Are we really addicted to technology or are we benefiting from it in our everyday lives? Over the years, controversies have arisen over the use of technology, and we have not reached agreement on whether technology is hurting us or we are benefiting from it. Although Parker-Pope and Smith agree that technology must be a tool to bring people together, Parker-Pope sees technology as a barrier to communication while Smith sees technology as a vehicle to alternative ways of viewing the world that combined can lead to human greatness. The increase in Internet speeds like 3G and 4G has led to a reliable and comfortable society since much time is saved in the process. I agree that technology and the internet can affect an individual, a group of people, society, and the world as whole creating habits due to the "overdose" and/or the daily "dose" of this. But, as we have seen, the main and most important goal of technology is to connect people across the globe, regardless of their religious beliefs, home, among other forms of aspects that can hinder communication. However, technology has faced several challenges that have made it fail to achieve its stated goals.
