'Watch your footing here,' warned Holt. The slope fell away steeply from the path. Below a small stream rushed and tumbled over large boulders and between deep gullies on its way to join the River Coblyn down in the valley. They climbed steadily upwards. Surefooted, Holt, and the Elves had to hold themselves back so Eldon and the children could keep up. Once Jessica slipped, but Eldon's strong hands came to her rescue, gently lifting her up and setting her back on her feet. Eventually, they reached the outcrop. Here the waters flowed out of a cavern set back amongst damp, moss covered rocks, and dropped, spray sparkling in the moonshine into the shadows below. 'We should rest here for a moment,' Rosewing suggested. Set amidst jagged rocks …show more content…
'I DO NOT KNOW WHO SAID IT!' he shouted at the top of his voice. 'Ssshhh. Quiet,' came a chorus of voices. He leant closer the Jessica. 'All I said was, that it is said in these parts that if you listen closely on a still dark...' 'Yes, I know that,' interrupted Jessica. It was silent for a moment, Jessica glanced sideways at Holt, thinking. 'So why say it then, if you don't know who said it,' she finally said. He screamed in frustration. 'I did not say, I knew who said it.' With that he jumped up and stomped off towards the cavern, muttering to himself. 'What's the matter with him?' Jessica asked her sister. Danielle suppressed a smile. 'I think you may have upset him.' Jessica shook her head. 'It's probably a Gnome thing.' They collected their things and followed Holt. Eldon produced two lanterns from the pack he was carrying. They gave off a strange but bright light when switched on, but did not appear to be battery operated or have a flame. 'Do not ask me how they work,' Eldon said when he saw the children's interest. 'Ancient magic of some kind, we received them from

My life so far has been like a good hiking path. A path that is winding and twisting and encompassed with plenty of beauty. A path that is lined with trees like angels protecting you from the mysteries in the deep forest and that keep you rooted on the path you are destine to take. One that is filled with deep troughs and the most beautiful peaks you could ever image. Sometimes the path is rocky and hurts the soles of your feet until they crack and bleed, but other times it’s covered with a soft green moss that lifts your steps and revives your spirits. Through the last 17 years of my life, I have traveled that path and endured every step. I have gone into the dark abyss of the trough and have found in it the most precious grace of light. As I have gotten older I have come to recognize that the scary and shaky steps of my path have indeed been “fearsome blessings” (Buechner, 92).
Ralph shook his head rapidly, standing up, and grabbing a hold of the mirrors frame. “No, Piggy, I didn’t! Honest!”
On the bank of the water, the lifeless trees swayed heavily in the enduring winds. Clouds could be seen not far off in the north, reclaiming the sky rapidly. The mood was changing swiftly as dusk descended dashingly on the hills of the Gabilan Mountains.
‘ Shit‘. He exclaimed, resumed walking, remembered what he’d been trying to recall and hesitated.
“Yes, it is me, no need to whisper though.” She stated, playing around with the hem of her shirt. “I need to talk to you.” She said plainly and Philip kept blinking his eyes, wondering when she would vanish again.
Arthur's raised brows snapped together. "You said you did not know your father. Is everything you say a
Percival shot to his feet, but dizziness forced him to sit right back down on the edge of the cot. “I said no such thing.” The knights chuckled from the corner, and Percival turned to Gaius. “Did I, Gaius?”
“The Hobbit” is a novel written by J. R. R. Tolkien. In the novel, there are many themes presented to the reader through different characters, situations, and their morals and ideas. The themes vary in importance throughout the story, but all are given to help explain or push the story onward. Most of the larger themes are centered around the species and races of characters, as well as showing the characters act the way they do, as well as focusing on the main character of the story, Bilbo Baggins. Smaller themes are also given in the story which help and support the larger ones. For example, two of the largest themes would be the theme of race and lineage deciding your morals and personality and the theme of heroism. The smaller themes that support these are loyalty, bravery, cleverness and cunning, the security of home, wealth, greed, exploration, luck, magic, metamorphosis, and property and community.
I knew taking this shortcut was a mistake, yet I didn't think I had enough strength to keep climbing this monumental cliff with the others. The humidity was affecting my vision and the ground now started to spin. The muscles in my legs felt
Vines weaved their way down from the trees that towered from on top of the rocks. We decided to take off and climb down towards the water pool.
Then, slowly at first, but with ever increasing intensity, a small glimmer appeared on the glossy leaves. Through the whispering blades of grass, a brilliant fire arose from the depths turning the lingering water droplets into liquid silver that dripped from expectant leaves and flowed gurgling into shallow puddles, bathing the young trees with the succulent taste of a new day.
It’s a beautiful morning, as my group of friends and I wake up, we hear the pounding and the thrashing of the water slamming on the moss covered granite rock, I go down the eroded leaf covered pathway to fetch water just like I would do every morning, the sun had just begun to rise, the mixture of scarlet red, orange, and a bleach-like yellow beaming against the hurried water of the river that led into the waterfall shone like flakes of gold floating on top of the whitening water. The serene environment of the surrounding rocks overlooking the waterfall, the ambience of water clashing against the granite, and the aroma of the white pine filling the forest is an awe inspiring experience to all who dare make their way down the narrow and lengthy
