Designer babies, the new form of creating the perfect baby using ethical medical techniques. These days’ technology is consuming our lives in so many different ways. A new genetic engineering system, also known as “Designer Babies”, is a process of modifying DNA of the embryo achieving desirable appearances. Designer babies are made through in-vitro fertilization (IVF), a process where a females’ embryo is taken from multiple females, to ensure that the embryo is healthy, and is mixed with a male’s sperm to create the beginning of the designer baby. This basically changes the life of the child, sometimes for the better or even for the worst. Modifying an unborn baby’s genes has been praised by many parents for allowing them to “scheme” their dream child. Taking advantage of these opportunities can include being able to choose gender, hair color and eye color, and other physical appearances. On the plus side, access to the newest technologies can assist with reducing defects and diseases, such as, autism, down syndrome and other genetic illnesses diagnosed before the child is born.
