The British Were Selfish to Impose the Stamp Act on the American Colonists

The British Government is selfish, and tyrannical for imposing the Stamp Act on American Colonists. I feel that they are selfish and tyrannical because they never let anyone have a voice of ideas, advice, or have rights. Everything was under their control; so it was going to be their way. They quoted,” With the money we make from taxes, we can pay off all of our war debt.” I also believe that the American Colonists was right for rebelling against the Stamp Act because they believed that if we didn’t have to pay for taxes before, why should we have to now?

The Stamp Act was released to the colonists by the British Government in November of 1765; which was the day that all paper goods such as magazines, newspaper, and even playing card had to either have a British seal or stamp that was payed for. They stated, “If I can’t afford to feed my family how can I afford to pay an extra tax?” The colonists were brave to fight back against the British Government by developing the Stamp Act Congress. The Stamp Act Congress was to send a strong message of opposition to the British Government; the colonists put together a meeting to discuss the conflicts that they were having under the British Government control and what they were going to do about it. It’s an obstacle that you have to get through in order to live. Even though the colonists weren’t as powerful as the British, they had respect for one another and the British Government didn’t have that same kind of decency like the Americans. I believe that’s why British were always selfish because they didn’t need nor had a right to be respectful and it was something that they never did (only with their peers). Everyone had their separate lives to live and that’s how they lived it. So, you may as well ask what happened to the British Government? It will be discovered probably in the 2000 era when we’re all dead and cremated.
