Once, there was a girl, her name was Robin, and she lived in Canada deep in the woods. She lived with her parents, until January 24, 2089. That was the day when the cold war started between Canada and Russia. Her parents were sent off to go and create as many weapons as possible. So her and her younger brother, Jay, had to live on their own. Robin was 12 years old at the beginning of the cold war, and her brother was only 9. That was awhile ago, though, two whole years to be exact. Luckily, Robin had learned the essentials for life before she was pulled out of school to stay home during the cold war. Her brother, on the other hand, hadn’t gone to school, for he had been shot in the knees by a deer hunter when he was 4 years old, so he was …show more content…
He was just like a normal, now 11, year-old boy. He went hunting, swimming, and did pretty much everything anyone else could do. She can still remember the day her brother had been shot, that was the day she had started to have terrible seizures. For when her brother was shot, it had hurt her as well. The noise had affected her brain development so part of her brain isn’t like it should. Her seizures normally last 3 to 5 minutes, about 3 times a week. At first, everyone had thought she was just faking it, but after a few weeks, they knew something was wrong. They lived near a clinic in case something like this would ever happen. Therefore they took her to the clinic to see what was going on. The doctor had told the parents her brain wasn’t developed correctly. There was an option to fix the issue, but the surgery would be costly. Therefore, they were forced to live with it. After her parents had left, they weren’t very worried about Robin, for her seizures didn’t happen as often as they used to. Her brother was acting as usual and Robin hadn’t had many seizures while the were gone. It has been 6 years since the event. While it was only two years ago when the cold war had

childhood until she was strategically married and sent to France when she was fourteen years
She was born in Bronx, New York in 1964. She was born poor and raised on welfare for a couple of years. Around the age of 10 she moved to Englewood, New Jersey. When she was in college she travel a lot. She visited England, France, Spain, and Russia. While in New York she was on the radio and also organized against racial crimes and miseducation of urban youth. She did and promoted several rallies and concerts in Harlem, which attracted almost 30,000 people and even celebrities. The title of one of her books is The Coldest Winter Ever and in it she tells a common story about how it is to grow up in a drug dealing family or neighborhood and what happens. However, that is not what makes the book interesting. She tells the story from the main character named Winter, but she puts herself in the book and shows how Winter really does not like her because she is talking about the black community. She shows Winter as someone who does not know that there is something outside the drugs, money, and
Defending the weak and helpless has always been a large part of Robin’s morals, which is greatly shown throughout the story. For example, when speaking with Maid Marian at the feast in the woods, he shows her the part of his woods that is dedicated specifically to sheltering and feeding the homeless and poor. This is considered chivalrous because neither the Sheriff or Prince shows enough concern to provide a fair amount of care for everyone in the land, so
as Jennifer, a victim states, “I feel our childhood has been taken away from us and it has left a big hole in our lives.”
QUESTION 2: The Cold War is an international conflict, a global fight between the United States and the Soviet Union that began in Europe in the wake of World War II but quickly expanded into Asia and the Third World. These international events, however, undoubtedly influenced domestic American politics between 1945 and 1965. How did the international Cold War shape, influence, or change domestic American politics in the first twenty years of the conflict?
Another clue that Robin is not the main character is because of how she has brief relationships with the other people in the story. On the other hand, the doctor maintains a long-standing relationship with everyone. For instance, the people the doctor was acquainted with early in the story such as Nora, Felix, and Frau Mann, are still his friends by the end of the novel. While it may be true that Robin makes lasting impressions on everyone, her relationships are brief by

There have been many attempts to explain the origins of the Cold War that developed between the capitalist West and the communist East after the Second World War. Indeed, there is great disagreement in explaining the source for the Cold War; some explanations draw on events pre-1945; some draw only on issues of ideology; others look to economics; security concerns dominate some arguments; personalities are seen as the root cause for some historians. So wide is the range of the historiography of the origins of the Cold War that is has been said "the Cold War has also spawned a war among historians, a controversy over how the Cold War got started, whether or not it was inevitable, and (above all) who bears the main responsibility for starting it" (Hammond 4). There are three main schools of thought in the historiography: the traditional view, known alternatively as the orthodox or liberal view, which finds fault lying mostly with the Russians and deems security concerns to be the root cause of the Cold War; the revisionist view, which argues that it is, in fact, the United States and the West to blame for the Cold War and not the Russians, and cites economic open-door interests for spawning the Cold War; finally, the post-revisionist view which finds fault with both sides in the conflict and points to issues raised both by the traditionalists as well as the revisionists for combining to cause the Cold War. While strong arguments are made by historians writing from the traditionalist school, as well as those writing from the revisionist school, I claim that the viewpoint of the post-revisionists is the most accurate in describing the origins of the Cold War.
The Soviet Union and the United States served as Allies during World War II. At the end of the war however each side wanted to deal with the aftermath differently. The United States was in favor of a peaceful and cooperative relationship with Germany and their Allies. The Soviet Union wanted revenge on the crimes and atrocities that were committed against them. The United States wanted to push democracy in Eastern Europe yet the Soviets countered this by saying the United States was hypocritical, since at that time the United States supported the Latin countries that were governed by dictatorships. The Soviets were under the impression that this was an effort to boost the UNITED STATES economy.
After World War II America and Russia became superpowers. Even thought they fought together against the Nazis they soon became hostile rivals. Between 1945 and
The Seal Oil Lamp is a folktale set in Alaska. The story is about a couple who had a child named Allugua, and they found he was blind at birth. When Allugua was seven years old there was a bleak winter. He found a mouse and took care of it even when there wasn’t enough food. After winter, everyone in the village was going fishing, and the people of the village told the couple to leave Allugua at home so he would fall asleep forever and wouldn’t be a burden on the village. Before they left, Allugua’s mother secretly lit a lamp for him using the last little bit of seal oil. After Allugua took a nap and woke up, the seal oil lamp was still burning. Even through the night the lamp was still burning. In the morning he heard a mouse, it was the Mouse Woman. The Mouse Woman’s child was the little mouse Allugua saved, and she said the mice would give him food and water and the seal oil lamp would continue to burn. Every day mice came and gave him food, water, told him stories, and danced on the back of his hand. One day Mouse Woman came and told
Many people argue that the USA was the pre-eminent superpower throughout the Cold War and since this time the only true global power. While it is seen that the USA was the pre-eminent superpower during this period the USSR’s power cannot be denied. The Cold War is defined as a battle of ideologies with communism and capitalism battling to become the dominating world view.
