There are plenty of convincing arguments that lead us to an understanding of the dangers of vaccines and the hazards of the government forcing them. “About 30,000 cases of adverse reactions to vaccines have been reported annually to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) since 1990, with 10-15% classified as serious, meaning associated with permanent disability, hospitalization, life-threatening illness, or death” (VAERS). These facts are a sad truth. The fact that 30,000 people have lifelong problems now due to the adverse reaction to the vaccines is sad. Because of these reactions there were compensations made to make these side effects justified. “Between 1989 and July 1, 2014, 3,645 compensation awards have been made by the …show more content…
This is not too convincing due to the fact that it says “may be associated with” because there is not real proof, but it is a speculation. Something that is alarming for me and should be alarming for you is that the Center for Disease Control and Protection has an entire page dedicated to the many possible side effects of vaccinations. In this case it is important to weigh the possible side effects with the positive benefits of being vaccinated. All of this enthralling data and facts can show us that vaccines can cause serious or sometime fatal side effects. As we develop our thoughts about the serious and sometimes fatal reactions that can occur from vaccines we must also look at the ingredients that these vaccines contain. Regarding the harmful ingredients found in vaccines, the American Academy of Pediatrics published a policy, Aluminum Toxicity in Infants and Children, that said too much “Aluminum can cause neurological harm” (AAP2). There were tests conducted that proved that there was neurological brain impairment because of aluminum in the …show more content…
Now that we have looked at the many arguments for and against vaccines, we will now take a stance on the controversial issue. There used to be the ability to exempt your children from vaccinations due to religious reason, but that is not longer allowed due to the new law recently passed. How can this new law do this when the First Amendment of the US Constitution says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" (FirstAmendment). The government just went right over the constitution and made a law without seeking approval from the constitution. Mary Baker Eddy made a bold statement and said that the "calm, Christian state of mind is a better preventative of contagion than a drug, or than any other possible sanative method… the ‘perfect Love’ that ‘casteth out fear’ is a sure defense" (Vidula). This goes right along with the freedom of religion. We should be able to believe what we want and the government should not be able to control what is done to
There is a war going on against parents that refuse to vaccinate their children. It is coming from the government that makes and enforces laws requiring parents to vaccinate their children, hostile parents of vaccinated children, and doctors that refuse to see unvaccinated children. They are concerned about the potential health risk unvaccinated children pose to the public. These parents aren’t lunatics but are concerned parents that are trying to make the best choice for their children. In fact, these parents aren’t fighting alone; a number of pediatricians and medical experts are apart of this crusade and have taken the lead. They will tell you there is an agenda, “Vaccine manufacturers, health officials, medical doctors, lead authors of important studies, editors of major medical journals, hospital personnel, and even coroners, cooperate to minimize vaccine failings, exaggerate benefits, and avert any negative publicity that might frighten concerned parents, threaten the vaccine program and lower vaccination rates.” 4
The article’s information is presented with the goal of informing a reader on vaccines. The evidence is statistical and unbiased, showing data on both side effects and disease prevention, providing rates of death and serious illness from both sides. This evidence is sourced from a variety of medical organizations and seems reliable, logical, and easily understood, no language that would inspire an emotional response is used. The validity of studies is not mentioned in the article, but it does encourage readers to investigate further to help make a decision. The article allows a reader to analyze the presented evidence and come to their own
“Vaccinations are causing a major upsurge in childhood diseases, adult maladies, and even deadly ailments such as Gulf War Syndrome and Lou Gehrig’s disease” (Blaylock). Every now and then an individual’s doctor calls telling them about the latest vaccine they should receive. The person immediately schedules a time to come in and get it done. But do they even give a second thought about it? Have they ever thought that maybe they do not need another vaccination? Many people have not taken the time to seriously think about the process of immunization. The truth is, there are many dangers that the average person should be unaware of. Rarely do vaccines actually accomplish what the public has been told. In fact, a lot of vaccines contain harmful substances that have been linked to disorders such as autism. The lack of education and dishonesty from doctors are putting people in danger of health problems without even realizing. Many parents feel obligated for their children to get vaccinated because of school, not knowing they have the alternative option of refusing immunization.
I attended the IPE Film and Book Experience on Thursday July 18, 2016 and we watched a NOVA PBS documentary titled “Vaccines: Calling the Shots.” The members of my team and the college/profession they represent are listed below:
Vaccination was first introduced globally for small pox and later on extended to other communicable diseases which are now known as vaccine preventable disease. Vaccination is beneficial both for individuals and community. This bring us to the ethical dilemma - Vaccination of a healthy child with the intention of protecting both the individual child and the community at the same time exposing the child to the theoretical risk of exposure to disease products whether live, attenuated or killed. There was a time when people never questioned the government or their physicians. Now because of more public awareness and accessibility to medical information, they are questioning the safety aspects of vaccines.
... you wait, the more likely your child’s immune system will be able to handle the onslaught with minimal damage” (Sarah). I am not suggesting that we return to the days without vaccines. But we must seriously address what appears to be an obvious link between the epidemic of developmental delays, autoimmune diseases, and the increasing number of mandatory vaccines. Every parent should know the advantages as well as the dangers associated with each and every vaccine, each and every time it is given. They should know the positive and negative consequences of refusing that their children be vaccinated, and be made aware of how they can go about getting exemptions. Also-- the government, industry, health-care professionals, and parents must band together to get the research needed to determine the safety of these vaccines. The stakes are too high for us to do otherwise.
