max freaks out. From that point on you can figure that Kane is going to appear sometime. I feel that Killer Kane is a control freak. This started in Chapter 5 when Gwen says, “He made it... difficult for your mother to have any friends.” That told me that Kane is a control freak, and in chapter 16 that pretty much followed up my hypothesis. Kane and Max were walking over to the New Testaments he asked if
I recommend this particular book to people who have families that are crazy. They can relate too this book with Greg and his family. I also recommend this book to people who enjoy laughs. You can get a good laugh once in awhile during the book. I rate this a book an 6/10, my expectations were high for this book, but when I first read, my expectations went high to low. This book wasn't as good as before, personally i think it's just another ordinary diary of a wimpy
Liszt was a pianist who played a piece one time and then he “began to transpose simple passages into octaves and thirds, trills into sixths and to add phrases on his own until, in Brorodin’s words, what emerged ‘was not the same piece but an improvisation of it’” (Perenyi 205).
