This quotation applies to the novel "The Dangerous Game" in multiple ways, such as: Rainsford is in a life or death situation and he's under a lot of pressure, due to this, his true personality is exposed, additionally, Rainsford encounters the hard decision of whether he should spare General Zaroff's life or not. In that situation, no one is there to tell him what he should or should not due, so in the end, whatever he chooses to do will show his true character, therefore Rainsford is "in the dark."
The quotation by Dwight Lyman Moody applies to Rainsford in "The Dangerous

Darryl’s life is worth fighting for. “You can’t buy what I’ve got.” ‘The Castle’ directed by Rob Sitch, about one man, his family and neighbours on the verge of being homeless. Darryl’s way of life is simple yet filled with family values. 3 Highview Crescent is the home to Darryl, his wife Sal and their 3 children: Wayne, Steve, Tracy and Dale. His neighbours, also in the same bout are almost family to the Kerrigans. Jack and Farouk are another reason why Darryl’s ready to take matters into his own hands.
“Rainsford’s second thought was even more terrible. It sent a shudder of cold horror through his whole being. Why had the general smiled? Why had he turned back?” This quote is important for us to know because it creates suspense overall in the story and helps to keep it interesting. It also helps to show more of the dynamic change that Rainsford is going through. “Then it was that Rainsford knew the full meaning of terror.” At the beginning of the story, Rainsford was overconfident and was not fearful of much.
In “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, Sanger Rainsford is shown as serious, cunning, and determined. Rainsford is shown to be serious in the story when he speaks
As we read “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, we are introduced to Rainsford. The true survivor expresses several characteristics that help him to defeat General Zaroff and win the game. Connell not only shows us that by being confident, quick thinking and adaptive, Rainsford is able to survive against the most inhumane people like General Zaroff, but he concludes that these characteristics of a true survivor can help us to survive conflicts of our own society as well.
Rainsford headed off and had spent two hours making his way across a bush all the while repeating the phrase, “I must keep my nerve” (Connell 11). Rainsford tried to keep calm in a terrifying situation because he wanted to live. He was being motivated by the idea of living so he kept persevering. Rainsford had jumped into the sea to get away from the General and it had worked because later that night Rainsford snuck into the General's room and challenged him. Rainsford ultimately won the game and won the privilege of sleeping Zaroff's excellent bed, because we can infer that Rainsford killed him (Connell 15). Rainsford took a chance and jumped into the sea because he knew he wasn’t going to give up without a fight. When Rainsford showed up in his room he knew the general would not let him leave so he challenged him in order for him to stay alive, again taking a chance in order to live. Throughout the story Rainsford had changed, leading up to this moment when he won the game, stayed alive, and killed the general. In the beginning Rainsford was motivated by the great sport of hunting, but then near the end Rainford's only motivation was to stay
Although pride can lead to beneficial outcomes, pride with the absence of empathy can lead to a devastating result. The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell shows that having too much pride and no empathy can get someone in some terrible trouble. The theme is proven by Rainsfords pride and unempathetic-ness, how the general had too much pride, and how the general only saw himself as the hunter, not the hunted.
As the sweltering, hot sun signified the start of a scorching afternoon, a young boy lay in the fields harvesting vegetables for another family. He had been enslaved to perform chores around the house for the family, and was only given very few privileges. While his stomach throbbed with pangs of hunger, he continued cooking meals for them. After the family indulged in the cozy heat from the fireplace, he was the one to clean the ashes. Despite his whole body feeling sore from all the rigorous work he completed, the young boy had been left alone to suffer. As months passed by, he desired independence. He wanted to cook his own food, make his own fire, harvest his own plants and earn money. The lad soon discovered that he needed faith and courage to break away from his restricted environment. When put in a suppressive situation, every person has the aspiration to escape the injustice. This is what Harrison Bergeron and Sanger Rainsford do to liberate themselves from the external forces that govern their lives. Harrison, the main character of “Harrison Bergeron” written by Kurt Vonnegut, is a strong, fourteen year old boy whose talents have been concealed by the government. Growing up in an environment where equality has restricted people’s thinking, Harrison endeavors to change society’s views. Rainsford, the main character of “The Most Dangerous Game” written by Richard Connell, is a skilled hunter who believes that animals were made to be hunted; he has no sympathy for them. Stranded on island with a killer chasing him, he learns to make rational choices. While both Harrison and Ranisford are courageous characters, Rainsford’s prudence enables him to overpower his enemy, whereas Harrison’s impulsive nature results in him being ...
It is not wise for a predator to underestimate its prey. In “The Most Dangerous Game,” written by Richard Connel, General Zaroff has become disinterested in hunting simple animals; he needs the challenge of hunting an animal that can reason. Mr. Rainsford is the next item on General Zaroff’s menu. The only way to get out is by beating Zaroff at his own game. A game of hunting that means life and death. Zaroff is the hunter and Rainsford is the hunted. In, “The Smuggler,” written by Victor Canning, Tasso, like Rainsford, is being contested by a predator. He is known as the Great Man. The Great Man is interrogating Tasso for smuggling. Tasso must be clever at how he responds and how he displays himself, for his life is in danger. The antagonists

In the book, The Game of Their Lives, the story’s plot revolves around overcoming the odds and doing the impossible. The book is an underdog story about how the United States Men’s National Soccer Team defeated the superpower, England, in the 1950 World Cup. It isf about how the little guy defeated the big guy. The odds of them defeating the team expected to win the whole tournament, England, was near zero. Despite all the statistics, however, the United States National Men’s Soccer Team defied the odds and shocked the world and England. I myself have had an underdog experience in