Vaccines have many disadvantages, which justify a parent’s right to chose if they want to take the risk of vaccinating their child or not. The leader of a family, not the leader of a nation, should make this choice. The diseases and disabilities caused by vaccines are too substantial to ignore. More solid, long-term research should be done before they are deemed safe and mandatory. The innocent civilians who lost their lives in this war against disease are the biggest reasons of why the weapons of choice, vaccines, should be reevaluated.
Nothing means more to a parent than their children. What is at odds in the debate over vaccinations is how they show it. On one side, you have parents that believe that vaccinating their kids is the best way to keep them healthy. On the other side you have parents that believe saving their children’s souls is more important, and vaccinating their children goes against their religious beliefs. The 1st amendment states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” That right is under attack by mandatory vaccinations in America. Whether we believe in vaccinations or not doesn’t matter, protecting religious freedom is what is at stake. Bobby Jindal said it best,
Just like prescription drugs, vaccines can be a harmful risk. For example, the small pox vaccine that is recommended by government health officials carries a risk for complications like inflammation of the brain which can lead to damage of the brain or even death. People who believe we should have mandatory vaccinations will say that vaccines have saved many lives, and though its true vaccines have also caused many serious and sometimes fatal side effects. There are also many cases where many parents strongly believe that some vaccines may have caused autism in their children. The reason being that many parents noticed shortly after their child was vaccinated they noticed symptoms like loss of language abilities and they were suddenly stopped interacting with people. Also, the vaccines used to treat measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) are linked to many autism cases. Vaccines that contain thimerosal, which is an organic compound that contains mercury, has also been suspected to cause autism in children. Thimerosal has been removed from most vaccines because of its linkage to autism. Scientist believe that MMR vaccines trigger a regressive form of autism, because the measles virus in the vaccine embeds itself in the intestine, causing some kind of reaction in the brain. Mercury, a chemical element, is used in a lot of vaccines can be very dangerous. High levels of
The American people have rights, and one of those rights is to decide what we want administered into our bodies. I think it is very important to educate others on the risks of vaccines so that they can decide what is fit for them. I also want to bring awareness to the difficulties people face to keep vaccines out of their bodies and their children’s bodies. It should not be a struggle. We have rights to our own bodies and we should not be treated any differently for choosing not to vaccinate. I do not get the flu shot, nor do I get every new shot thrown my way by doctors, and I am perfectly healthy. In fact, I rarely get sick. I depend on natural immunity and other natural means for my health, and that works great. (“Vaccines ProCon.org.”) Barbara Low Fisher, Co-founder of National Vaccine Information Center, stated, "If the State can tag, track down and force citizens against their will to be injected with biological products of known and unknown toxicity today, there will be no limit on which individual freedoms the State can take away in the name of the greater good
According to the CDC, gel or salts of aluminum are added as adjuvants to help the vaccination stimulate a better response. Adjuvants are known to enhance the vaccination. Without adjuvants in vaccinations, children may need more than one dose to keep them protected. According to what goes into a vaccination, the mention of aluminum in vaccines makes parents uneasy; that is since there has been some evidence that long-term exposure to high amounts of aluminum can contribute to brain and bone disease. Aluminum is present in food, water and even breast milk. Aluminum has only been shown to harm people absorbed in high amounts. In contrast, the amount of aluminum in vaccines is negligible (What). The amount of aluminum in vaccines is small. Infants have a small naturally occurring amount of aluminum in their bloodstream. The quantity of aluminum in a vaccine is so small it doesn’t cause any noticeable raise in this base amount found in the blood, even immediately after an
By relinquishing the right of adults to choose whether they get vaccinated or not, the government is devaluing the individual, in essence, the government is putting the collective ahead of the group, this concept is a key foundation in democratic centralism, better known as Communism. Individual rights was a huge basis on the foundation of the US(US Constitution), denying the rights of the individuals to chooses whether they get or not, breaks this foundation(Darrell). Requiring vaccination also brings many issues into play, such as making the time to take all the vaccinations, and many vaccinations can’t be taken all at once, and this results in them breaking their normal schedule. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, a former ophthalmologist, agrees while vaccines are a wondrous thing, but freedom should not be compromised in the sake of universal vaccination(Rand
There have been many issues surrounding vaccinations all around the world. Vaccines are made with dangerous toxins that can cause disorders in many different people. Dr. Joseph says that almost all vaccines are made with immune adjuvant, which causes the immune system to react in a harmful way (qtd. in Garcia). Some serious side effects of the immune adjuvant include lowering of intellectual and sexual abilities and death in serious cases (Garcia). Also, in a recent study Mark Geier and David Geier found that thimerosal in vaccines is linked to neurodevelopment disorders, such as autism. They found...
Some religions are opposed to the chemicals found in the vaccines and how they go against the beliefs of the church. Other religions do not support the actual receiving of the vaccine and only support ways of natural immunity. This is the main cause for religious exemptions, and although some claim that asking a parent to vaccinate “violates religious freedom” (Huff), public schools are not the place for the practice of religion. Public schools are a place for everyone, not just those that support a specific religion. Everyone deserves the right to surround themselves with people who are
