Michael probably saw a very ugly person when it looked himself in the mirror. He underwent more than 30 plastic surgeries through out his lifetime. It was clear that the king of pop had issues with his appearances that were beyond his control. Anybody in their right mind wouldn’t put themselves through all this pain. His physical flaws became debilitating to him and consume his life and that’s a behavior that usually people with body dysmorphic disorder experience. No matter how much people tell them how beautiful they are, they still see themselves as ugly or not attractive . Body dysmorphic disorder can be compare to obsessive compulsive disorder (ocd) and eating disorder because even though they are different diseases they cause a lot of anxiety to the individuals resulting in routines and compulsives behaviors. The rest of us can have an imperfection and not obsess about it but a person dealing with body dysmorphic disorder can not help themselves, they can not shake out the idea and the thoughts about what is wrong with them . I would watch his movie repeatedly. My sisters and me would try to follow his dance moves but we were always unsuccessful it was a great memory growing up. I loved the part when he turns himself into a bunny as a little girl I thought that was awesome. I would think I had magic And, I remember telling my mom “I wanted to be like Michael Jackson because he has powers” my mother would just laugh. One of his quotes from his lyrics that is powerful to me is “If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, then make that change,” this

In this time period, he was diagnosed with having a rare skin pigment disease called Vitiligo which turned his skin brighter. The media claimed that he bleached his skin color, also claimed that he was sleeping in an oxygen chamber. As a child Michael Jackson was intrigued by Brown’s flamboyant performances on stage and would soon begin to implement them into his own stage acts. By the age of five Michael Jackson was already sealed into a world of show business by his father, Joseph Jackson. Deprived of a childhood at a very young age, Michael and his siblings began a family-musical group called “The Jackson 5.” They began playing the soul hits they listened to on the radio all across the country. The band toured the Midwest extensively from 1966 to 1968, frequently performing at clubs and bars. In 1966, they won a major local talent show with renditions of Motown hits and a cover of “I Feel Good (I Got You)” by James Brown. It wasn’t until July 23, 1968 where they received major recognition by Motown owner, Berry Gordy. Gordy was reluctant to sign the “Jackson 5” but after their audition performance of the song “I Got the Feelin”, by James Brown, he changed his mind. In March 1969, “The Jackson 5”, were officially signed into Motown records. This marked a historical point in Michael Jackson’s life where his musical influences from James Brown would be noticed. Outlier. An outlier is someone who is not considered to be a normal person within society. They have qualities that most people do not obtain. They are the most successful of individuals and many aspire to be them. Michael Jackson is the epitome of what I believe is a true outlier. In his best-selling novel, Malcolm Gladwell stated that we tend to spend more time looking at individuals success rather than looking at things that ultimately contributed to that success, such as their family, birthplace, and even birth date.
Michael Jackson and His Impact on Pop Music Introduction: There have always been pioneers in every field one can think of, no matter what. These people had a great mentality and also a taste for innovation and creativity, so they happened to have a great influence on what they were doing. This is why now they are called ‘pioneers’. Music-wise, no one can ignore the impact of Michael Jackson’s music on the mainstream music in totality and particularly on the pop culture.
