The Black Market is defined as people who engage in illicit trade. Smuggling of Nuclear weapons plays a role in this. The Russians, U.S., and other countries are involved. Russia has been one the move since the Cold War ended. The Russians position threat to many lives with nuclear sales. Many Russian affiliations and events are to blame including Russian Mafia, military intelligence, Trading Air, collapse in economy, and disgruntled Nuclear employees.
Russian Crime organizations have grown to a high number since the end of the Cold War. The Nuclear Black market is no stranger to the Russian Mafia. Russia may be poised to sell nuclear weapons to the highest bidder as organized crime expands its influence in Russian society (Phinney). Some of the 200 Russian organized crime groups now operate worldwide, including in the United states and gaining the ability to manipulate its banking system and financial markets (Phinney). Roughly two-thirds of Russia’s economy is under sway of crime syndicates, and protection rackets have been the norm since the collapse of communism(Phinney). The Russian Mafia and the antifada becoming nuclear powers or the likelihood that some of this dangerous material being transferred to rogue states like Iran, Iraq, or North Korea. Even if the uranium and plutonium are not used to build nuclear technology, these materials are radioactive and therefore intrinsically dangerous to any one who comes in contact with them, particularly the smugglers themselves. In March 1995, U.S. Customs agents in Miami launched a two-year undercover investigation reaching into high-level official circles in Russian, Bulgaria, and Lithuania. It would become the first credible case of a scenario to smuggle tactical nuclear weapons into the U.S. (Frontline). According to Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, the government agency in charge of combating organized crime, 40 percent of private business, 60 percent of state-owned enterprises and between 50 percent and 85 percent of banks are controlled by organized crime. Russia crime organizations are not even the source when it comes to smuggling Nuclear Weapons. Warheads come from one place, the military. There is major corruption in the Russian Military. Although, you can make your own type of Nuclear weapons, but this is a different case.
It is thought that the Russian Mafia has existed in Russia for several centuries. When Russia was still the Soviet Union, corruption began to develop because of the Communist era. Citizens were so desperate to pay bills, buy groceries, and more; that they began to steal from one another, as well as get into forms of organized crime. As the Soviet Union fell Russian organized crime was unleashed into the world, from Russia to the U.S and more. Russian organized crime groups commit crimes such as; extortion, white captive trafficking, automobile theft, counterfeiting, hostage taking, prostitution, weapons smuggling, murder, drug trafficking, and fraud.
The Remlinger brothers, Sonny and Joseph have stepped up their game with fellow band mates Ben Bluml and Adam Smith. Adam is a great blend of skill and a spirited personality rounding out the band’s image. Ben is concealed beneath his hair and is rather quiet adding a little mystery to the musician’s behavior. The sweet Remlinger’s are Southern gentleman and are certainly charming. When the foursome is performing at each gig they are showing how quickly they are improving and coming together as a band. In a city where every other neighbor seems to be in a band, one can foresee this band is actually finding their niche.
