People always say that the book is better than the movie, and though they think they might be right, this isn't always the case. People like having the background knowledge of why a character is doing something in a specific case or why the events are happening and seeing the movie cut out all this extra information may upset them, but that doesn't mean that the book is better. It just means they're more informed reading the book. What is a bad movie? Not having enough information or just not being entertained. I happened to watch the movie before I read the book and I thought it was amazing, but after I read the book the movie just didn't compare to the book. Sure they had the same storyline but I was just more entertained reading the book. That doesn't mean that the movie suddenly wasn't as amazing, because it certainly was, it just means that the two different forms of art have their own unique way of being good. The Hunger Games, a story of 24 kids chosen at random to compete in a Game where they must fight to the death, can be told in different ways. Whereas the book is written in Katniss’ point of view, we get more in depth detail of Katniss’ thought process and characterization, in the film we lose the sense of what makes Katniss a hero, since it focuses more in the technological point of view and how it is used to control the citizens.
The book The Hunger Games by Susan Collins is written in the point of view of Katniss, the female tribute from district 12. We can read all her thoughts and it makes the book more personal because we are able to see what makes her so unique through understanding all her thoughts and thought process. In the book we can see that she uses her critical thinking to interpret all her situations...

...tain the viewers, Also near the end of the games, to speed things along, they create animals to draw the finals contestants together. The film focuses on how good the effects are and how real they look and how they were created to make a scene that makes the viewer fill with adrenaline to keep them entertained.
In conclusion, even though these two stories are the same, by telling them in different ways completely changed the meaning of the story. Whereas the book tells a story on Katniss and her struggles and using her skills to overcome her competition and win the Games, the film uses the Games as a spectacle to entertain its viewers. That doesn’t mean that one is better than the other, it just means that they are both great stories but in there own different ways. Art can be expressed and interpreted different ways. It all depends on you and which you prefer.
book was blander. The book did not catch my attention as much. The movie really caught my
In conclusion, details involving the characters and symbolic meanings to objects are the factors that make the novel better than the movie. Leaving out aspects of the novel limits the viewer’s appreciation for the story. One may favor the film over the novel or vice versa, but that person will not overlook the intense work that went into the making of both. The film and novel have their similarities and differences, but both effectively communicate their meaning to the public.
Overall, the movie and book have many differences and similarities, some more important than others. The story still is clear without many scenes from the book, but the movie would have more thought in it.
The Hunger Games was a good movie when it came out. This movie refers to a dystopia world in which there are 12 districts and a capitol who rules with an iron fist, in which the districts must provide a tribute to fight in an annual Hunger Game as a punishment for a past rebellion. Katniss Everdeen is a hunter from the 12th district, which Gale, her friend gives her tips on hunting. One day her sister, Primrose Everdeen, is chosen for the Hunger Games, and in order to save her, she volunteers instead to serve in the Games along with Peeta Mellark. During a TV interview, Peeta confesses her love for Katniss Everdeen, which causes the enragement of the latter; however, she later forgives him as he explains to her that it was only to gain sponsors. During the Hunger Games, she did not receive a lot of supplies except some medicine to cure a wound, but Districts 1 and 2 almost won the Game due to their training, and amount of supplies which Katniss destroys but cannot recover any of them. The Hunger Games was one of the best movies I ever watched because it has a little bit of everything and it captures the real-life survival game that we live on a daily basis.
There’s always been the argument of “Which is better?” when it comes to book versus movie. In the case of To Kill A Mockingbird, in my opinion, the movie lacks certain details needed to really see some of the themes Harper Lee is trying to get across. The movie leaves out some important characters. It also leaves out many certain events that are significant to the character development of Scout and Jem. These things, I believe are crucial to the story and message of To Kill A
... because I like books that have action, adventure, and a good story. The part of this book that makes it my favorite is mostly because I like books that end the series since I hate cliffhangers at the end of the series because you never now what is going to happen because that is the last book. Another part of this book that makes it my favorite is that there are lots of sub stories that make it more interesting to read. The largest sub story in the book is wether Peeta will even like Katniss or hate her the rest of his life since he was brainwashed by the Capitol using poison. This book would make a great movie if they won’t add or subtract something from the story like they have done with so many other books that have turned into movies. If they keep it the way it is it will make a great movie because the plot fits into what people like these days which is action.
