You could smell the excitement. Girls, boys, women, men, babies,
everyone. If you stepped into a fairground at anytime it would be
writhing will people packed to the rafters unable to move, any shape
any age and I guarantee, every single one of them would be having a
great time.
The first ride you go on would be a “Midi”. A “Midi” is a ride not as
boring as the floating swans, but not as scary as the Oblivion, for
example. You see the boring ones are called “Bozes”, because they are
just – boring, the scary ones are called “Scazes” because like I said
they are scary then the bits in between are called “Midis” you really
go on them to get started off because if you started on a scary one it
would be too much too soon. A classic “Midi” would probably be the
Walters because it gets you started, a boring one would be “The
Crooked House” but no mater how boring it would be you have to go on
it – it’s the law. A typical scary ride would be something with a gory
name like the “Gut Guzzler” or the “Brain Basher”. The ones where you
cant walk when you’ve got off, the ones where they throw you 50 feet p
into the air and you loose your eyes to the sky.
You can see the different coloured lights a mile off, luminous
yellows, greenspi8nks, reds and blue. When you get into the grounds,
it takes you five minuets to read the words they’re spelling out, that
is if you don’t go to fairs often, I could tell you what each ride is
just at a glance.
When you get off the Waltzers or the Holly-Wood, you want something to
eat, and you discover it’s “ONE POUND FIFTY FOR A PORTION OF CHIPS?”.
They are all scabby and bruised, but compared to the intest...

stand and your legs are jelly, you cant walk even if someone gave you
a million pounds to do so, to your amazement your boyfriend can walk
ad he holds you up. You now regret the scabby chips and you begin to
taste the toffee apple in your mouth again you run for a bin but –
ooops, too late.
You go on the big wheel after you hide the embarrassment of puking in
front of your boyfriend, he soon gets over it and you buy more mints.
On the wheel you see the crowds in the grounds growing thin and you
get a cuddle, you still hear the laughing of men who have had one too
many but this is the time when you see people in a different light,
and this makes me think that the world isn’t such a bad place, you see
everyone at one point can have a good time and not be bitter and evil
always.

Society pressure themselves to be happy; they often ask questions like, “does that make you happy?” What they fail to understand is that sometimes doing the right thing, for the moment, might not seem to bring happiness in one’s life, but after trekking the ups and downs of life, happiness might be waiting on the other side. From time to time people also judge good and bad through happiness. “If something is good, we feel good. If something is
With the Southern Ohio Fair Association taking over the fairgrounds in 1874, the grounds were divided up into nine departments: Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Agricultural, Mechanics, Textile, Farm, Speed, and Grounds. When hearing this information, one would look at the fairgrounds present day and be a little confused. Back in the 1800’s the way to have fun was to race, sell, and buy horses. “The Southern Ohio Fair Association built the Exhibition Hall and a Machinery Hall. The track was enlarged and other improvements were made” (Drury 808). The Exhibition Hall became the focal point of the fairgrounds, and still is today.
The “White City” was a vast collection of architecture and arts that were put on display in the year 1893. The Chicago World Fair, also called the “White City”, was a major event in American history that impacted America’s culture, economic, and industry. The Chicago World Fair was held to honor Columbus’ discovery of the New World. The real reason why it was made was to proudly have back their wealth and power. Larson said, “the tower not only assured the eternal fame of its designer, Alexandre Gustave Eiffel but also offered graphic proof that France had edged out the United States for dominance in the realm of iron and steel…”(15). To accomplish this, architects led by Daniel Burnham and John Root made numerous buildings and beautiful scenery
After reading the poem entitled “Youth”, I felt that James Wright was not only describing the life of his father but also the lives of the many other factory workers in the Ohio Valley. Many of these workers had either dropped out of school or went straight to the factories after high school, never really getting a chance to enjoy their lives as young `````adults. I think that has something to do with the title of this poem. It’s clear that Wright knew his father and the other men were not satisfied with their jobs and just chose not to speak about it. These factory workers slaved away and then came home “quiet as the evening” probably because they were content to just be relaxing at home with their families. They knew that this was their way of life and they had to do it, even if they had big dreams to someday get away. I think that Wright was also trying to make a point that these men who worked so hard every day were not valued as much as they should have been. These men did not have the education to get a higher paying job but they did have the proper skills and knowledge to work in the factories. I like that James Wright mentioned Sherwood Anderson in this poem as I enjoy his work. Anderson left his Ohio hometown for Chicago to pursuit bigger and better things because he knew if he stayed in the area, he would be unhappy. However, it is a little ironic that Anderson one day just got up and left in the middle of writing and was said to have a mental breakdown.
