The Civil War of Rome
The Civil War in the eyes of most people is not glorious, but rather one of the worst crimes you could possibly commit when the state is all-important. Only under the most extreme circumstances should one be allowed to (in the eyes of the people that is) begin a Civil War with just cause. Caesar took this into consideration, but too many things were going wrong in Rome for him not to begin the war.
The first of many problems was the collapse of the Triumvirate. The Triumvirate was one of the main parts of the government of Rome, with which there were three leaders, which at the time were Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus. This was never truly working all that great, but held itself together by the marriage of Caesar's daughter Julia, to Pompey, and the friendship Caesar and Crassus shared. But, all this came to an end when Crassus was killed in a battle against a Parthian army. Then, not too long afterwards, Julia was murdered by someone who had broken into her home. This, destroyed the bond between Caesar and Pompey, and made them drift apart. Caesar seeing all this taking place, attempted to restore the bond by proposing to Pompey's only daughter, but was not allowed to by Pompey.
To only make matters worse, Rome was slowly slipping into total anarchy. The government was becoming corrupt with bribery. The elections were being stopped, and there wasn't a consul elected in 53 or 52 B.C. Most authority was lost, the streets became rioted, and unsafe. During this time, Pompey tried to annul the Law of Ten Tribunes without notifying Caesar. If this happen, it would of removed a lot of Caesar's power. Caesar saw what he was trying to do, and stopped it before this action took place, and now knew for sure that Pompey was no longer his ally, but instead an enemy.
Pompey tried another devious act against Caesar, which this time worked. He had the senate pass a law that made Pompey and Caesar both give up troops, and send them to the East, where they were supposedly needed against the Parthians. This seemed fair, but it made Caesar lose two legions, one that was lent to him by Pompey in the Gallic Wars, and one of his own. Once they were positioned there, Pompey decided they were no longer needed, and sent them to Capua (a city in Rome) under his command.

Albert Gallatin Brown, U.S. Senator from Mississippi, speaking with regard to the several filibuster expeditions to Central America: "I want Cuba . . . I want Tamaulipas, Potosi, and one or two other Mexican States; and I want them all for the same reason -- for the planting and spreading of slavery." [Battle Cry of Freedom, p. 106.]

Julius Caesar, and the two men, together with Crassus, formed in 60 bc the coalition commonly called the First Triumvirate. Caesar's daughter Julia was given in marriage to Pompey, and in the following year Caesar had went repair Gaul, and stood there for nine years carried on a career of conquest while Pompey had spent his time at Rome with Julia.
The two largest religions in the world are Islam and Christianity and they have several facts of contact. Both inbred from Judaism an acceptance of one God, the creator of the world and cares about the beliefs and behavior of human beings. In spite of having some points of principle in common, Christianity and Islam have enormous differences, not merely in beliefs regarding salvation, Christ and forgiveness but in several other fields affecting human attitudes, behavior and daily life.
In 1789 James Madison introduced the Bill of Rights-the first ten amendments of the Constitution, to the First Congress. The Bill was heavily influenced by Virginia’s Declaration of Rights and used primarily to protect the citizen’s rights and liberties as well as, as a limitation on the federal government. The “original Constitution contained few guarantees” for civil rights and liberties therefore, the Bill of Rights strengthened them mitigating fears about the new national government (O’Brien 324). Madison and Anti-Federalists hoped to place the same restrictions on states. They found the Bill of Rights practical, explicit, and essential while Federalists found it unnecessary and potentially dangerous. Hamilton seeks justification against the Bill of Rights using the Constitution’s preamble which briefly notes the “liberty” and “prosperity” afforded to the American people (326). He also argues that the Bill may be dangerous because these exceptions being placed on powers have not yet been granted (326). Nonetheless, in September on 1789, Congress proposed 12 amendments to state legislatures which were shortly ratified thereafter in 1791 (326).
The world religions of Islam and Christianity may have their differences to the naked eye, but when you take a closer look into their histories similarities arise. They both went through transformations that had drastic impacts on the way they were controlled and the way that the religion was taught to the followers. Christianity and Islam have both experienced splits between their members due to the fact that followers thought that their beliefs were the correct way to practice the religion. While these transformations are long in the past, the splits that have occurred within each religion continue to have lasting effects on Islam and Christianity to this day.
In every piece of literature Edgar Allan Poe has written, the reader can quickly pick up on his gothic style of writing. In his poem, “The City in the Sea” has not a realistic location but however a setting that quickly promotes a feel of mystery and loneliness. “The City in the Sea” was a revised version of his earlier poem,"The Doomed City", both in which give a feel of death and loneliness.
