Growing and learning is a part of life that no one is exempt from. This fact influences
everyone, whether it be a young child learning to share or an old man learning to let go.
Feld, in The First Seven Years, finds that he has to let go of several of his own issues to
allow his daughter to undergo her own growth and learning.
Feld is the typical father, he wants only the best for his daughter. Feld wants the

The only thing he could do is to keep his silence. "Then he realized that what he had
called ugly was not Sobel, but Miriam's life if she married him." When Feld explains to the
readers that Miriam is always reminded him that she wants freedom, he is revealing to the
reader that he is growing and beginning to understand that he has to let go so, Miriam is
free to live her life, and make her own mistakes.

Students who have a growth mindset learn by facing obstacle because they see them as a way of learning. Dweck says, “In a Growth mindset, however you can make a plan of positive action that can remedy the deficiency” (2). Students have different setbacks, and different ways of dealing with them. Instead of focusing on their failure, students

... She first criticizes Hero’s choice of a ruff; then she indirectly denigrates Hero’s wedding gown by contrasting its simplicity with the duchess of Milan’s lavish garment (3.4.14-23); finally, she mocks the prim and proper Hero by making a coarse sexual allusion (3.4.27). When Hero rebukes her, Margaret refuses to be shamed and defends herself: “[ashamed] of what, lady? Of speaking honorably? Is not marriage honorable in a beggar? Is not your lord honorable without marriage? (3.4.28-31). By implying that honor is achieved not through any marriage but through a “good,” socially suitable marriage, Margaret implicitly criticizes the inequality in her society and expresses her desire for a marriage that will not leave her “below stairs” (5.2.10). But she is acutely aware that she has no such marriage prospects as she resentfully watches Hero’s wedding preparations.

Teachers help us expand and open our mind by giving us skills throughout students’ early life to help students when they are older. By learning information from teachers, students become better people, in a couple of ways. Besides inquiring knowledge from their teachers, students learn to work with one another, open their mind to other peoples’ thoughts and ideas, respect one another, and learn different techniques for life’s issues.

I believe that learning is a journey that both child and educator set out on together. This journey is a privilege that I take seriously, realizing that a child’s early years are a key formative time in their life. I believe that it is during this time that important foundations are being set in place that will not only impact them in the present but will also influence them later on in life.

The most exceptional of educated people have their mind filled with interfering thoughts. These people live within the fixed mindset, believing they have this “gift” and find themselves limiting their abilities and achievements. In Carol Dweck’s book, Mindset:The New Psychology of success, she explains that living in the opposite, growth mindset, can let you achieve endless obstacles with the love of learning and challenge. Your mindset is not just a mindset of your intelligence, but is a tale tell sign of the way you live your life. She discloses that in order to reach your full potential you must continually work at it, nothing comes naturally. The growth mindset is a result of many reasons such as someone believing in you, accepting that success is trying your best, setbacks are motivation, and also learning to take charge and keeping it up. Dweck illustrates that healthy growth mindset can help you live a fulfilling life regardless of the failures that are thrown at you.
