It was a late fall night in 1970 and I was driving home from a camping trip with my wife. We were talking about all the chores we have to do when we get home like feed all the animals and clean the house up to make it look presentable. We were deep into our conversation when a grey streak bolted out from the bushes and I swerved. The tires screeched, and we crashed into a on the other side of the road. I asked my wife Lisa if she was alright and she said, “Yeah I'm fine.” I told her to get out and lets check if we have any wounds and check out whatever ran out into the road. We got out and I looked at my brand new Chevrolet Stingray: It was destroyed. My one week old brand new car that I spent my whole paycheck on is sitting on the side of the road …show more content…
My wife and I started to walk home and we would deal with all this in the morning after all it was very late and we were both very tired, stunned, and confused. We walked the mile from the road to our house. There is never any cars in this rural area beside mine and maybe a passerby every once in awhile. We put on our pajamas and Lisa fell asleep in my arms. I however could not sleep I just kept thinking about the squirrel and thinking did I hit my head? I checked my head and noticed I did not have any cuts and I was not bleeding anywhere. After checking to see if I am okay I checked my wife and she was clean of cuts and bruises. I felt better that I had checked us and we are fine. I fell asleep around 1 am and had weird dreams all night long. One was about the weird squirrel thanking me on how I had saved him and something about he will repay me. I blew if off believing it was only a dream but when I woke up I made myself breakfast and while my wife was still sound asleep in bed. I made my lunch and went outside to see my Stingray as perfect as it was when I got it. I was
It was the day of April 13, 2000. I woke up at exactly 12 o’clock because my boyfriend was to pick me up at 1 like we planned the night before. The day looked quite nice, but I was in a fowl mood. I got into a car accident the night before and had a huge argument with my parents about the car. I finally dragged myself into the shower and got ready in half an hour. Then I went downstairs, sat on my couch, and repeatedly told myself the day would hopefully turn out better than last night. At around 1:15, my boyfriend came to pick me up. We took the 5 freeway to the 57 since it was the only way I knew how to get there. As we approached the 134 freeway, my girlfriend veered to the right, taking the 210 which was wrong way and got us lost. So, we exited the freeway and got back on the right track. Then finally, before long, we reached Norton Simon.
The University Playhouse’s performance of The Dispute displayed a conglomeration of Greek, Elizabethan, and French Neoclassical staging conventions. This comedy balanced out elements of presentational theatre and non-localized sets reminiscent of Greek theatre with representational theatre and localized sets resonant of Elizabethan theatre. The presence of elements of comedy, Farce, Satire, and the use of deus ex machina within the play utilized French Neoclassical staging conventions adopted from earlier Greek, Elizabethan, and Italian Renaissance conventions. In the following sections, I will discuss the reminiscence of these conventions embraced through this production of The Dispute.
I woke up my dad and told him that it was already light outside. He jumped out of bed and said we had to go. I went outside and started up the truck while my dad was getting dressed. When I opened the door to the trailer I noticed clear blue skies and a light frost that covered the ground. I jumped in the driver's seat of the 1990 white GMC Sierra, pushed in the clutch, and turned the key. The truck hesitated for about ten seconds and then started. I turned on the defroster and the windshield wipers so we wouldn?t have to scrape the frost.
Many historical films are based on true stories, but how many of them are historically accurate? The Great Debaters is based on the true story of an African-American debate team from Wiley college in the 1930s. While this is an extraordinary and inspirational film, it is full of historical inaccuracies.
Have you ever been surfing the web and seen an article about how some group is attacking a product due to some controversy? Have you then proceeded to read about said product and eventually seeking it out to see if it’s as bad as what the mentioned group(s) said? Well, this is how sales are made. I believe that controversy can help sell products by creating curiosity, giving something for people to criticize, and giving something for people to talk about. Are there products that are not socially acceptable to advertise. Is it true that too much controversy can prevent a product from selling?
What's happening?". So I did the only logical thing there was to do - fainted. Thankfully I was just laying in bed, fall to the floor would be just way too much. When I came back, I thought that previous events have been a dream or a hallucination. Which, well, maybe I was still
Once upon a time, in a cabin far away, it was Halloween night October 31st 1973. A group of friends decided to go to a cabin in the woods to celebrate their favorite holiday together. Busses packed full of people were going to the party that me and Skyler had planned. We invited almost the whole school. Finally after hours of searching for our final destination we arrived. Skyler and I were the first to be at that raggedy torn down cabin. We brought the lights and the beers and the snacks , we spent hours and hours of decorating and setting up finally Andy showed up to help with all the heavy work.
It was the last Saturday in December of 1997. My brother, sister, and I were chasing after each other throughout the house. As we were running, our parents told us to come and sit down in the living room. They had to tell us something. So, we all went down stairs wondering what was going on. Once we all got down stairs, the three of us got onto the couch. Then, my mom said, “ Well…”
When the end of my 5th grade year had hit; A land mark of the most traumatizing event of my life was about to take place. My mom had left my father and took us along with her. Over the summer and a few addit...
Conflict theory are perspective in sociology psychology that accentuate the social, political, or material inequality of a social group, that analysis the broad socio-political system, or that weaken from structural functionalism and ideological conservatism. We each possess unique ideas, opinions, beliefs, and feelings about specific situations in life. This uniqueness is a large part of what makes us human. Because we all have our own individual way of looking at things, we each have a different viewpoint on what is proper or improper. With all that variation in society conflict is inevitable! Conflict is antagonistic in nature and we all must find ways to work through conflict issues both at work and at home. This paper describes different types of conflict, the influences I personally had in learning to deal with those conflicts, some of the conflicts that I commonly experience, how I go about dealing with those conflicts, and how conflict affects me on a personal level.
Conflict is unavoidable and connected to a world where different ideas and opinions are challenged. Negative conflict occurs when voices are not expressed appropriately, discussions are not in control or different parties reject moving forward with a solution. There is difficulty resolving disagreements because there are multiple reactions to disputes. However, a positive conflict supports debates without a destructive outcome. They improve communication, introduce principles that are important to others, and reduce chaos. On the other hand, the approach that a person uses to address conflict dictates the outcome they receive. Methods for resolving conflict include avoiding the problem, smoothing out a situation, competing against the ideas
I can clearly remember being in the car on a humid day with a little overcast. We were driving in the car when all of a sudden the wind started to pick up and it started raining a bit. Within five minutes, the weather progressed and there was so much wind blowing around the car that we could no longer hear the radio. I can remember when I saw a stop sign spinning in circles like a “merry-go-round'; with electrical problems. I do not remember how my mother got us home so quickly and where we were because all around us was a thick gray fog. However, all I can recall from that point on was sitting with my head in my lap in the back seat of the car. I never witnessed the true power of nature until this incident.
