The Football Field
I squat down and cup my hands under the bent over body. I scope the battlefield and acknowledge the positioning of my eleven enemies. A million thoughts go through my mind as I decide which area I am going to attack. My warrior paint is smearing down my cheeks, and my cleats dig into the frozen tundra of the battleground. I feel like all the eyes of the arena are on me, as I yell my cadence. I yell the final "GO" and the warriors clash with intent to hurt. Bodies are flying all around me, but I don't notice them, for I am concentrated on one thing, to march my comrades down the hostile territory, and through the archenemies barricade.
After each of these affairs, and the traditional trash talking, I trot over to the sidelines to get the next battle strategy from the general. Sometimes disagreeing, yet always sticking to the strategy drawn out for me. I return to the huddle of the good guys, each with a look of violence on their face, preparing for the next battle. We break the adrenaline loaded huddle, and we all trot to the front line.
The air is brisk, and the night is out. The lights beam down on the green playing field like spotlights on a stage. The crowd is anticipating an exciting play by their home team, and busy with commotion. The little kids are on the top of the hill playing football, imagining they were playing in front of that same rambunctious crowd.
Just an hour before, I had arrived to this battleground, stepping off of the bus with my teammates. All of us feeling the same nervousness in the pit of our stomach just at the site of the arena, infested with filthy rats with different colored jerseys. Anticipating the events to come, I jog up and down that magical field, taking in anything that I can use to my advantage.
Bullets flying through the air right over me, my knees are shaking, and my feet are numb. I see familiar faces all around me dodging the explosives illuminating the air like lightning. Unfortunately, numerous familiar faces seem to disappear into the trenches. I try to run from the noise, but my mind keeps causing me to re-illustrate the painful memories left behind.
middle of paper ... ... When the enemy seeks to avoid battle, we attack! When the enemy retreats, we pursue!
Throughout the battle, you see numerous Army Values and Warrior Ethos being used. “I will never leave a fallen comrade”, was the etho used the most, to reach the separated platoon. The battle also shows that not all tactical orders are effective, but as a leader you must never second guess yourself.
One day Chandler Gerber 23, of Bluffton collided with an Amish buggy back in April of 2012. A three year old boy and a five year old girl were killed. A 17 year old boy who was in critical condition died several days later. Chandler was sending a text that said “ I love you” to his wife when he caused the accident. Drivers who were texting were 23.2 times more likely to crash to those who weren’t texting (Cell Phones and Texting). The increasing amount of crashes caused from texting and driving and growing and becoming more of a problem. Distracted driving is an increasing problem in the United States resulting in many accidents, but a solution to the problem would be banning cellphones while driving.
Friday night football - the night everybody is getting ready for. I can smell the grassy field and the sweaty players. It's five o'clock and I'm getting ready for the game. Taking my time with everything and making sure everything is perfect, from every single strand of hair being in the right place to making sure there are no wrinkles in my uniform. As I look at the clock, it says 5:45, I better hurry up because I have to be at the game at 6, and I still have to pick up your friend. I hurry out the door and speed down the road. As I race down the road, I'm looking everywhere to make sure there's not a cop anywhere. I finally get to my friend's house and wait for her. She comes running out of the house and gets in my car. As I go down the road, she is still putting her make-up on, making sure it is to her perfection. Finally, we reach the football field. We run down to the field, making sure we aren't late, but by the time we get to the field, our make-up is running down our faces and our hair is frizzed up. No one is there yet, just the football player's warming up and us. There is Jock Jams playing in the background to help get the players motivated. We start warming up so that we make sure everything looks good.
Friedrich Nietzsche certainly serves as a model for the single best critic of religion. At the other end of this spectrum, Jonathan Edwards emerges as his archrival in terms of religious discourse. Nietzsche argues that Christianity’s stance toward all that is sensual is that grounded in hostility, out to tame all that rests on nature, or is natural, akin to Nietzsche’s position in the world and his views. Taking this into account, Edwards’s views on Christianity should be observed in context targeted at those who agree with his idea, that G-d is great and beyond the capacity of human reason.
...air and gloomily enthusiastic? Has not God’s morality and divine right simply been replaced by Universal human rights?
Nietzsche’s philosophy relied on the idea of the growth of the individual. He rejoiced the divinity of humanity rather than one of a higher power. He is most famous for his statement “God is dead,” which rejects Christianity and forces humanity to find purpose within itself. His concept of the Übermensch, a super-human or superman, is the finest execution of this belief, presented in his novel Thus Spoke Zarathustra.
Thesis statement: Risks of texting while driving over the past few years has become a key topic for many Americans through the country. It has been the cause of numerous deaths and injuries and remains a vast disturbance for drivers. Hence driving is one of the greatest common causes of misfortunes on roads. This can result in, physical visual and cognitive distraction and significantly increases the amount of time a driver devotes not looking at the road. Therefore police officers should seize the phones of those who text and drive.
Texting and driving is a deadly issue in today 's generation. Using our cellphones while driving is a damaging habit among teens and adults. This habit caused many catastrophic accidents and deaths. Texting while driving has made the roads unsafe for other drivers. Many states recognize the immense threat resulting from texting and driving and have placed a ban on this epidemic. While many people realize texting and driving is hazardous others believe that the ban is useless and not strong enough of a solution.
The nerves are raging, mainly in his stomach as the butterflies flutter till no end. "Is everything ok? Will everything go as planned?" He couldn't stop thinking about what might happen. Images were racing wild as he thought about his teammates going to battle without him. He couldn't comprehend why he had to let them handle it on their own. He has played with them since they were in eighth grade, and when they need him the most, all he can do is sit and cheer. He hates this feeling of helplessness, but at the same time he knows he has to do what little he can do, well.
Two one thousand, three one thousand. Their quarterback quickly shouts out a play. I think to myself “Are my pads secure?” My thoughts quickly turn back to the game as I look up just in time to see two hundred and fifty pounds of blue and white running toward me at full speed. As the sweat rolls down my face my eyes start to burn. My legs suddenly grow weak with fatigue. My hands start to shake as I start to run towards my opponent. I feel a sudden breeze. I start to gag on my mouthpiece. I look up, but all I can see is a glare from the sun, which begins to blind me.
It was in 1882 when Nietzsche first suggested that God is dead in his book The Gay Science. “God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?”¹ It is by this statement that the philosopher infers that society no longer has a need for the notion of God; for it does not help the progression of our species rather it hinders it. Obviously we cannot claim Nietzsche is alone responsible for God’s death, he is only a mere messenger with an attempt to make a clear statement. Mostly, he meant that the idea of God has lost all of its power and imaginative force.
In conclusion, Friedrich Nietzsche’s ideas and concepts have been criticized but at the same time praised throughout the years. They have caused many controversies starting by a statement he made claiming that “God was dead”. According to him, God was killed by technology and science, which became the new “God” in people’s lives. He believed that individuals belief didn’t allowed them to succeed and become powerful and wealthy. He believed in a concept of an overman, who was an individual that didn’t have a God or a religion impeding him from doing things society believed were evil. Nietzsche thought that the underman had its own morality known as master morality, which gave him the power to do things openly and without shame or fear.
People view the statement “God is dead” as an aesthetic statement. They do not journey into the underlying or more obvious meanings of the quote. Even though Fredrick Nietzsche may have been an atheist, I do not believe he meant “God is dead” in a literal or aesthetic way. Nietzsche was pointing out that in society the cultural expansion of other religions and introduction of nihilism have changed Western society morally.
