The study of physical activity has rapidly evolved over past decades. Accompanying it’s growing importance has been the diversity of studies contributing to the many aspects involved when examining physical activity (Karageorhis, Priest, 2012). . Pre – existing studies regarding music and exercise were scarce (13) when first evaluated by (Karageorhis, Terry, 1997), and when reevaluated in again in 2011 (Karageorhis, Priest, 2012). the number of significant studies on the subject had increased many times over (62) . Along with an increase in the number of studies has also come an increase in validity due to negligence when accounting for variables that would influence the studies. The selection of music that accompanies exercise has significant importance. Music that has personal relevance ( such as the subject personally selecting the music) or evokes specific emotional responses elicit more significant responses in performances. Typically this is reflected by above expected levels of power, endurance and strength (Biagini, Brown, Coburn, Judelson, Statler, Bottaro, Tran, Longo, 2012). These physical manifestations of musical stimulation are also accompanied and related to psychological benefits that are induced.. Specifically musical stimulation has been revealed to produce benefits in physical performance (Jarraya, Chtourou, Souissi). Studies regarding this subject have been performed on subjects at Universities, and henceforth subjects are aged in a range from 18-21 years of age. This will be an examination of studies involving subjects that fit this criteria. This unique stimulation touches upon many aspects of physical functioning that when combined accumulatively produce noticeable variations from a control subject (not exp...

Occasionally music is used as medicine. One scholar shows that music can lower blood pressure, speed up stroke recovery, help you fall asleep, and help relieve pain (Surprising Effects of Music). Many schools provide a challenging curriculum for their students. Music classes would give students a chance to relax. Research demonstrates that liste...

Music’s influence is felt everywhere and it brings about a stir of emotions in many people. Whether it is something as simple as relationship trouble or something deeper and more profound, such as one’s cultural history, music serves as a stimulant to the mind and in other ways, a stimulant to the body. Such music as country, rock, reggae and Zydeco all succeed in stimulating the body and convincing it that dancing will only increase the satisfactory feeling that the music tends to give off.

Whether you’re a devoted music enthusiast or you just listen to the radio to pass time, we all listen to music. However, when listening to music, nobody stops to think about what they are doing. Nobody stops to contemplate how the music they are listening to affects them psychologically. We just listen to the music and enjoy ourselves. In fact however, a great deal of research has been done to determine the psychophysiological effects of music. Many studies have been conducted to determine whether music can help people who suffer from psychological and medical disorders, Scholars continually debate whether music can influence behavior, and researchers are attempting to understand what is happening in our brain when we listen to music.
Music produces both emotional and physical responses (Clair & Memmott, 2008). It aids and improves social interaction, and provides effective communication and emotional expression. Music stimulates associations and triggers reminiscence. When experiencing recent inactivity, discomfort, and changes in
It is true that music has a compact link to our emotions. Music assists people to overcome the bad situations in their life, just like it did for Sonny, the barmaid, or some other people in the Harlem. Music has a tremendous effect on people’s minds because it makes them feel relaxed and comfortable, especially with the soft classical music. It helps distressed people stay smooth and peaceful. In fact, music is a remarkable way to ease stress.

There have always been discussions of the effects music has on ones behavior, and how it’s related to Psychology. The truth has never really been verified among common knowledge, but it’s usually something that intrigues people. They say heavy metal and rap can make teenagers violent, sad and depressing music can make teenagers sad and depressed, and some say it’s best to listen to classical music when doing schoolwork because it makes your brain more active. There have been many people that reported how music has effects on their behavior. It can lift their mood, “fuel the fire” when they’re angry, or even make it easier for them to fall asleep. People never really get the chance to research the actual science of music, and how it changes people attitudes.
Extensive research has shown that using dance movements in a therapy setting can activate several brain functions at once such as a more rational thinking, the ability to recall more information and also to be more physically active. When in a dance therapy session, most instructors will start by playing music of several different genres in order to evoke expressionism in each individual by allowing them to feel the music within their movements. Sometimes one song can make one person feel happy, another sad, and another energized. By observing the different emotions that the music and the movements have such an impact on the patient, and how it may effect a person differently allows them to express their individuality. Dance can open up a creative outlook within the mind of an individual by allowing them to embody their emotions within the movements and convey how the music makes them feel inside. Dance is also a tool for stress release, dance therapy is a great stress reliever, not only because it is great physical excessive for the body but it is also emotionally therapeutic. Dancing can bring changes to emotions and attitudes almost instantly. Dance therapy can also help develop higher functions motor skills by incorporating stretching and deep breathing exercises to strengthen muscles and increase flexibility. This can benefit the patient’s motor skills by focusing on strength, coordination and balance. Not only does dance improve motor skills, it can also increase confidence and self esteem by creating a common ground between the therapist and the patient through movement. This allows for a positive and safe learning environment and lets the participant know they are welcome and that this will be a pleasant and fun experience. These
