The Bible is by far the greatest literary work in history. Having the opportunity to go purchase and hold a copy of the Holy Bible is both a blessing and an honor. A book that has come through the ages, passed down and protected for decades. But like all books in history there was the original pages, chapters and writing; the very first time the pen met paper and words were created. Unlike other books when the ink dried on the pages that created the Bible the world would be changed, challenged and convicted. Where are the original writings today? It is sad but there are no discoveries of the originals and it is unlikely that will change. The first text of the Bible were probably written papyrus which would not have endured time, but would have began breaking down some years later. Catherine. Tischendorf goal was to rewrite an original Bible as if he was the actual original writer. Up until this point he didn't have the proper manuscripts with enough or the best information to go off. He traveled many places and published text and even deciphered the Ephraem Manuscript to financially support his travels. Until he found himself at the foot of Mount Sinai at the monastery that once protected monks. St. Catherine's is known for having many different manuscript, although there might only be bits and pieces not a complete copy of the Bible. On his first travels there he found a few pages of what he was searching for. In the original Greek text parts of the Old testament. Unable to uncover more he left and published the pieces that he found. The first trip to St Catherine's was in 1844 that revealed fragment of his dream. He then returned in 1853 striking out but upon his return for the third time in 1859 he would reach the high of his discoveries.
