Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the new discovery in the cure of peanut allergies.

Thesis Statement: Peanut allergy, a type of allergy that is very common these days among children and which results in many deaths yearly, now might have a cure, and today I will talk about the peanut allergy and its symptoms and the new proposed cure for it.

INTRODUCTION:

I. Attention Getter: According to Food Allergy Research & Education Inc., “Every 3 minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency department – that is more than 200,000 emergency department visits per year.” ("Food Allergy Research & Education", n.d.)

II. Credibility Statement: I myself don’t have the peanut allergy, but I know people who do and because of this I always wanted to know if there is a possible cure for this, and with my COM114 speech I got the opportunity to do so, and today I will discuss my findings with you.

III. Relating to the Audience: Peanut allergy is an epidemic that is growing rapidly especially in the United States, and is most commonly found in children, many of us might have peanut allergy or would know people who do, and today I am going to talk about a possible cure for it, which might change people’s lives.

IV. Thesis Statement: Peanut allergy, a type of allergy that is very common these days among children and which results in many deaths yearly, now might have a cure, and today I will talk about the peanut allergy and its symptoms and the new proposed cure for it.

Directional transition: Now, that you know what I will be talking about today, let’s first discuss the roots of the peanut allergy and then the new cure.
