Educators debate extending high school to five years because of increasing demands on students from employers and colleges to participate in extracurricular activities and community service in addition to having high grades. Some educators support extending high school to five years because they think students need more time to achieve all that is expected of them. Other educators do not support extending high school to five years because they think students would lose interest in school and attendance would drop in the fifth year. In my opinion high school should not be extended to five years. I believe that school should not be extended to five years because students would most certainly lose interest in it. High school is also a students own responsibility and if a student fails then that is their own mistake and should not get an extra year just to have an extra chance of getting better grades to get into college. My last reason is that there will be more student dropouts by the fifth year because of the loss in interest High school should not be raised an extra year just so...
One of the most talked about issues of schooling today, would be year round schooling. The program started as a new way to learn. The old way and still the way most schools calendar is set up was designed the way it is due to harvest times, when the United States was a farming country. There have been many studies done, and some schools have already implemented this program. The studies and the schools that have gone ahead and implemented the program have seen both good things and bad things in their findings. There will be both pros and cons for every issue, and some may see pros and cons differently. Year round schooling is the idea of attending school for an entire year, not all 365 days, but continuously throughout the year. Year round schooling operates on a different schedule to incorporate the same amount of classroom time as a typical school schedule has. The only difference is that the breaks are shorter, but there are more of them in year round schooling. This is the basis of most of the arguments for and against year round schooling.
The founders of the American public school system had a dream that all of America’s youth would have the opportunity to attend school in the best way possible for the times. The educational leaders of today must take up the same mission of providing the best school system imaginable for our modern era. Yearlong education is the solution to many problems that plague teachers, students, and school budgets.
High school students should not have to serve one hundred hours of community to graduate because they already have enough on our plates as it is. Most teens already have multiple things going on in there lives. Adding on one more extra requirement onto the hectic schedules of these teens will cause an overload. The school piles kids down with homework and also expects students to study in order to get good grades, which it should be expected, but that is the limit for most. For example, lets say and average teenager who has to pay for their own care and gas and also other e...
To conclude, resuming the five year high school program will help students in multiple areas of their high school lives. The additional year of high school gives students time to retake courses or improve their overall grades due to increased study time and extra help. It will also provide them with an opportunity to take a course of interest or join after school activities to decrease their workload and stress. Students can prepare financially and academically for college/ university and have more time to explore their options and interests. Bringing back the five year high school program will have a positive impact on students throughout their high school academic success and future planning, therefore, it should be considered by the school board and possible even applied to the high school program.
Students should be required to get a diploma or a GED because of better job opportunities, go to college, and have a job that has higher wages. So, students that are still in high school it would be best if you stayed in school and get your high school
Throughout time education has been considered a process that every so often must be improved. The education quality in the U.S. has declined over the years and people have been looking for a way to make improvements. A more recent proposal has been to go from a traditional nine-month schedule to an all year program. Supporters of year round school claim it gives the student a better education. However, the prospect of year round school is not beneficial to the taxpayers pocket, to the education a student receives, or to the people involved with the district.
Students should be required to stay in school until age 18. Staying in school longer allows for more time to earn enough credits to graduate. Experts say that having a high school diploma allows for better job opportunities and higher earnings. With a better job, there will be more job satisfaction. If the minimum age requirement for high school is 18 years, then there will be a lower dropout rate, higher average earnings, and higher job satisfaction.
Some school districts offer programs that allow high school students to graduate in three years instead of the traditional four years. Most students who follow this plan must take courses during the summers or in the evenings or may not be able to take elective courses. In my opinion I think it is okay for students to finish high school in three years and enter college or the workforce one year early.
Every student should graduate from high school ready for college or a career. Every student should have meaningful opportunities to choose from upon graduation from high school. I believe the U.S. need to implement a performance-based education system, where students would complete state board qualifying examinations in the equivalent of tenth grade and then progress to either two more years of high school (for academically inclined students) or to community and some state colleges (for students who wanted to enroll in technical or vocational programs).
Do kids and teachers ever get tired of school? or do they love it? if all year-round school arrived, would teachers rather get bored like crazy or have a summer vacation.Which side would kids and teachers pick?
Should school be year round? Well, I say yes because our young people will get done with High School faster. And if school was year round, students will not have a chance to get in a lot of trouble and they will not be able to join a gang or have time to hang on a block because they will not have a long summer break. Somebody needs to bring this problem to the school board to see if they will make the change to save many students’ lives by keeping them off the streets and keeping them in school all year long. If the children were in school longer, they will most likely turn out better, but it’s up to the people of communities to push kids through school. I believe parents need to stand up for their kids’ rights to help them have a better future by helping to make school last all year.
Should school last year-round? School is a thing that is needed for kids but is it really needed for a whole year? In this essay I will be giving information I have found about year-round school. I will also be talking about the history of year-round school. Why would we need more school?
The purpose of a high school education is to prepare one for college and ultimately, the workforce. By the end of freshman year, in high school, the average student has learned a sufficient amount of material in enough subjects that he or she can be considered "well-rounded" in his or her studies. This is because the rate at which material is covered in schools, across the nation, has increased dramatically compared to the past. Students now learn more advanced curriculum at a younger age, and this continues to become more evident year after year. High school has now become more focused on teaching students a small amount of information on several essential subjects, rather than having them focus deeply on the subjects they seek to pursue in their career.
Should the school year be is a topic that has been under discussion for many years. Many believe that the school year is just fine while others may argue that it should be extended. Getting an education has become more demanding and there is also more information that students are to learn before entering the real world of college and life beyond. There are also many days that students have off such as holidays, breaks, and snow days.
...ke school something that the students can look back on and think that it was a meaningful time where they learned a lot about life instead of a time where they thought they would have a break down because they got a low score on a test. School should be a time to make mistakes in a safe environment that they can learn from, not a place that they are petrified to make a mistake for fear of retribution on their grade cards. Its time to change the school system to save future students from becoming stress crazed and to let them know that there is more to this world than a grade card and in the long run it is a very small fraction of life.
