The Club Culture
The club culture-hundreds of thousands of young people across the country, covered in sweat and rhythmically throbbing to a beat- has long been filled with stigmas and stereotypes; the idea that hip-hop music is only for people of African descent, or solely for the "impoverished youth" as Dale Kleinschmidt, an ex-DJ and amateur break dancer from Dallas, puts it, has been a common view associated with the hip-hop scene by the masses. Dale got interested in break dancing because, as he says, "he wanted to look cool." In the beginning, the idea of being able to break dance was funny to him- he had already been involved in the dance scene, but he had never been a b-boy, he just DJed. A lot of Dale's interest in the dance aspect of the clubs came from his DJing experiences.
Dale really started dancing when he met up with a group of Hispanic kids- that he had known from the scene already- and discovered that they had formed a break dancing crew. They decided to take Dale "under their wings." The fact that the Hispanic kids were the ones dancing, and that they were so accepting of Dale- a middle-upper class white kid- says a lot about the falseness of the racial stereotypes involved in the scene.
"& it's a very embracing culture," says Dale, "which a lot of people find surprising, but if you go out there no one's gonna give you crap for trying& "
According to Dale, the only people that the club kids typically dislike are the ones that detach themselves from the scene. "& say you go to a club and just sit in the back corner, or you just try to hit on girls, that's fine, but the break dancers are probably just gonna look down on you& " The thought that a person should interact in any of what Dale calls "the fou...

...petitive nature of the scene-but the fact remains that the break dance circles seem to be filled with masculine face.
Despite the stereotypes I have heard about the hip-hop culture, and the apparently male-dominated scene, after my interview with Dale I would have to dispel those accusations. Of course there will be "purists" as Dale said, and people who believe that they deserve more respect because they have been involved in the scene longer, but in the bigger view, the dance culture seems to be one of the most accepting scenes that exists. If you have a genuine interest in the culture, as in anything, there is no reason that you shouldn't attempt to take part in it. The scene from the beginning was a do-it-yourself scene, and in break dancing there are no rules. Get out there and do what you want- if you honestly respect the scene you should have no problems.
Strictly Ballroom, with a ballroom and romance plot is more difficult to project the male stereotype. However even in this difficulty area, it manages to still capture the following masculine traits – mateship, trivialised larrikinism, physical apperarance, durnkenness, determination to win the ballroom dancing championship using new steps –the macho Spanish pasodoble.
The three groups: the professional players, the blue-collar players, and the teenagers, have forever transformed the atmosphere of the pool hall. While many stereotypes exist concerning what a pool hall is, many are not true. It is not full of "motorcycle people," nor is it a drunken scene as depicted in movies. It is a place of social construct, such as everything in society.
At 9:30, the DJ put on Nelly's "Hot in Herre." Almost all of the 400 students on the dance floor immediately began freak-dancing—and Mr. Bennett walked right over to the DJ. "Stop the music," he said as he took the mic. "Ladies, gentlemen," he announced sternly, "if you continue freak-dancing, there will be no more dances." Some of the students booed Mr Bennett as he
Take the Lead is a great movie, and although it does stereotype the idea that lower class children are not interested in ballroom dance, it does a great job of showing the power or dance, and how dance is more than something people do for fun, but that people and cultures can be brought closer through dance.
Underground hip-hop is filled with groups such as The Pharcyde, The Roots, Jigmastas, and Jurassic 5 who use live instruments to not only enhance their lyrical talents, but also to give audiences a great show. All four of these groups are dedicated to preserving hip-hop culture. Emcees battle to prove they are iller, Djs do the same thing, and breakers, break dancers, poppers, whatever you want to call them, continue the tradition of mixing their dance art form of popping, locking and spinning using the music to help create different techniques.
Mankind tend to look at the male populace and conclude that the significantly poor participation of males is due to individual preferences and the fact that dance is seen as highly feminine or non masculine. What they don’t ask is why participation rates for both the male and female gender is low. It’s rare that society looks beyond what is actually affecting individual choices of the majority of society to not participate in dance. A key point of difference is that dance studios, the common delivery point of most peoples’ formative dance experience, are operating as businesses (with a clear profit motive), rather than the myriad of community based sports clubs, which encourage and cater for participation of a broader range of groups within society. We can study this through the utilisation of sociologist Peter Figueroa’s Framework, which looks at factors, which affect access and equity. The
Breakdancing, a form of dance that combines acrobatics with dance, also came originated in block parties and house parties. B-Boys, as well as B-Girls, would dance to the breaks in the music, hence the name.
Dance halls were growing increasingly popular, on average, most people attended at least once a week. Twenty-five percent of San Francisco youths regularly attended their local halls, according to American Mercury magazine. Admission ranged from fifty cents to dollar and a half (McCutcheon 217). Many times women would supervise so that the proper rules of dancing were overlooked. Proper dance rules were that the p...

Hip hop culture has been around since the 1970s. Multiple sources all come down to the South Bronx in New York City, as the origin of hip hop culture. The culture began to take its shape within the African American, Afro-Caribbean, and Latino communities. The father of the start of this culture was a Jamaican-born DJ named Clive Campbell but also known as DJ Kool Herc. He brought forth a new sound system and the Jamaican style of “toasting.” Toasting was when Jamaicans would talk or rap over the music they played. This whole new style soon brought what is now known as DJs, B-Boys, MC’s, and graffiti artists (Kaminski).
According to Martha Graham, “Dance is the hidden language of the soul.” To me, dancing is more than just a hobby, it is my life. My dance team is also more than just a team, it is my second family. Each girl on my team has her own unique personality, but somehow, we all get along well. We are all such good friends and have had to make it through many difficult situations already, but all it has done was bring us closer together. The girls on my team are all caring, talented, and funny.
The objectives of operation, reporting, and compliance are represented in the column. Components are represented by the rows regarding the ERM. The third dimension is the entity’s organizational structure. It demonstrates clear how and how counteract low risk tolerance and high risk appetite. Risk reduction is obtained by facilitating effective internal control with a broad scope that reflects changes in the framework to risk management with ERM. The framework requires adaptability which enables flexibility due to a overlap of functions of identify, assessing, and responding to risks within operations, reporting, and compliance. The risk management process needs to be flexible. Given that, we operate in the challenging environment, the companies require the meaning for managing risk as well as continuous improvement in identifying new risks that will evolve and make allowances for those risks that are no longer existing.
e risk management process typically includes five steps. These steps are 1) identifying all significant risks, 2) evaluating the potential frequency and severity of losses, 3)developing and selecting methods chosen, 5) monitoring the performance and suitability of the risk management methods and strategies on an ongoing basis.
I will first talk about the Likert Scale. The Likert Scale is a really popular type of questionnaire that’s used in the educational world. It was developed by Rensis Likert, whom was an educator and a psychologist. Ever since the creation of this scale, there have been many different versions based on the number of points in the scale. The Likert Scale can be four-point, five-point, six-point, and so on. The even-numbered scale mostly makes the respondent choose, whereas the odd-numbered scale provides the option for indecision or neutrality. Having indecisiveness or neutrality can make this type of questionnaire less effective in trying to find a definite answer to your research.
