I am proud to say I was born and raised in the small town of Tallassee, Alabama. There are not many landscapes and main attractions that we have in Tallassee, but it is the movement and human-environment interactions of people who live to make their town better that makes it remarkable. Even though I love Tallassee Al, I have always wanted to travel the world and see everything there is to see. So back in 2009, I decided to relocate to the historic city of Montgomery, Alabama and it has been the greatest move I could ever make. Montgomery, Alabama was integrated in 1819, built over rolling terrain at an altitude of almost 220 feet (67 m) above sea level. Majority of Montgomery lies along the southern bank of the Alabama River.
The region of Montgomery id located along the southern part of Alabama, which is bordered by Tennessee, Mississippi, and Georgia. There are four different zip codes that make up the city of Montgomery: 36000s, 36100s, 36700s, and 36800s. The only area code we have is *334 and time is based in the central time zone.
I grew up hearing about the city of Montgomery and how it is known as one of the most historical cities in United States. The best things to visit here are the Montgomery Zoo, Alabama State Capitol, First White House of Confederacy, Civil Rights Memorial, and the RSA Tower. It is also home to the Jubilee Cityfest, an annual music festival that features a wide range of notorious performers, like Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, John Mayer, and Bruno Mars. The RSA Tower is the most prominent feature of Montgomery's skyline, standing at 375 ft.

...n of Montgomery is what helps establish the movement theme of geography, as well as the transportation factor. In 2010, it was it that the city was home to almost 375,000 people. There are two major Interstate highways, interstate 85 interstate 65, that help residents head northbound to Birmingham or Huntsville or northeast to Atlanta, Georgia. Interstate 85 runs through the eastern-western part of Montgomery, which travelers use to frequent the local attractions. There is one main airport located here in Montgomery, known to some as Dannelly Fields or to others as Montgomery Regional Airport. If local residents cannot afford those means of transportation, the city provides a bus transit system that gives rides to almost 5,000 residents per day. There are many means of transportation for people to go from place to place, even if they wish to travel outside the city.
For many, the quaint town of Point Clear, Alabama represents the Old South rooted in tradition, charm, and grace. Halfway down the bay and nearly hidden among oaks adorned with Spanish moss, Point Clear was founded in the early 1800s. Today, the city continues to honor its role in the Civil War, perpetuates the memories of its residents, and evolves as a greater and better place.
Pennsylvania has a wide variety of beautiful historical buildings that reflect many different styles of architecture. They include historical homes, unique covered bridges, government buildings, and breathtaking churches. Some of Pennsylvania’s most recognized examples of great architecture are Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Fallingwater” and The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts located in Philadelphia. However, the one building that I think of when it comes to great architecture is The Pennsylvania State Capitol. The Pennsylvania State Capitol building, located in Harrisburg, is a great example that represents a variety of architectural elements and a rich history.
Scottsboro is located in the Jackson County, Alabama. Maycomb is a fictional location that's also located in Alabama according to Harper Lee.
The city also offers some live entertainment. The Classic Country Theater has a tribute to Elvis and a music show that concentrates on the 50’s through the 80’s (http://www.classiccountrytheater.com). During the Civil War the economy plummeted and there was a population decrease. The population went from 6,000 to 1,000 in a five year period. The famous cattle drive that ran through the town and the first railroad attracted new residents in 1876. With al the growth going on the courts could not keep up with the increasing criminal cases. In 1876
“Houston was founded in 1836 by two brothers,” (World Book Encyclopedia pg. 394) John K. Allen and Augustus Allen. They bought 6,642 acres on which to build the great city. They decided to name the city after their friend Sam Houston. “He was a general that led the army that won Texas’s freedom from Mexico.” (Passionate Nation pg. 274) Sam Houston also became the first Texas president. The brothers built a capitol building; it was two stories tall and made completely out of wood. The Texas Congress moved from Colombia to the new capitol building. Within four months after Houston was founded, more than 1,500 people were living there. Once the city started growing, Houston became very famous for its popular port. The port sent goods to and received goods from all around the world. Sadly, in the 1900s a hurricane hit it. “Houston helped out in World War II. They helped with ship building, steel producing, and producing oil.” (visithoustontexas.com) Houston’s history is very rich and so is its culture.
Another fabulous historical attraction is the Longwood Plantation in Natchez. Featuring Greek Revival architecture, this plantation home lets visitors get a look at how Mississippi's upper classes lived during the late 1700s and into the 1800s. Built with an octagonal design, this home is said by many to be one of the most impressive historic houses in the world. Surviving intact since 1861, this home truly is one of Mississippi's finest historical treasures.
... Galveston in popularity. People were brought to Houston from the oil boom for jobs and more opportunities. Since the hurricane, Houston has become the main city in southeastern part of Texas. Galveston is still the main port of Texas but is no longer the most prominent it used to be.

Whether it’s receiving success with your education, experiencing the fun of our attractions and events, or maybe even being associated with this improved Mayberry, you always have this wonderful place that you will appreciate in your past. Maya Angelou once said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” That quote is the best description of Phenix City. The people of this town make up that wonderful feeling. When you cross that city line, yes, everything moves slower and it is more laid back. But, I, like Freddie Hart, proudly admit that Phenix City, Alabama is my old hometown!

In Sugar Land you'll have the chance to live in a quiet suburban community, while at the same time still benefit from the economic opportunities of Houston. Houston is known for a number of industries, including nanotechnology, distribution and logistics, Advanced Manufacturing and Technology, Aerospace & Aviation, energy, and Biotechnology & Life Sciences. Sugar Land is located at Highway 6 and Highway 90A, and you'll still be near some of the greatest employers in Houston.
As Americans we live in isolation, surrounded by advertisements, electronic screens, fast food, the internet, etc. We live these lives while thousands scream out in hunger and thirst begging to nourish their families. Living lives in excess, often unknowingly supporting a system that is not sustainable, breeds capitalism, and unplugs us from the rest of the world. Having been raised in a typical suburban home my ideas of culture were going to Olive Garden or walking by Riverside in Minneapolis. However, Geography 111 has challenged what I believed, truly allowing me to grasp that I am not part of solution I am problem that spreads neocolonialism, capitalism, and western culture wherever a profit can be made. Learning about these topics and combining it with a geographical perspective I know will enable me to break from the molds and forge new paths.
The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a campaign that is officially considered to have lasted from December 1st 1955, and lasted for 381 days until December 20th 1956. The reason for the campaign was to achieve de-segregation on all Montgomery, Alabama busses, and then later all busses in America This essay will outline three causes, three consequences and other relevant information relating to this campaign.
Transportation systems and the routes they use have greatly influenced both how and where people live. Reliable transportation allows a population to expand throughout a country's territory and to live comfortably in remote areas far from factories and farms. The growth and expansion of the United States were directly related to the means of transportation available at the time. The more compact cities of the U.S. eastern seaboard are the result of early human- and animal-based transportation systems that allowed only short trips. The more sprawling cities of the western United States are the result of an automobile-based transportation system that permits much longer travel distances.
