How do you know that the Bible is reliable? What proof do you have? There are multiple ways to prove that the Bible is indeed true, and reliable. A few ways to prove that the Bible is reliable is through Prophecy, Archeology, and by the reliability of the scribes. Prophecy is seen throughout the entire Bible, and can confidently prove its reliability. First you look for a Prophecy and then find the fulfillment in the Bible. For example, Psalm 41:9 “Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.” This verse clearly says the Jesus, the Messiah, will be betrayed by a friend. In Luke 22:47-48, “While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading …show more content…
Rule number one: They could only use clean animal skins, both to write on, and even to bind manuscripts. Rule number two: Each column of writing could have no less than forty-eight, and no more than sixty lines. Rule number three: The ink must be black, and of a special recipe. Rule number five: They must verbalize each word aloud while they were writing. Rule number six: They must wipe the pen and wash their entire bodies before writing the word "Jehovah," every time they wrote it. Rule number seven: There must be a review within thirty days, and if as many as three pages required corrections, the entire manuscript had to be redone. Rule number eight: The letters, words, and paragraphs had to be counted, and the document became invalid if two letters touched each other. The middle paragraph, word and letter must correspond to those of the original document. Rule number nine: The documents could be stored only in sacred places (synagogues, etc). As no document containing God's Word could be destroyed, they were stored, or buried, in a genizah - a Hebrew term meaning "hiding place." These were usually kept in a synagogue or sometimes in a Jewish cemetery. And that's not even all of it those were only the really important rules. Who would go through all of that for a book with no truth, the Bible has be true for someone to go through all of that. Also they were martyrs
William C. Plachers’ article, “Is the Bible True?” explores deeper into the subject of the Bible and if it content it contains is credible information. Through Plachers’ statement, “We need to understand the genre to understand a text. Reading a text literally is not always reading it faithfully,” we are able to reach the idea that the Bible is in fact true, but it all depends on how the individual interprets the text.
And muders. Judgment, mercy and faith cannot be found in these men who were only
Now I am going to put the Old Testament to the test to see if it has credibility to be the trustworthy document that it claims. "Religion, if it is worth believing, must be based on facts. Yes, there is room for faith, but unless it is faith in facts, faith is not only useless but destructive .The Bible cannot afford to have historical errors.
William C. Placher in his article, “Is the Bible true?”, attempts to explain to the reader the reasons why we can believe in the Bible. Placher states that to understand how the Bible is true we need to first accept its genres, recognize its attitudes toward historical details, and consider the social context of the language in which it was written. When a person understands the meaning of the Bible they then can trust the Bible as a guide to life, and a way of understanding the world. After reading the article, multiple times, I have come to the conclusion that I do not believe Placher proved his thesis with the points he presented.
Pope Urban II persuaded those to go to war he promised that if anyone died they would go straight to heaven. When gathering the army to fight, those that fought were uneducated, poor and unable to fight. Little did they know that the journey itself would kill most of the men, the elements took lives before they even reached Jerusalem. In July of 1099 they arrived in Jerusalem
The topic we learned that was similar to this was the discovery of ancient copies of bibles. There has been over twenty four thousand copies of bibles found by the archeological digs, and these facts support our reliability for the historical accuracy of the bible. The copies of the bible were found in forms of papyrus, stone carvings, and etc. This discovery supported not only the historical reliability, but the accuracy of the bible itself. There was more than twenty four thousand copies found, but the errors found all together was under one percent. I thought this was a pretty good evidence to use in apologetics because there was many authors and scribes writing the bible, but what they wrote was all the same thing. There can`t be a coincidence where everyone made up something random, and it all turned out to be the same idea.
Inspiration can be defined as God’s ongoing and dynamic revelation of truths to humans in order for us to know how to live and deal with spiritual and ethical encounters, by instilling wisdom and understanding of his word. Since humans wrote the Bible there is room for idiosyncrasies, intelligence, historic context, social context, and geographical context to influence scripture. However, God’s revelation of himself and his character prevails through the Bible. There is a dimension of God that can only be reached through personal encounters of His truths, through prayerful reflection of the Bible.
To begin, before a person can debate the validity of anything, they must first understand the topic they are debating. So is the case here. A person must first understand the Bible and its origins before they can try and prove or disprove it. The Bible itself is composed of 66 books divided int...
Every author depicts information in light of purposes and themes. Sometimes these themes are moral issues, emotions, or existential concepts. In the case of the Old Testament, the authors wrote books that highlighted various ideas such as love, obedience, and suffering. Despite various subtopics, the Old Testament clearly demonstrates the theme of God’s faithfulness to his followers.
The historical reliability of the Bible is the first matter that needs to be discussed. There are three criteria that the military historian C. Sanders lists as principles for documentary historical proof: the bibliographical test, internal evidence test, and the external evidence test (McDowell 43). The bibliographical test is the examination of text from the documents that have reached us. The reliability of the copies of the New Testament is tested by the number of manuscripts (MSS) and the time intervals between the time in which the piece of literature was written and our earliest copy. There are more than 5,300 Greek manuscripts of the New Testament and 10,000 Latin vulgate manuscripts, not to mention the other various translations.
would be in olden days, the pen they would have use is father and ink.
To forsake a God-given gift is not a good idea. God gave his word to the world. From Scripture, his word, comes revelation and understanding of not only who he is, but also who we are in him. Living without the knowledge and wisdom of Scripture would only lead to an unscrupulous and impure life. God gave his word to the world for a reason, and that gift should not be taken lightly. Through it he reveals the desire he has for the lives of his people. Because it is God’s word, Scripture is a guide that his people need to live by.
We have many tools to assist us in discerning whether something is biblical, but the most important is prayer or talking to God. We must not be swayed by what is popular or easy, but stick to the truths of the Bible. It is also important to look at the historical context in order to discern what the Bible says and use that to classify something as biblical or nonbiblical. We shoud always read the surrounding text to ensure that we get the correct interpretation of the text. By using the thought experiment, we can be assured that we adher to the original text meaning and convey that to our current audience.
...e unfolds, the belief in the theories presented becomes easy to understand in that the Word of God is real and infallible. It is truth and has authority for God breathed and inspired people to write. This prophesies happened in due time and the wisdom presented became guidelines to live in happiness and peace, notwithstanding, grace and eternal life. The bible instructs us to be faithful to His Great commission and to live our life in a way that pleases Him.
