The film tries to show how the Americans had almost completely different cultures and civilizations from the Europeans. After the Europeans had completely depleted their resources, they wanted to search for other countries they could pillage (Trebby, 2014). Columbus who was deluded by the idea of travelling to India led a group of Europeans to go and occupy America. However when they arrived to America they did not only bring horses and different civilization, they also brought deadly communicable diseases.
Even in America, some of the civilizations had begun collapsing mainly due to over usage of raw materials and climate changes. However, the change of the civilization was not devastating as the outcomes of the diseases that came with the Europeans. The diseases was estimated by scholars to have wiped out 90 percent of the people living at that time bracket (Anandajoti, 2014).
The effects of the Columbian exchange did not only affect the Native Americans, but also the animals and the plants that the Americans used to cultivate (Grolle, 2013). For example before the Europeans, the Americans used to cultivate potatoes and the problem of weeds was not present but with the coming of Columbus different types of weeds started growing in their lands.
