It is known that town shopping centres and edge-of-town retail parks provide customers with greater range of goods and is a competition to high streets. As Colin J. Davis (1997: 6 - 7) claims high streets can succeed if they provide with appealing environment, great facilities and outstanding design quality. !

First of all, to understand and solve the problem it is important to realise what has caused it.
Nowadays a car is a basic need therefore people can easily access retail parks that are located outside of city centres. It allows to grow the shopping mall trend what is serious competitor to high streets. Retail parks and shopping malls are optimised and they offer shops, cinemas, restaurants, banks, beauty services and gyms in one place what makes them unique and appealing to customers (The Grimsey Review, 2013: 8). 'The Grimsey Review’ (2013) states that cities, towns, villages, parades, shopping centres, retail parks, shopping parks and leisure parks compete for consumers. In multi-channel shopping world online shopping is a new trend that increases its market shares every year (The Grimsey Review, 2013: 8). Davis (1997: 70) says that festivals are also important for city centres in order to attract citizens and tourists who will eventually use other town attractions.!
