If he has the patience and dedication, he is capable of being a physical therapist. Once I learned about eight years of college and tons of paperwork, my decision changed. With others it can be different. I think the best part about physical therapy is helping people getting back on their feet, but I think the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. Others might think differently.
A physical therapist has many important duties. One duty of a physical therapist is to examine the patient’s movement by having them do a series of exercises. These exercises include walking and standing, or movement of the injury. After they examine the patient they plan a care plan for the patient. The care plan is different for every patient. Another duty of a physical therapist is to use the exercises, stretches, hands-on physical therapy and equipment to help ease pain, increase mobility, prevent further injury or pain, and make easier health and wellness for the patient. Also to educate the family about what to expect of the recovery process. The average salary of a physical therapist is $79, 860. Some other jobs that are in the same “career cluster” are speech therapist, occupational therapist, chiropody, flexibility/ strength trainer, and audiology. To other professional disciplines this article explains the difference between each of us, yet can also express our relation to one another. The basic goal of all therapeutic disciplines is to better our clients life, through physical, speech or occupational therapy. Every discipline targets different goals, may it be body mechanics, reducing a stutter or buttoning a shirt, at the end of the day our clients well being may it be through science, art or both is all that matters. The first thing I discovered about a Physical Therapist is what they exactly do. During my undergraduate career, I have been heavily exposed to the field of physical medicine. I have worked as a PT technician for almost a year in an outpatient clinic, and have actively sought out other observation in other physical therapy settings. I have had the chance to observe PTs in acute care at the local hospital and a pediatric therapy center. Through these observation opportunities, I have a gained a great understanding of the role the physical therapist has within society as well as the benefits of participating in physical therapy. Physical therapists are allied health professionals who collaborate with other health care providers to assess, develop and organize a treatment plan to ultimately improve the quality of life for their patients. It is the duty of the physical therapists to create and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, alleviate pain, increase strength, and enhance or remedy incapacitating conditions resulting from injury or disease. It is crucial that physical therapists have the ability to properly educate individuals on their role and purpose in the patients’ continuum of care. PTs must also inform people about the great benefits of participating in physical therapy. A few benefits of physical therapy include: reducing or eliminating pain, recovering from an injury, improving mobility, avoiding surgery, and managing other health conditions. As a PT technician, I have had the opportunity to understand the purpose and value behind therapeutic modalities, prescribed exercises and manual therapy techniques. Consequently, I have had explain my knowledge of the function and benefits of certain therapy practices to patients. My experiences in different physical therapy settings have given me a strong comprehension of a physical therapists role in

The subject came so naturally to me and I decided to continue my enrollment in sports medicine courses throughout my high school education. As my senior year of high school concluded, I explored the idea of a career in physical therapy by job shadowing at the Idaho Sports Medicine Institute (ISMI). After observing the PTs at ISMI, I was immediately drawn to a career in physical medicine. A few months later, I started my education at Idaho State and felt exactly like I did when I started sports medicine in high school. I was absolutely enthralled with my classes, naturally excelled in all of my coursework, and always had PT school in the back of my mind. I knew I would have to work extremely hard to develop a strong undergraduate transcript and build a competitive application. Throughout my undergraduate career, I have worked relentlessly to maintain academic excellence and currently have a 3.91 GPA. I have also succeeded in making the College of Education’s Dean’s List for five semesters. Unfortunately, I did not receive the honor of making the Dean’s List on one occasion, as I was .02 points below the minimum

Physical therapy is a fun and exciting healthcare profession that helps people. It is all about helping other people who have problems with their body, muscles, joints and other parts of their body.
