What is global warming and what does it mean. Global warming is any substantial change in Earth’s climate. Global warming refers to climate change that causes an increase in the average temperature of the lower atmosphere. Global warming can have many different causes, but it is most commonly associated with human interference, specifically the release of excessive amounts of greenhouse gases. Global warming is also known as the greenhouse effects. The increase of human population has affected the world. The growth of our population has increased our use of fuel, land and manufacturing. All of these are causing an increase of emissions to go into the Earth’s atmosphere, which is causing global warming.
I did a questionnaire on global warming. I came up with five questions and handed it out to 25 different people. After getting my paper back the result was amazing on how much people knew about it and did not know about it. Twenty people knew what global warming was and the other five didn’t. Only eight people knew what the greenhouse effect was. Also asked if El Nino’s were related to global warming. Seven people said it was related and the other 18 said it wasn’t. With further observations about global warming also asked the people if they knew that climate is becoming more variable and extreme. Nineteen out of 25 knew that the climate has changed. I ask if they knew that sea level is rising and 22 people were aware of it.
As climate change, with glacier melting and moving at a surprising speed a few people say that global climate is booby trapped. Africa and East Asia has been inhibiting precipitation in dry areas cause by El Nino’s. If Greenland ice melts enough, instead of ice dripping into the sea it would be like dumpi...

... care about what global warming has done to our world. These people don’t believe that such things will happen but it started already. If we as a human race can’t find a solution to this problem then there will be no world for us to live in the future. There will be no future for are kids and grandkids. So everyone should be aware of what’s going on and what will happen to earth later in the future.

Climate Change is costing the world millions of dollars and is the biggest issue facing society today. Climate change is causing greenhouse gases to build up, ice caps to melt, etc. Some people believe climate change is not a big issue. For instance in the article “Gospel of The Climate Change Deniers” it is stated, “Barton a guy who called Al Gore ‘totally wrong’ about global warming and advised people to get shade to adapt to rising temperatures” (Kroll). Although, this is an appealing mindset, it is illogical because climate change has many more effects than just warmer temperatures. For example, Frank Ackerman: an economist known for his work in environmental economics and Dr. Elizabeth A. Stanton an environmental economist and
However, climate change is happening. The global average land and sea temperature has increased over the twentieth century, with the North and South Poles being particularly affected (Learmonth, et al., 2006). In turn, this has caused ice cover to decrease and sea levels

...t. The survey showed that 23% of Americans do not believe global warming is happening. This number has risen by 7% since the spring of 2013 (Prigg 2013). If people don’t come to realize this sooner, the earth could be destroyed. First off, global warming is when the atmosphere traps in gases like carbon dioxide which warms the earth. Global warming is happening all around. Ice caps in Greenland and Antarctica are decreasing in mass and the global sea level has rise by 17 cm in the last century (NASA 2013). If people do not see that it is actually happening, the place that has been called home for millions of years will be destroyed. Global warming is not a situation to be ignorant with. In some situations, ignorance is the better choice; however, there are some situations where being ignorant at the wrong time leads to destruction. It all depends on the situation.
As referenced in Al Gores ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ 97% of the peer reviewed scientific reports regarding global warming within the scientific community, determined that global warming is an undeniable fact. The majority of the world’s population is not exposed to this scientific evidence; only the media's interpretation and distortion of the facts based on the head of their organisations
“Climate change is real. It is human-caused. We’re seeing the effects now.” (Romm, 2014). Climate change is an important issue the public is aware of, but do not see how their individual responses can have an impact on such a large global issue. Changing people’s temporal habits and attitudes about climate change will be a challenge. As the impacts of anthropogenic climate change are felt more often in our daily lives, people around the world will begin to adjust their temporal habits for greater sustainability of the natural environment we solely depend on for our survival.
Scientists are currently having a great debate; are the arctic storms at lower latitudes normal weather patterns? Or are they happening due to human activity? The effects of climate change are reshaping weather patterns all over the g...
For a majority of people, it isn’t new news that the Earth’s climate is changing and increasingly getting warmer. For quite some time now, people have been arguing about what the actual causes are and what role humans have played in the current condition of the earth. A good bit of people seem to be in agreement that due to the actions of humans, the earth’s climate is increasingly getting worse and that if things don’t change, than everyone living on earth will be facing the consequences. However, this is not entirely true. The fault of climate change does not fall solely on the shoulders of mankind, but on the earth as well.
Yahya Mir Laborde A AP English 1 April 4, 2024. The Fallacy of the Upper Class Many people believe that money is the solution to any problem. Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and its oceans, a change that is believed to be permanently changing the Earth's climate. While it changes the Earth’s climate it takes away different species that we depend on and some which other species depend on and also effect (in a bad way) the environment in which we live and can cause permanent damages to humans, animals, plant which will change the whole chain of ecosystem.
It is an unquestioned fact that the climate is changing. There is abundant evidence that the world is becoming warmer and warmer. The temperature of the global land average temperature has increased by about 8.5 degrees centigrade from 1880 to 2012 (Karr, et al 406). The one or two degrees increase in temperature can cause dramatic and serious consequences to the earth as well as humans. More extreme weather occurs, such as heat waves and droughts. The Arctic Region is especially sensitive to global climate change. According to the data in recent decades, the temperature in the Arctic has increased by more than 2 degrees centigrade in the recent half century (Przybylak 316). Climate change has led to a series of environmental and ecological negative
Some unenlightened individuals insist global warming does not exist because recent winters have reached record-breaking temperatures; however, global warming does not pertain strictly to heat. It relates to the extremes in temperature differences, both hot and cold, proving the issue does exist. With the temperature anomaly significantly increasing from a steady 0.0 in 1940-1980s to 0.7 in 2016, “97 percent or more of actively publishing climate scientists agree: Climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities”(NASA) To clarify, weather is the “conditions of the atmosphere are over a short period of time, and climate is how the atmosphere "behaves" over relatively long periods of time”(NASA). Others simply claim there is not enough evidence proving climate change, therefore reject the problem. A study done on “Singapore Students’ Misconception of Climate Change” by Chew-Hung Chang explores the concepts and processes of climate change. Although they had an idea of what it was, their knowledge “was composed of incomplete and incorrect elements.” (Chang). Improving this problem requires taking care of the environment, which most humans take for granted and are too lazy to care and/or try. There are arguments which state climate change is not a priority compared to other issues. However, ignoring climate change can lead to the death of our earth, and without it, there would be no additional issues because all of humanity will have been wiped
The controversial subject of global warming according to a large amount of scientists is not a prominent concern. Over 31,000 scientists have signed on to a petition saying humans aren't causing global warming. More than 1000 scientists signed on to another report saying there is no global warming at all. There are tens of thousands of well-educated, mainstream scientists who do not agree that global warming is occurring at all. If so many scientists believe it is not a concern then why should we think any different? Well, a consensus shows that in reality 97% of all climate scientists agree that global warming is an issue and that it is most likely due to ...
Global Warming is a condition caused by greenhouse gases and human activities. The increased concentration of greenhouse gases due to activities such as deforestation and fossil fuel burning is causing the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans to warm up. As a result of this, global warming has some serious effects in the shape of extreme weather, species extinctions, and rising sea levels. These effects can contribute to the changes that are taking place all over the world, most of which are dangerous enough to pose a threat to the survival of life on Earth in the future.
The common definition of global warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants (Global warming, Wikipedia). Moreover, the effects of global warming will bring ecological and social changes. Because there is no exact way to predict the effects of global warming, it is almost impossible to say how strong global warming will affect life in the future.
