The Development of the Roman Catholic Church

To speak of the development of the Roman Catholic Church, is as if to retell the entire story of creation, all the way from Genesis to present day, and even into the future; because “Ecclesia semper reformanda est” or “the Church is always reforming itself” and, “Every valley must be filled and every mountain and hill shall be made low.” Therefore, it is best to look at a certain point in the life of this particular religion, which, since “the Church is always reforming itself”, is not yet complete. The life of the Church is not a dull, repetitive life; but a fascinating, sustained life; one that is similar to the history of a rightful country which is in eternal war with an undying, persistent enemy who delights in masking its abhorrent profile with anything that might block its path. And yet, the battle is not direct in any manner, rather it is in indirect dueling where the greater success lies. The details of this life have been retold since the days when men lived in caves, so much so that some of them are more backwards than the enemy of the Church himself; but God in his wisdom, recognized that this was a part of the human nature, and so, he has given us a treasure in which small details are just that, and they do not greatly affect the larger image, as long as the mile markers are kept in mind. So, it is one of these episodes of the growth of the Kingdom of God amongst men, which we are to focus on, a time when controversy surrounded the very occurrences which led to one of the strongest systems of beliefs that exist today. Yes, there are many episodes of such nature in the Catholic religion, but one of great significance was the initiation of the papacy, when people from many cultures began to come together, whethe... ... middle of paper ... ...nd especially during the renaissance era, the Church took for themselves the right to collect appropriate artwork to display in the great Cathedrals for the worship of God , because if we are to give anything to God, for he gave us everything, we must give him the best of the best, as such is seen by the Franciscan Father Francisco Figueroa. However, the general public thought that the Church was collecting such items for their personal enjoyment and there came more accusation of corruption. All in all, no matter how harsh the world is to the Church, or how kind they may be, the Catholics must stay strong, for Jesus endured so much, and not only for the believers, but also for all of Creation; and what is better than for the leader to stay strong? No matter the controversy, the ‘Elderly Man of the Vatican’ will conserve his right to maintain his responsibilities.