You would think it is the typical organized crime things like drug trafficking, gambling, or anything else the typical criminals do. Instead Russians are involved in things like a broad array of frauds and scams, including health care fraud, insurance scams, stock frauds, antiquities swindles, forgery and gasoline tax evasion schemes (Finckenauer, n.d.). Russians are number one in the United States committing any type of fraud. Something else the Russians are doing is moving into having legitimate business. They are doing this because that way they have a way to launder their dirty money. An example of a scam the Russians had in the United States involved with the American Mafia was the fuel oil scam. It worked by using a “daisy chain with a vanishing point,” gasoline was transferred on paper from one bogus company to another (Abadinsky, 2012). You paid taxed when the gasoline was finally sold but the company buying the gas existed only on paper so it meant that it never existed. When investigators noticed what was going on it was too late because the company that bought that gas disappeared with no trace. Everything was destroyed. They could not charge them with anything. Also, in order to buy gasoline you need an IRS excise tax Certification of Exemption. They obtained these licenses by buying out legitimate companies or just making fake papers. This is one way they made millions for
The Game was born and raised in the first birthplace of gangsta rap, Compton, California. He received his nickname from his grandmother, who said he was always "game" for anything. His half brother grew up in a different neighborhood and was an active member of the Cedar Block Piru Bloods. As their relationship grew, The Game became a member of the Cedar Block Pirus as well, all while living in a Crip neighborhood. The Game eventually got into the lifestyle of hustling with his brother. Car thefts, drug dealing, and shootings pushed his mother to kick him out of the house. He moved into the projects in a nearby city with his bro in 2000 and took over the local drug trade. Late in the night of October 2001, he was shot five times during a home invasion, one bullet in brushed his heart. While in the hospital The Game decided to change his life, put his past behind him, and pursue his dream of becoming a rapper. His brother encouraged him and told him he always had a way with his words.. The Game began to study classic albums of great rappers such as Notorious B.I.G., Snoop Dogg, Nas, and Jay-Z. Soon after, The Game was discovered by rap pioneer and former N.W.A member, Dr. Dre, who signed The Game to his Aftermath Entertainment label. Prior to rapping, at 6'4" The Game was a star basketball player at Compton High School. He received a basketball scholarship to Washington State University but was dismissed from the school during his freshman year over drug allegations... He grew up with NBA star Baron Davis, who is now the godfather to The Game's son, Harlem Caron Taylor. The concept of The Game with G-Unit was to help increase the popularity of one of the leading acts in rap and hip-hop, and to also mainly increase the popularity of G-Unit on the West Coast. Furthermore, the popularity in general of G-Unit also with the support of Dr. Dre would help make sure The Game had high album sales. Dr. Dre and 50 Cent were producers on his debut album The Documentary, an album that explores The Game's life while he was pursuing a career in the rap industry. Though The Game is a was artist, he has already made some hip hop rivals: among them Suge Knight and Death Row Records, and Jay-Z of Roc-A-Fella Records, Yukmouth, Memphis Bleek, Joe Budden, and even mentor 50 Cent.
Picture an innocent looking online marketplace, similar to those in which you shop for discounted books on Amazon or cheap surfboards on eBay, except you have the option to purchase marijuana, acid, fake passports and licenses, hacking services and potentially the ability to “order a hit” on someone, this my friends, is the Silk Road and it does have a captain. He goes by the alias of “Dread Pirate Roberts,” he’s pocketed $80 million in commissions, and he is the operator of one of the most notorious online black markets which accumulated $1.2 billion in total sales with its nearly one million customers. Shortened to DPR, Ross William was the operator of the site Silk Road, until he was eventually arrested at the beginning of October this year, with the fully operational website and assets summing $4 million being seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Being named after the historical network of trades routes that allowed the integration of cultures spanning from Europe to Asia, Silk Road was home to trade of all sorts of contraband by allowing goods and services to be traded illegally, basically operating outside the formal economy. In order to understand organized crime in Russia today and its affect on the Russian economy, one must examine its roots in the Soviet Union. Although many acknowledge the existence of crime syndicates in the USSR, few are aware of their extent during the 70’s, 80’s, and early 90’s. As early as the 1970’s, the Russian mafia had advanced to the status of primary protectors and beneficiaries in the robust Soviet shadow economy (Anderson, 1995, 341...
Stephanie Hepburn states that, "The US is one of the top 10 destinations for human trafficking—with tens of thousands of people trafficked into the country each year." Many people believe that since the United States is the land of opportunities, events like human trafficking do not exist; little do they know it happens everywhere. Human trafficking is a worldwide problem that plagues the United States; many people are oblivious to the issue and action needs to be taken to protect the innocent people who are involved.
The rise of the crisis came without warning. Cubans caught word of the arrival and deployment of these missiles and hundreds of reports were sent to Miami, Florida. These missiles were perceived to be mediocre. Therefore the missiles were not taken seriously by the people. CIA agents further explored information on the missiles in Cuba and discovered transport trucks carrying large cylindrical cargo that could not make turns without backing up and also discovered some of the locations of the suspected missiles. As a result, photographs secretly taken from an air force operated American U-2 spy plane verified Soviet missile build sites.
