Physical therapy is a specific service that helps patients post injury, from walking to using their hands. It helps the patients regain mobility in parts of their bodies that need it. A physical therapist knows how to handle patients to ensure optimal recovery to regain the normalness in their life back. Physical therapists often work long hours and endure strenuous days, all while on their feet. One of my long-standing goals is to open my own physical therapy practice, which affords freedom and flexibility as well as the challenge of operating a business. A physical therapist makes on average between $86,000 and $90,000 per year while working for a practice or an organization such as a hospital (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). In conclusion, opening one’s own clinic can be a grueling task but the feeling of achievement is way more than the road taken to get there. Having one’s own space and being your own boss can in many ways be beneficial. Working long hours and always being on your feet can feel a lot more satisfying when working for yourself. The challenge that comes with opening your own business is one that makes you strives to be better and bigger. Opening your own business isn’t the end; it is a journey that one must keep providing the best of the best service to their clients. The road to opening my physical therapy clinic may certainly be arduous but the destination -- the reality of working in a practice I created to help people heal and thrive -- is well worth the journey.
