Human Service Careers
Human Service professions are extremely important in today’s society. The Human Services profession is one which promotes improved service delivery systems by addressing not only the quality of direct services, but also by seeking to improve accessibility, accountability, and coordination among professionals and agencies in service delivery. In this paper we will be exploring five different Human Service careers. While exploring these careers we will be looking at the primary tasks of this career, educational requirements, population it assists the most, average salary, challenges and rewards, hiring outlook, and if this career would suit me in my pursuit of employment. These professionals help to rehabilitate criminals and also help to ensure that they do not commit any other crimes. Parole officers have many tasks that they do on a regular basis, some of this tasks include, administering drug tests, managing client’s cases, keeping up with clients daily tasks, ensures offenders pay restitution costs and many others("Examples of Duties and Responsibilities - Career Paths for Correctional Probation Officers with the Florida Department of Corrections," n.d.). To pursue this career and individual must have a bachelor’s degree. Furthermore they must be able to pass an “oral, written, and psychological exams (“Parole Officer: Occupational Outlook Handbook: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics," n.d.). This career deals mostly with those being reassessed from prison or those who were placed on probation due to committing crimes. The average annual salary for this career is $48,190 (“Parole Officer: Occupational Outlook Handbook: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics," n.d.).
