The short story, A Dog’s tale uses the first person narration view. The main protagonists uses the elements that are used in the first person perspective. Such as the protagonists of the story uses the words My,I am, and I in the story, A Dog’s Tale.

The first person narrator is a dogs and they tell the story about their mother who was smart and how many dogs admire her. Although the the protagonist, the narrator is actually the minor character as they tell a story about their mother.

In the first part of the short story, the very beginning the story starts with, “My father was a St Bernard, my mother was a collie, but I am a Presbyterian.” This would mean that the short story starts with the minor character are the major character. Towards the middle of the short story the character changes from minor to major, As the narrator starts to talk about their mother. The short story view in in-between a objective and omniscience as the narrator talks in much detail. An example of this is, “You can see by these things that she was of a rather vain and frivolous character; still, she had virtues, and enough to make up, I think. She had a kind heart and gentle ways, and never harbored resentments for injuries done her”. This would mean that the narrator’s mother was vain and frivolous but had virtues she lived by that made her have a kind and gentle personality. Therefore the point of view changed from first person to third person and in between omniscient and objective
