The Career of a Stockbroker The career I wish to pursue is that of a stockbroker. I am extremely interested in the trading of stocks and financial holdings so the career of a stockbroker just seems to fit in with my overall plan. Numbers have also always been a fascination of mine and the trends of the economy and long term financial outlooks have often interested me greatly. Stock broking is a risky business that one needs to be prepared for highs and lows if choosing to pursue. You must understand what a stockbroker truly does to even begin to follow this as a life long career.
Have you ever been in a position where you where stuck and couldn’t decide between two careers? Whether it was something that you love to do or something that pays well? The answer may seem easy to you but when you start comparing the facts; that’s when it gets hard to choose. For many of us, graduates and people around the world have a difficult time choosing a career that can be a confusing process. A lot of people tend to settle down on a career quickly. Unfortunately, choosing a rapid occupation often leads to an unsatisfying path in the future, if not sooner. Eventually the individual decides to quit and start all over again. According to choosingacareer.net, “6% of workers over the age 50 are in the process of changing a career, resumes mailed to companies’ staffing departments only accounts for 3% of hires nationwide, and 95% of human resources managers and 95% of job seekers depend on personal contacts and networking to fill and find openings.” (choosingacareer.net) Choosing a career takes time and research, so it’s better to plan your future than rapidly pick one. Although some people claim they are happy with the career they chose of the bat, choosing a career carefully is much more effective because in the long run you will feel content and appreciate more with the choice you made.
The following career I have chosen describes who I am, where I want to go, and what I want to accomplish in the near future.
After brainstorming and finishing Bolles’ questions, I discovered that my ideal career would be in a small organization, where the coworkers collaborate closely; it would be in a city with a sizeable population of people my age, where craft products and small businesses flourish. Likewise, the organization would be focused on providing a service that gives back to those in the community, hopefully combatting the cycle of poverty. In the organization, I would like to be coordinating people or events, and doing other behind-the-scenes duties that keep the whole place running.
My God there are so many careers out there, who in the world can pick just one. That’s what’s been weighing on my mind heavily is what career is right for me. I’ve thought of a couple that interest me but I want to find out everything there is to know about a financial advisor. The reason that I’m interested in this field is how everything is the same when it comes to the actually math behind the career. Also I like to deal with people and money so a job as a financial advisor just seems right for me but I intend to find out as much as I can to make sure there’s nothing surprising or any kinks in what sounds like the perfect job for me.
For a career, I would like to be involved in the fast developing computer industry and more particularly with the Internet. I think it has immense potential and I would like to be able to develop the Internet to make it help the lives of day to day people. In this way I would also like to help make computers more like humans with for example voice operated user interfaces.
...y interests because it involves counselling and guiding others. A financial advisor is an individual who helps their clients budget their assets. Since I am going into finance, I will have extensive knowledge and experience in budgeting and managing money. Another alternative is corporate law. This field of study also falls into enterprising occupations. Not only will I be able to guide and help others, this field is systematic in many ways, and I enjoy that. There are many careers that I am interested in exploring. However, after completing my research on market analysts, I have come to a conclusion that you cannot fully understand how a career truly is unless you pursued it at some point in your life. The reason being is that everyone has different perceptions of what their ideal career is and blindly listening to their opinions can lead to missed opportunities.

Money is a very important aspect of today's economy. When I grow up I want to help people/companies manage their money wisely. That career is called Financial Advisory. “ We are called in to advise clients on managing business controversy and disputes, executing deals, and maintaining regulatory compliance.” (http://www2.deloitte.com/us/en/pages/careers/articles/join-deloitte-advisory.html) Financial advisory combines my two favorite things math and people.
My career choice for the future is dog grooming. This career choice interests me because I want a career to do with animals and grooming is an interesting and a seemingly fun career. Although I could do a grooming career with both dogs and cats, I would want to focus more on grooming dogs than cats. With grooming as a career or job you may want to research it to make sure it’s the right fit, as with any long term career. Knowing about a career before you pursue it can help you know if it’s something you want to do in the long run.
The three careers in finance that I have an interest in applying are Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Financial Advisor, and Financial Analyst.
Entering the world of entrepreneurship opens up a world of opportunities for businessmen. One of these people is Warren Buffett, who through investments and partnerships has become one of the richest men and one of the most inspirational people on this planet. His investments, philosophy and philanthropic work have made him a leader and an admirable person in the business world.
Coming to the point of my current career choice has been a long road. My idea of what a career is or should be has changed with circumstances and age. According to Weintraub (2005), “the average worker spends only four years in a job and will have 12 jobs in as many as five career fields during his or her working life.” (para. 1) My first career was marriage and motherhood followed by a surprising healthcare career. What the future holds waits to be seen. With a bachelor of science degree in information technology the options are wide open.

My ideal career would allow me to do something that interests me. I enjoy working with words and with numbers. I've also had success in the areas of technology and customer service.
Business has been a large part of my family, and has started to grow on me. My dad worked in sales for many years, and is now the President of a company in Staples. My mom started her own cleaning business, and now works for herself, as well as my uncle owns a golf course, and a pump and well business. My other uncle has his own handy man business, while one of my aunts operates a redimix and construction company . So I guess it could be said, business is kind of in by blood.
