Everyone on Earth is dealt different hands. Some have been gifted with wealth; others are born into a world of very little. Lucky children have been welcomed into a loving family; others are merely one of several children, of whom only half will reach adulthood. Finally, a few are destined to be brilliant, while the rest are not as clever. When it comes to education and levels of intelligence, however, who really has been gifted? “Intelligence in childhood is a risk factor for psychological distress due to anxiety and the milder forms of depression in young adults” (Stumm). Those with higher intelligence, maybe, suffer from more mental illnesses and ailments. Throughout time, there have been numerous examples of gifted individuals who have suffered in life due to their deeper comprehension of the universe. It seems that though people, like Solomon and Stephen Hawking, have been gifted with great wisdom and intelligence, they have been burdened in other ways because of it.
Individuals who are highly intelligent have shown tendencies to be night owls. According to one source, it asks the reader to “consider that intelligent people are infamous for burning the midnight oil to cram for tests, write papers, touch up those earnings reports” (Rodriguez). The source also mentions that it is most likely that the more intelligent stay up later to avoid the distractions of day-dwellers, that is, they stay up later to concentrate. Staying up late on a regular basis, however, is extremely detrimental to the health. ...est high school students in America” (Gladwell 82). It was shocking to learn that all the Nobel Prize in Medicine winners did not all come from the most prestigious schools. Also, in the third chapter I notices some aspects that were highly relatable to me. My life relates to subjects included in chapter three because I am a student. It is interesting and helpful to learn that one does not need the highest IQ to succeed in today’s world. This is how I relate to chapter three. The third chapter in Outlier by Malcolm Gladwell had striking information that stated that IQs do not always determine who will be successful, and I can relate to the information in the chapter because I am student who has thought about my IQ before.

Nobody can be considered as inferior or silly. The world has been going through some critical periods when people could not make it to school. We all know that the basic way to develop one 's intelligence is to go to school and to enhance one 's intellectual skills. School is the best establishment that promotes learning. There, people can interact and exchange their ideas which helps them to know how to live with others in the society. There we develop our initial intelligence, the one we are born with, and we have to develop until death. Being directly related to our parents, by inheritance and more affected by the environment we are raised in, that intelligence is more likely to be different depending on the circumstances. However, our abilities are not affected by that. As intelligence quotient scores are universally evaluated, the basis of those results are the same for everybody, whatever could be their origins. As a matter of fact, we do not all focus our intelligence in one universal domain, we all apply it in different domains. Some people can be intelligent in catching fish whereas others in doing mathematics. It is all about the importance attached to our needs. The expert fish catcher may be living in a place where catching fish is the only way to survive from hunger while the mathematician can be living in a place where doing mathematics is very important to get a job
Although genius is a word that is completely different from intelligence, people often confuse genius with intelligence, because genius is a word that is related to intelligence. Genius is an “extreme degree of creative or other ability, usually demonstrated by exceptional achievements” (APA Dictionary of Psychology: Genius), therefore genius is unable to be used as a proper tool in defining intelligence.