Kids and adults enjoy Amusement Park rides because it is fun and relaxing. If you haven’t tried it, you should try it. The Amusement Parks have rides such as Xtreme Skyflyer, Gold Striker, and Superman roller coaster. I think the most important one is Xtreme Skyflyer because a lot of the people want to try it, and people want to see whole the things when they go very high. The Xtreme Skyflyer is also one of the scary, it 153 feet above ground and dive at speed up to 60 miles per hour while falling 17 stories toward the earth (Great America). This Xtreme Skyflyer is a release of endorphins, which makes us feel euphoric. Which is heightened by the fact that a lot of people feel scared and worried while waiting in line. So, by having you wait
...o are polar opposites. This statement holds true no matter what one believes. To find happiness, the opposing sides must find a suitable balance.
If this sounds like you, then you will be happy to hear that there are so many theme parks scattered across our globe just waiting for you (and me) to get strapped into their fastest roller coaster and make us scream as we tip over the edge.
Evil endures as a never-ending force in opposition of humans, and causes humans immense suffering. This suffering makes it impossible to truly be happy in this life. Although humans can experience brief moments of happiness on earth, they are not truly happy because their happiness will always be temporary. Rather, people attain true happiness in heaven, where the presence of evil is nonexistent and the atmosphere of peace reigns supreme. Happiness, as the ultimate purpose of man’s existence, is attainable only for individuals in heaven who have earned it from an entire life of living under the word of the
Washington our nation’s capital, became the home of the Washington’s Puyallup state fair, in June 1900, when a group of local businessmen, farmers and residents joined together to discuss the idea of a fair in the Puyallup Valley area. 1According to the fair.com/about-us/history/, a board of directors were formed as the governing body of the "Valley Fair", decided the purpose of the Valley Fair Association was to advance the interests of agricultural, horticultural, dairying, stock raising, mining, and manufacturing industries of the Puyallup Valley. 2 Selling shares of stock provided the capital to begin the, Puyallup Fair, it was located on a vacant lot; the dates of the first Fair were October 4-6, 1900. 3 At the time, admission to the first annual "Valley Fair" was $1 per family for all three days. Today admission prices are $12.50 for adults; $9.00 for anyone 62+, for ages 6-18 and it is free for children 5 years or younger.4 Surrounding the fair, was a 10-foot fence which acted as the first main gate. Sheds were built to house exhibits etc. with the left-over wood from building the fence.5 Inside the fair a tent was raised to protect produce, "ladies work," and livestock, horses as well as cows were tethered to a nearby fence.5 At the Fair, the most popular entertainment was horse racing, therefore the fair was built around a race track which was used from 1901-1977. 6 Parking lots were established in 1902, with the invention of the automobile, and people were travelling from all over to come to the Fair.7 At the time parking a buggy or automobile cost only 25 cent, today official fair parking s is $10 on weekdays and $12 on weekends.8 Also today during the Puyallup Fair a number of locals also provide private parking areas...
who achieve sense of meaning in their lives are happier than those who live from one pleasure to another.
Since the release of George Melies’s The Haunted Castle in 1896, over 90,000 horror films have been made. However, none have been more frightening and influential than that of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining and Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. Each a product of horror’s 1970’s and 80’s golden era, the films have a reputation of engulfing viewers in fear, without the use of masked killers, vampires, or other clichés. Instead, Kubrick and Spielberg take a different approach and scare audiences on a psychological level. The Shining and Jaws evoke fear through the use of three different film aspects: the use of a “danger” color, daunting soundtracks, and suspenseful cinematography.
People are evil. Well, everyone except you, of course. They will use you for their own pleasure and personal gains and then cut you down when you least expect it. It’s a cruel world we live in, so it comes as no surprise that often times we may find it hard to stay happy. And if this is frightening to you then that’s both fine and understandable; wallow in your self-pity, and feign contentment in the bottomless abyss of misery and loneliness, for these are comfortable places where it’s perfectly acceptable to put forth zero effort. But if you become a little proactive, you’d find that whatever your dream is, whether it’s being promoted at the office or taking over the world, you’ll see happiness comes with its rewards. And this simple yet seemingly unattainable emotion can be seen from a mile away, in the little act of smiling. Furthermore, correct me if I’m wrong, but does it not more muscles to frown than to smile?
...and goal oriented people you will most likely get the best out of life. If you decide to surround yourself with negative people who don’t have anything to look forward to in life, then you’re setting yourself up to be unsuccessful. Those negative people will try their hardest to bring you down with them.
