Everyone has different things that cause stress for them. It is an effect of day to day life and some have more than others. How does stress affect your life? Depending on your stress, rather it be acute stress, episodic stress, or chronic stress. Acute stress comes from recent happening and events that have happened recently, or are soon expected. According to “The Stress Solution” by Lyle H. Miller, PhD, and Alma Dell Smith, PhD, “acute stress causes: emotional distress, muscular problems, sickness of stomach, rapid heartbeat, and/or sweaty palms.” This kind of stress can build up on anyone and dealt with easily. Episodic acute stress is very similar to acute stress, it is generally people who have too much on their plate and
do not allow their self enough downtime. It can also be caused by worrying about things too much or often. Episodic acute stress can cause a sudden sudden burst of anger, making it very easy for them to lash out at people for little reason. It has the same effects as acute stress but more severe. Chronic stress is a long term stress, wearing on you day after day, month after month, and year after year. It destroys minds, bodies and lives. it (spacing and capitalization) is caused by people never recovering from tragedy, and often grows from childhood issues that they cling to through life. Stress is on (spelling) of the unavoidable factors of life, and everyone has to deal with it. It isn’t always bad, unless there is lots of it for extended periods of time. For short periods it can even be exhilarating, but either way if it is for short periods it doesn’t have time to have serious effects. Long term can be problematic and may require outside help. Everyone deals with stress and is burdened by it, so make someone else’s day less stressing and maybe you will have the same kindness reflected back to you.
Life events can play a big part in causing stress. They don't have to be big negative events such as getting a divorce or a spouse dying but also normally good events such as holidays or getting married can also be stressful.
Stress has various effects on the body, both psychological and physiological. Stress can have positive effects on the body and can be beneficial, but frequent stress will eventually cause negative effects on the body.
Stress means different things to different people and stress effects people in different ways. Some people think stress is something that happens to them such as an injury or a promotion and others think that stress is what happens to our mind, body and behaviors in response to an event. While stress does involve events and how one responds to them these are not the critical factors, but our thoughts about the situation in which we are involved are the critical factors. Essentially, stress exists whenever homeostasis is disturbed or cannot be maintained (Stress and the Social System Course Guide, 2013). Homeostasis refers to the body's ability to keep the internal chemical and physical environments constant. As your body begins to react to stress several changes occur. These changes include increased heart rate, blood pressure and secretion of stimulatory hormones. Ones body prepares itself in stressful situations to either stand ground and fight or to flee from the situation. Walter Cannon called this stressful reaction the fight-or-flight response (Greenberg, 2012).
Stress can affect anyone at anytime and anyplace. What’s important to know is that stress can actually be good for you. It is only when stress reaches unimaginable levels that it hinders your progress and makes you feel frustrated and sad. When confronted with a stressful situation the human body retreats to its survival mode, known as the “fight or flight response”. It causes the release of steroids and adrenaline from various glands in the body. These hormones send our respiratory, cardio-vascular, abdominal, endocrine and nervous systems into overdrive.

Some people may say that they succeed more under stress, but sadly, that’s rarely the case. For most people, stress is extremely normal for them that they don 't see it as anything but ordinary. There are so many different things to cause stress. There are some obviously main ones that happen to people more often. They are lumped into two different groups like personal problems and social and job issues. For the personal problems people may have your health to stress someone out, which is not good because stress makes sickness worse. People could also have to deal with relationship problems, Major life changes, stress in the family, or conflicts with your beliefs and values. Now with the other side people could have social and job issues. They could have things such as their surroundings, social situations, unemployment, job. In my life I deal with stress one way or another every counting day, but I’ve developed coping strategies to lessen my stress levels. The main strategy that I employ that I find to be the most beneficial is time management, scheduling, and making sure I can do things I enjoy. Being able to stay on top of what needed to get done and setting priorities enabled me to do everything I needed, from homework, to practice and everything in between, and I could still manage to find time everyday to make moments for myself.

If not coped with properly, these stressors can leave a person with too much stress that could end up harming them mentally and physically, such as developing an illness (Boyd, Wood, & Wood, 2011). There are several ways to cope with stress. Some healthy ways to cope with stress would be practicing emotion-focused coping, building time-management techniques, and practicing meditation.
Modern life is full of troubles, frustrations and deadlines. People have to suffer stressful from many directions and they seem to be consent to live with stress. Many people think that they can stand with stressful and it is harmless, but it is not. If people live in stress during a long period of time, it has bad effect to health and spirit. Where does stress come from? Most scientists agree that stress is the result of a situation where too many problems or difficulties take place at the same time. For the person who lives in such circumstances, it becomes impossible to manage and to find any solutions for his or her difficulties. As a result this person feels oppressed by the situation and becomes stressed. Of course, everybody reacts in a different way in the face of unfortunate events, and for many people it is easy to manage stress, which is the normal reaction, without any damage to the body.
Stress is an ongoing dilemma that occurs in each and everyone’s life. It is a factor that is undoubtedly a part of daily living. Due to the trivial problems that occur in people’s daily lives massive amounts of stress can arise. People perceive and manage stress in many different ways. The causes and effects of stress are numerous and one’s ability to manage stress is vital in maintaining healthy living.
