“What is important is that we each make a sincere effort to take our responsibility for each other and for the natural environment we live in seriously.” This is a quote that The Dalai Lama said during his nobel peace prize speech. His actual name is Lhamo Dondrub. He won this prize for his actions in promoting the principles of Liberty and Freedom in China occupied Tibet. I agree with what he said in this quote for many different reasons. I agree with this quote because in my mind it is true. We need to make an effort to try and help each other. We also need to keep the environment in good shape. If we don’t do both of those the world will become an awful place, worse than it is already. If everyone doesn’t make an effort to keep everything
...orld, not to despise it, not for us to hate each other, but to be able to regard the world and ourselves and all beings with love, admiration, and respect.' (147)
I believe that nature and its natural resources are here for us to use, but the management of these resources should very careful and make sure that will have these resources forever. I also believe that people are not a separate part of the community. Leopold ideas sound better to me for example, we are part of the community, global issues (from his observation over the years), etc.
humanity is our burden, our life; we need not battle for it; we need only to do what
Happiness has always been a desirable goal throughout our lives, but each actions we take might just affect the happiness of others. When humans seek happiness, we always seek for things that make us feel alive, or things that brings us the greatest comfort. Our contentment comes with the act of selfishness since we choose to prioritize our happiness above all other. We willingly classify happiness in two different types of meaning, both physical and mental happiness. People ought not be in title to happiness because it is classified in general as a physical desire by many people. Contentment is always known to be a physical satisfaction in life instead of a self-inducing satisfaction for life.
Dr. King had been one of the greatest leading person during the 21st century. Fifty years later till this day, the message he has portrayed, is still being reviewed today. The ideas that King had brought along in his speeches would still be relevant to civil problems that are occurring in the United States currently. One of the most incredible moments in his life at the time was when he conveyed his tendency from human rights onto the stage of the world; educating the listeners, while obtaining the Nobel Peace Prize Award.
The speaker is Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani girl; she is sixteen years old. She was shot by Taliban in on October 2012. “I believe that we are solely responsible for our choices, and we have to accept the consequences of every deed, word, and thought throughout our lifetime.”
Our planet is a thing of beauty. It is known as the only planet that sustains an abundance of life. This is due to the perfect balance of natural resources that provides life giving sustenance. My mother always tells me “if you take, you need to give.” I always thought that she meant that I should appreciate what I have and always give of my time and resources to those who are less fortunate than me. However, my mother’s saying now rings true for me as I am now able to apply this saying not only to myself as a human being but to the natural world and environment around me that maintains life.
According to the Dalai Lama, the value of self-discipline is interconnected to the value of contentment. Self-Discipline is rarely effective when imposed by fear by external stimuli, such as religious and work institutions. The value must be embraced at one’s will. By having a healthy sense of self-discipline, we can maintain the determination and motivation required to live in contentment.
“Small acts when multiplied by millions can transform the world” (Common Dreams). This quote by Howard Zinn can be interpreted by implying that as long as everyone tries within their reach to help every situation that they can, then the world shall be a better place. This means that small measures may not seem to be making a huge difference but when those actions are multiplied by or totaled to the actions being performed by all; then a huge and significant impac...

...s that one can define. To me this quote means that saving one life can also save the world entire. Meaning one life is good enough to create a whole generation if not the world itself. Tracing back into one’s lineage, passing our great grandparents, passing our four fathers, all the way down to Adam and Eve both of them were two individuals with more or less similar characteristics but opposite sex. From Adam and Eve, billions of generations have been created with different background, shapes, religions, etc, which makes us respect the wonders of God and let’s us know that far down our lineage everyone arose from the same mother and the father and this racial violence in certain countries along with other racial issues that take place which do not get publicized need to stop and ponder on the fact how important is one’s life if not the existence of their own self.
For each individual, there are many ways to save the earth which they must know and do. First and foremost, people must
