Most people in the world trust that religion means something greater than human existence, that there is a life after death whether that’s reincarnation or heaven. Some religions are based on one person leading them, others believe in the supernatural or some believe in the science of man. Every province around, the world seems to have its own beliefs about religion. There are often many branches of the same religion, depending on where you are located in the world. Religion often changes based on the area you live in because of traditions already practiced in that area. When a new religion is being implemented into a new area it isn’t uncommon to add their tradition to get people to believe. Although there are many religions around the world and different stories of how these religions start there all focused on knowledge. Many of the stories are passed down through religious tradition to teach young people and people that don’t believe. In the bible there are many stories to teach, for example The Tower of Babel, which teaches us that we must not be proud, but ask god for help. These stories are knowledge and the bases of many religions in Western countries. Teachings are the foundation of religion.
Buddhism is a path of practice and spiritual development leading to insight into the true nature of reality. The religion is more neutral than one may find in a traditional Church. Buddhism needs to be preserved as something very complex. There are a variety of beliefs, ideas and norms of human behavior embedded in Buddhist literature. ...s Buddhism may find more common ground with contemporary agnosticism (pg. 17 Batchelor). Batchelor believes if we review the awakening of the Buddha it is more of a “culture of awakening”. Batchelor doesn’t like the word religion, but prefers the word culture. Culture is the foundation of religion.
In the end, Strong and Batchelor may have different views on what it means to be Buddhist but neither is more right than the other. Batchelor’s way of thinking and book about Buddhism appeals to more modern individuals. John Strong’s way of thinking and book appeals to more traditional Buddhist. Both Strong and Batchelor are equally correct on what the foundation of religion is. Religion can be anything people want it to be and anything they need it to be. That’s why there are so many different types of religion around the world because everyone has different views.
Religion reinforces the beliefs of individuals within a society. Additionally, religion has played a vital role in society since it influenced the way they lived and the rituals they may or may not have practiced. Different regions of the world during ancient time held a distinct set of beliefs, each based on different or similar principals. Deriving from the polytheistic set of beliefs, monotheism came in place of many Gods, holding just one god accountable for the creation and the existence of mankind. Christianity and Buddhism share similarities and differences, but most importantly the impact that each had on the culture is what is mostly referred to.
Buddhism is a religion from the East that has spread to many different countries all over the world. It has spread to the West, and has had a great influence and impact, especially in America. However, the Buddhism that is practiced in the United States is not exactly the same as the one that is practiced in Asian countries. If Buddhism differs between the different traditions of the Asian countries themselves, it is obvious that it will differ greatly in America as well. However, even though there are obvious differences, it is important to maintain the core values and fundamental principles the same. This research explores how the three different types of Buddhist practitioners have adopted Buddhism in America, and it describes some differences
In the novel "Brave New World" civilized society lives in a world of science and technology. Major changes have occurred during the future; Utopia now revolves a religion of drugs and sex. God and the cross have been replaced by Ford and the symbol T, the founder of the age of machines. Instead of Sunday church, members now attend solidarity services where morals and tradition are not learned, but rather faith is taught in the belief of hallucinations produced by a substance known as "soma." Soma has effectively replaced the belief in a higher being by its elimination of problems and stress resulting in a lack of imagination , creativity, or "soul." Yet religion can still be found in today's society because of man's continuing need for answers to questions that cannot be solved by science or technology.

The study of Buddhism over the past century or so has resembled the encounter of the blind men and the elephant in many ways. Students of Buddhism have tended to fasten onto a small part of the tradition and assume their conclusions held true about the whole. Often the parts they have seized on have been a little like the elephant's tusks a striking, but unrepresentative, part of the whole animal. As a result, many erroneous and sweeping generalizations about Buddhism have been made, such as that it is 'negative', 'world-denying', 'pessimistic', and so forth.

Religion is quite possibly one of the most debatable things in the world. Some people believe in their religion so much they are willing to die for it, others do not believe in any kind of religion at all. However, just as people’s opinions on religion vary, so do people’s views on what constitutes a religion. Religion is very complex, and because of this complexity it is a very hard word to define. Yet to exclude labeling Buddhism as a religion because it lacks an almighty god seems unfair. Buddhism is a type of religion. Buddhism shares many common traits, and beliefs with some of the world’s most popular religions.

The foundation of the Christian faith must start with knowing that God has an active role with His creation. The first and most passionate way God is involved with His creation is through His Word. God has a plan and a purpose for what He created. In my essay, I will hopefully explain how this doctrine will affect the way I encounter with people as a minister of the Gospel and my future career becoming a Chaplain.
