No other man could bare this freezing cold. He stood there, alone on the mountain top, looking down upon the world. He reached out his hand to see if he could grab it, and realized that he could; however, he lowered his hand instead. Such beauty couldn’t possibly belong to anyone, even if they wanted it to. Bert knew this all too well; but this man on the summit was not Bert. He couldn’t understand why he did not dare grab it. In a town not far from that mountain, a child was roaming the streets. Laughing as he went. His pockets were filled with potatoes and various vegetables. That boy sure liked his veggies. An angry man was chasing him. Perhaps he liked veggies too. “Get back here you runt!” he shouted at the boy. But the boy …show more content…
Birds, cows, horses, boars and other creatures were running wild in the forest. He tried to tame a boar by petting it’s tusks. The boar charged at him instead, but Kiden saw it as affection. Bruised and bloody, Kiden returned to the shack. On his way there, he looked up at the stars. He reached out a hand to grab one, but it was out of reach. Shiny, he thought, and thought nothing else of it. He opened his door and shouted “I’m home!” but still, only silence greeted him back. Or rather, that’s what he thought would happen. A snore greeted him. Kiden followed the sound to the kitchen. A man, dressed in black, tattered robes was sleeping in a chair with his feet on the table. His snoring was louder than Kiden’s thoughts. As Kiden approached, he noticed something large in the man’s lap. Something covered in the same kind of tattered cloth. Kiden gently pulled the cloth away. It was a scythe. Purple, sparking with energy. It almost looked alive. The man was still snoring heavily. Suspicious of this man, who strangely reminded of a grim reaper, and had broken into his home, Kiden grabbed his trusty sword. Sweating, with a heavy heart-beat, he charged at the sleeping man. He swung his sword to cleave his face. An inch away, and his sword was caught by one hand. Behind the hand covered by a blue glove, was two wide open red eyes staring directly at Kiden. Burning with fury and ambition. The atmosphere changed in the room. …show more content…
Bert opened every drawer in Kiden’s kitchen, searching for earth beans. At last, he found some canned beans. He sat down again and leaned back with his feet on the table. He threw the can into his mouth and devoured it. “Wow. Rich in iron, isn’t it?” Bert said, while crunching. “Anyway, Kiden, will you come with me? There’s much to see.” “Uh… sure, or, I mean...” Kiden tried to collect his thoughts. Everything started to shake. The room expanded and started warping. Everything went black with a red tint. Kiden closed his eyes until it stopped shaking. As he opened them, he looked around. Bert stood beside him, talking to a woman on a white throne. She was dressed in an Egyptian white dress. Her look and aura was that of a goddess. “Good day to you, The Divine.” Bert said to her. “Why have you brought this mortal to my domain, Prime Two? Weren’t you supposed to bring a new Devdas?” “Yeah, that’s the one.” Bert answered, pointing at Kiden. “Enough with your jokes, Prime Two. You’re a Born; act like it.” Bert lowered his hood, revealing his face. Silver hair covered his right eye. His left eye was shining of red. It looked as if both of their faces were sculpted by
“The wolf did with the lambkin dwell in peace. His grim carnivorous nature there did cease. The leopard with the harmless kid laid down. And not one savage beast was seen to frown.
He said there was lettuce growing in one of them, / and they hadn’t eaten all day.” (3-6). The father was just a teenage boy when this happened to him. He was obviously not living the life of a boy who was a part of a happy family. He was hungry because he hadn’t eaten all day, because he had no one to feed him, so they decided to take a shortcut through a lettuce field.
She could see then that he wasn't a child, he was much more established -thirty, possibly more. At this information her heart started to pound
One night he sprang from sleep with a start, eager-eyed, nostrils quivering and scenting, his mane bristling in recurrent waves. From the forest came the call(or one note of it, for the call was many noted), distinct and definite as never before—a long-drawn howl, like, yet unlike, any noise made by husky dog. And he knew it, in the old familiar way, as for as sound heard before. He sprang through the sleeping camp and in swift silence dashed through the woods. As he drew closer to the cry
Of Mice & Men Alternate Ending George aimed the gun and steadied it, and he brought the muzzle of the gun close to the back of Lennies head. The hand shook violently, but his face set and his hand steadied, Georges heart was pounding, Lennie was still looking across the river trying to picture his rabbits as he was told to do. George suddenly jerked his hand away as Lennie spoke. "Don stop now George, tell, tell about the rabbits and the fatta the lan" But George didn't answer, instead he raised the Luger and pulled the trigger the barrel turned creating a soft click which echoed in the small clearing. "George I dun a bad thing" "I know Lennie
The window slowly creaked open, a soft wind blew into the small room. The sound of light breathing came from under the sheets were a young boy slept, oblivious to the happenings that night. Soft footsteps hit the floor, the smell of old toys and new bed sheets wafted out of the room, hitting two men crouched down by the bed. A hand reached up, gingerly touching the boy.
...noticed compassion and caring within the pack, the need for community and the recognition of the other beings feelings. She did not want the people to see the beasts as that; she wanted them to see the kindness and wonderfulness.
Untouched and unhindered, he continued on a path, not yet discovered, towards the unknowing Prince Prospero. Although he had a slow pace, he made an unexplainable distance in a small amount of time. Some masqueraded man from the retreating group grew enraged and curious of this mysterious man. He ran up to the figure and placed a hand on his mask with the intent to tear it off of the ghostly man. The moment he laid his hand upon the mask, he screamed in agony and pain. Then, unable to pull his hand or the mask free, his fate was sealed. His scream withered away along with his final breath, as he turned old and crumpled onto the lustrous floor in a pile of black ash. Silence and absolute stillness filled the room before a wine glass, half full of a red drink, descended from the whitley g...
“The room was silent. His heart pounded the way it had on their first night together, the way it still did when he woke at a noise in the darkness and waited to hear it again - the sound of someone moving through the house, a stranger.”(4)
For example, as the man and the boy are walking along the road, they pass by an old man that is in desperate need of food:
Gregory heard someone giggle. He banged on the flat of his hand on the door “Let me in. Gregory. Let me in” There was nothing but silence… He waited and called again, but there was no response so he wondered away. He couldn’t demand to be let in and pleading would do no good.
He lay down [in his cot], and for a while I heard his cot trembling.” (64). His various fears slowly piece together a picture of a growing young man who cares for those close to him
They're both playing outside smelling the fresh grass, and it becomes dark, so Can and Ale rush home. Ale gets home and has meat wrapped in chicken, but Can has something very different. He comes home to his parents waiting, so he sits down. They say they’re going to try something different, and it’s very different. They go to the kitchen and brings Can… veggies!