The Russian Federation continues to pursue a program of dramatic economic, political and social transformation. Despite President Yeltsin's successful re-election campaign, continued economic reform remains subject to the influence of the communist controlled State Duma (the Russian parliament). Even the most optimistic scenarios envision a protracted process as Russia continues the task of fashioning a legal foundation for commerce, rationalizing the regulatory and taxation regimes with which businesses must comply, and completing the task of creating from scratch a highly effective and consistent customs administration. The duration and final outcome of this process are still uncertain. Consequently, Russia offers U.S. business both high risk, and potentially high rewards.
the article starts out with a clear emphasis on the cooperation between the different segments of society; cooperation between the state, civil society , and religious groups and institutions on the issues of human trafficking and prostitution, stating how they are immoral, illegal, unethical and how they should be considered as a taboo by societies in Europe, especially Cyprus since the exploitation of women has been rapidly increasing recently. Where all the 800bars and 70 cabarets take advantage of uneducated, poor, unlucky and socially corrupted women at the cost of reasons such as profit and pleasure, which may seem as lame reasons when compared to the life and future of a young woman. The article also states that some of these women, coming from countries such as Romania, Russia. Bulgaria, the Ukraine, Moldavia, and Belarus enter Cyprus unaware of what is included in their job descriptions, and are forced into prostitution by traffickers, which is humanly unacceptable and should without a doubt be banned from societies regardless of what kind of profit they may bring to the traffickers and to the public even as a whole.
In modern context, the term Russian oligarchs refers to extremely wealthy business magnates. Prior to the disintegration of the USSR a relatively small group of influential people had already existed within the borders: the ’nomenklatura’. Many of the former oligarchs held strong positions as Soviet-era functionaries, such as deputy ministers, department heads, who were either working for the Soviet government or supervising several enterprises (Braguinsky 316). After the collapse of the Soviet Union in December 1991, the already influential figures “converted their de facto control into ownership rights” (Guriev and
Also what helped is the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty that put so many restrictions of the testing of many different kinds of nuclear weapons. Additional treaties and agreements have governed nuclear weapons stockpiles between the countries with the two largest stockpiles, the United States and the Soviet Union, and later between the United States and Russia. These include treaties such as SALT II (never ratified), START I (expired), INF, START II (never ratified), SORT, and New START, as well as non-binding agreements such as SALT I and the Presidential Nuclear Initiatives of
The four hundred years between the collapse of the Han dynasty (206 B.C.E.- C.E. 220) and the establishment of the Tang dynasty (618-906) mark a division in the history of China. During this period, foreign invasion, transcontinental trade, and missionary ambition opened the region to an unprecedented wealth of foreign cultural influences. These influences were both secular and sacred. Nomads, merchants, emissaries and missionaries flooded into China, bringing new customs, providing exotic wares, and generating new religious beliefs. Foremost among these beliefs was Buddhism, born in India, but which now took root in China. These new influences entered China by a vast network of overland routes, popularly known as the Silk Road
Russia has a high crime rate also. Their crime rate is so high that if you were to go to the store like the grocery store, when you walk in the store u have to lock your things up in a locker and shop. When you got through shopping then you were to pick up your stuff out of your locker. The whole time that you are shopping there are people watching your every move. The reason why the crime rate is so high is because they work hard to get paid a little amount of money. Russia’s unemployment rate is very high. There are not enough jobs in Russia for everyone to have a job. For example if you were to get a job at a fast food restaurant, you were only getting paid a little or nothing an hour and that’s not even close to minuan wage in America.
With the world changing and advancing with technology, criminal organizations are taking advantage of new opportunities. The advancement of travel, ease of communication, and an increase in demand, has all contributed to the globalization of crime. Every nation has been affected by the globalization of crime and the problem continues to grow.
