The Crucible Critique The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, was performed at Broken Arrow High School in the high school’s black box. The performance was directed by Jana Ellis, and performed by BAHS Tiger Theatre. The cast consisted of Triston Sutterfield, Lauren Young, Chyna Mayer, Phoenix Swords, Ari Wilson, Trevor Phillips, Dru Denny, Claire Keller, Alexa Edison, Sophia Krist, Torri Jordan, Daniel Scout, Maddie Barnes, Sammy Ricketts, Cailee, Bearden, Julian Valles, Camaro English, Caleb Ricketts, Logan Wieberdink, Riley Pritzlaff, Aatif Khan, and Angie Alvarez. The performance was given on Friday, May 5th, 2017. The main theme of the play is how lies and deceit aid hysteria into leading to detrimental effects. In his body movement, Sutterfield embodied his character by modifying his poster, aura, and the way that he carried himself. His facial expressions were modified to help aid the audience better understand his character. His voice was used in a healthy manner, he projected so that he could be heard without causing strain to his voice. He gave his lines in such a manner that he could always be understood and cause strain to the audience in their trying to understand him. Phoenix Swords, as Reverend Parris, gave a believable performance by demonstrating good body movement, using his voice in a healthy manner, and making his lines understandable throughout the performance. His body movement matched the persona of his character. His voice was used in a quite healthy manner, unlike certain times outside of his performance when his voice is used in a manner that sounds unhealthy and almost strenuous.