Which is better, the ‘Classic’ or the ‘Modern’ novel? After reading the classic novel, ‘Lord of the flies’ and the Modern novel, The Hunger Games, it is clear that the classic novel won the battle between old and new. Lord of the Flies, written by William Goulding is a novel about a young group of school boys who’s plane was shot down over a deserted island and they must try to survive. The boys are free from the rules of society and the instinct to work toward civilisation and order slowly defends into savagery, violence and chaos. The Novel, The Hunger Games by Susanne Collins is an action packed story of Katniss Everdeen who is forced to take police in the violent Hunger Games. Katniss must endure many deadly situations, learn to control how she is perceived and manage complex relationships in order to survive in the games. The major theme of innocence and the main characters of these novels where compared in order to justify which novel was better.
This article compares Katniss to Harry Potter and Bella Swan. It says the Hunger Games has a rougher plot than the Harry Potter series. The article asked “You can't help but think, if I were in that situation,...
It’s inevitable that there were countless similarities between The Hunger Games book and the movie, as the movie was based off the book. However, there were plenty of major differences that stood out in the movie in comparison to the book. In particular Peeta’s leg situation, the way characters died and lastly, how Katniss received various gifts. These changes were made in the movie, each with a specific purpose.
Katniss is the main character in the novel, The Hunger Games. The author of this book is Suzanna Collins. Katniss is a 16 year old who has been chosen with 23 other tributes. In my class we have studied themes and key ideas such as Power of the Capitol, Competition against other tributes and Sacrifice for what Katniss acts and does in the Hunger Games. There are many themes but I have chosen these 3 because they show the most emotions and power.
It has often been said that there is nothing new under the sun. In this vein, authors across all literary genres often borrow themes and plot from the stories of long ago. Many of those authors choose to borrow from the rich mythology of the ancient Greeks. Suzanne Collins has been asked on numerous occasions where the idea for The Hunger Games originated. She readily admits that the characters and plot come from Greek mythology and more specifically, from Theseus and the Minotaur (Margolis 30). One familiar with both both stories can easily recognize the identical framework upon which each of these stories are built. Both Theseus and Katniss Everdeen, Collins’ heroine, volunteer to go into battle for their respective homelands, they both fight beasts of strange origin, and they are both brave in battle and emerge victorious, but it is the uniqueness of the characters that makes each story appropriate for the time period and audience to which it belongs. Collins modernizes the classic hero of Theseus by changing his gender, his motivations and altering his selfish personality, and by doing these things she creates a heroine that better resonates with today's audience of young adults.
From a structural perspective, movies and novels appear as polar opposites. A film uses actors, scripts, and a set in order to create a visual that can grab and keep the attention of their viewers. However, an author strives to incorporate deeper meaning into their books. Despite these differences in media, 1984 and The Hunger Games present unique, yet similar ideas.
The Hunger Games was an action packed romance novel that had just enough of each in every sentence. The Hunger Games was written by Suzanne Collins, New York Times best selling book author. The Hunger Games’s main character, Katniss Everdeen, had many obstacles to get through including finding out her love for a boy, Peeta Mellark. Katniss has to find a way to balance keeping her family alive and keeping herself alive. The main things focused on in the novel are action, romance, and how the two things fit together.
Susan Shau Ming Tan’s essay of the Suzanne Collins’s Hunger Games trilogy titled “Burn with Us” is a psychological analysis of the dystopian novels. She analyzes the dominating characteristics of the capital and how through the Hunger Games they are able to silence the population by destroying the innocence of childhood. She also points out some of the defining characteristics of Katniss Everdeen, considered one of the strongest written female protagonists, and shows how she is able to use the oppressive nature of the hunger games to unite the country into rebellion against the capital. This powerful piece of analysis points out some of the more disturbing points in the world of Panem and enlightens the motivations of Katniss as she struggles to be the girl on fire and the girl who just wants to
Both of them risked their lives for loved ones. They also had basically wars in the games it is Capitol vs Districts and in Romeo and Juliet it is Montague - Capulet feud. They both are star - crossed lovers. In both books and movies there were many deaths. I didn’t really see any comparison between The Hunger Games and Romeo and Juliet before but then I found many things that are similar. The things I would change would be that there was a lot of deaths so I would shorten the amount of deaths. I felt that Peeta has done a lot of things for Katniss so she should repay Peeta of the kind deeds he has done. I didn’t really like how he joined hands with the Careers even though he was saving Katniss he should have thought of something else to protect Katniss. Even though I want Katniss and Peeta to survive and win the game I think it was unfair that only on district can win. I thought that if it was 2 different people it would have been fair to the people who was fighting on their own since their partner already died. The book would have been better if Peeta told Katniss how he felt the moment he realized he loved