Ultimately, the Roman Republic’s downfall lay in its lack of major wars or other crises, which led to a void of honor and leadership. War united all of Rome’s people, and provided the challenge to its leaders to develop honor and leadership by their causes and actions. The lack of war allowed the Roman Republic to stagnate and become self-indulgent. By the end of the Punic Wars, which combined these elements, Rome was sure to fail. Without a common thread uniting its society, the Roman Republic unraveled because it had nothing left holding it together.
In 1789 the anti-federalist main concern was that the Constitution’s lack of adequate guarantees for civil liberties. To provide such guarantees, the First Amendment along with the other nine Amendments known as the Bill of Rights were submitted to the states for ratification on September 25, 1789 and adopted on December 15, 1791. This was a guarantee of the essential rights and liberties that were omitted in the original documents.
After a year of concentrating on his writing, Cicero was called back to Rome by Pompey the Great. In 51 B.C. he was assigned to the position of proconsul of the providence of Cilicia. In 50 B.C. Cicero returned to Rome to help Pompey with his fight against Caesar, but after Pompey's defeat Cicero became a supporter of Caesar. After Caesar's assassination Cicero went back into politics and became a supporter of Octavian. On December 7, 43 B.C., Cicero was executed by Marc Antony as an enemy of the state.
Caesar could have easily volunteered to die, taking the easy way out. However, he endured the pain with patience. Because Caesar was patient, he was rewarded with great outcomes. In 59 BC, he continued his close alliance with Pompey, resulting in being elected as consul. Caesar slowly rose to power and built his military to defeat Pompey, his former ally. In 49 BC, he went to war with Pompey. Unfortunately, Pompey’s army was not near as large and powerful as Caesar’s, resulting in his death. Returning to Rome, Caesar was granted a dictator for life and the opportunity to reform Rome (“Julius Caesar Biography”). If Caesar were to volunteer to die after the death of his wife or father, he would have never been rewarded with the gift of being dictator of
Comparison of Islam to Christianity and Judaism Islam has long been viewed by many in America as a fringe religion. When many Americans here the term Islam or Muslim they associate it with such groups as the Nation of Islam or the Black Muslims. However these groups and others like them often have very little in common with the true Islamic faith. They use the term Islam to generate support for their causes, but in so doing they often destroy the public’s view of the main Islamic faith. The People of the Book is an honorary title given to the Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths. All three religions believe in one God and in his word, delivered through the prophets: Moses received the word of God in the Torah, Jesus and the Gospels and Muhammad and the Quran. The three religions also share a similar belief in prophethood; many Christians are stunned to hear that many Biblical prophets are also considered Islamic prophets. The Quran says in (2:136) Say we believe in God, and the revelation given to us, and the revelation given to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob and the tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to the prophets from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another of them, and to Him we are submitters. Islam does have many differences from the other two religions but it does preach a message of tolerance. Mohammad said, “Whoever hurts a person from the people of the book it will be as though he hurt me personally.” Islam is closer to Christianity and Judaism then they are to each other since it recognizes both as divine religions where Christians have already seen their Messiah and the Jewish people are still awaiting his appearance.(Islam ...
Such a large scale event caught my attention. Despite the financial crisis, Oktoberfest is not affected. The number of participants increases from year to year, becoming more and more international. For a better understanding of the organization, positivism theories will lead to the normative result. Further, the theoretical analysis of Oktoberfest, Munich has been chosen in concordance with the topic: “Challenges facing mangers in 2015” .The event has been proved being successful and economically stable . Even so, managers must take into account the changes that will come to influence the business and maybe reconsider the conditions.
Unequivocally both sects differ in many significant fragments of their doctrines. Islam’s founder and leader is the prophet Muhammad, meanwhile in Christianity, Jesus is their founder and leader. Christians also refer to individuals such as Peter, and Paul as Disciples, which translates to: follower of Jesus. Christians believe Jesus is the Son of God and the savior of the world. Christianity places Jesus on a higher pedestal than Islam. The Nature of God and Jesus’s death are other debated matters where in Christianity, God is composed of three people; the Son, the Father and the Holy Spirit and are certain that Jesus was crucified. In Islam these accounts of Jesus are blatantly denied in the Qur’an. The Qur’an is the sacred text in Islam and states, “The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary was but a messenger of Allah and his word, which he directed to Mary, created a command from him. So believe in Allah and his messengers. And do not say, three. Indeed, Allah is but one God”(The Qur’an 4:171). Therefore, Muslim’s believe that God is only one person and that Jesus was just his messenger.
