Global Warming

Lets face it, humans are terrible. We are arguably the worst thing that has ever happened to this planet. It would probably be better off without us. We have had a devastating effect on our planet’s ecosystem. Climate change is happening, and many say that we are responsible for it. Google defines climate change as “a change in global or regional climate patterns”, in particular change brought on by increasingly high levels of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. High levels of carbon dioxide, and other greenhouse gases, stop the suns rays from being able to leave our atmosphere and thus, warm our planet. This is why this epidemic has earned the quite literal name of “global warming”. For the past few hundred thousand years the amount of greenhouse gases in the earth’s atmosphere have been at natural and comfortable life sustaining levels. But in just the last one hundred or so years, since the beginning of the industrial revolution, the levels of greenhouse gases, in particular carbon dioxide, have gone through the roof. Global warming can, and will, if not stopped, have devastating effects on our planet; possibilities include rising temperatures, droughts, mass extinctions and much more. Humans are having a strong, negative, impact on the environment.

The “greenhouse effect” is the most prominent cause for the rise of global temperatures. According to the book, “Earth’s Changing Environment” the warming of the earth’s climate is due to a collection of gases in the atmosphere. There are various gases in our planets atmosphere, including: water vapor, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane. These gases, called greenhouse gases, absorb a large portion of the radiation from the sun and send it back to the ear...

...the damage that we have already done, but not impossible. It is very important that we do all we can to stop this global crisis before it gets any worse that it already is or there won't be any chance of success.

In conclusion, humans are having a devastating effect on our environment. Ultimately, we all must agree that climate change is happening and it is very frustrating that some deny it. The evidence shows that global warming is real, and human caused. We are all going to be affected by it and it is in all of our best interests to work together to solve this problem. The upshot of all this is that it is fixable, although we have already dug ourselves into a very deep hole there is still a small chance of getting out of it. This may be our last chance to save our planet. If we all do our part we might just stop global warming before it gets get any worse.
