How Hard Is It To Accept Yourself Just The Way You Are?
It 's pretty darn hard, especially if we are not living up to what society has told us we need to be. We have learned, by watching and listening to other people, that we need to live up to some sort of standard. Everyone has a different standard because everyone has listened to a combination of different people. However, if we were all to compare notes, we would see that perfection is the standard we are all reaching for. It just depends on what our definition of perfection is.
We say things to ourselves constantly to remind ourselves of just how imperfect we are. Thinks like:

- I 'm not funny enough

It seems as though saying these things is a way to remind ourselves that we need to become someone different, which is simply a reminder that we don 't accept ourselves the way that we are. However, psychologists say that this method doesn 't work. It only promotes more anxiety about who we are and who we are not, and as we interact with other people and do things in our life, those words suck out the enjoyment of the process and remind us of just how unacceptable we really are.
Perfection Is Not Real
You already know this! It 's impossible to achieve perfection. You would have to be a robot, and even then, you would be programmed by a human, so you wouldn 't be completely perfect.
We want perfection to be real, though. We believe that if perfection is achieved, then we can avoid all the judgement and pain that comes from being not perfect, which is the root of the problem. Learning to deal with judgement and the pain of not being perfect is one real way to start accepting yourself just the way you are. They stay with the trend and do whatever it tells them to. The downside is that they don’t have the time or courage to grow their individuality like they were meant to. The Somebodies are blind to this and slowly disappear into the crowd as if they never truly were a single individual.
We often think that our main goals are linked to perfection, however, we are unaware of the devastating effect this unattainable concept has on our outlook on life when we cannot achieve it. Though the textbook definition of perfection is, “the quality or condition of being perfect and without flaws”, it is a vice that harbors many doubts and insecurities and holds us back from things we want to do for fear of not being good. Perfection is a concept that cannot be achieved as it does not exist.
Perfection is not within the realms of possibility, but I always knew if I aim for perfection, I could at least achieve excellence. This is the mantra I have followed in every walk of life. I have always learnt to appreciate everything I have taken up, thoroughly and to the fullest. In this competitive pace of life, I have learnt a lot from my experiences and I am still striving to learn more. I constantly challenged myself in an effort to develop a rational mindset and approach to problem solving.
What 's the point, if we expect others to be real, but we ourselves are not? Let us be honest and real here to accept that this is how the world operates. There would still be people, who would misunderstand, underestimate us, treat people as resources and seek problems in everything we do. Let that not affect us from being what we are and what we do. I have always strived to be the best person I could be, but there came a point where my mental line between attainable and ideal situations was blurred. By the time I was 12 years old, I was putting so much pressure on myself to achieve perfection that I had severe anxiety and numerous mental breakdowns before school. Eventually, I was helped to realize that imperfection , making mistakes, and accepting who you are boosts your self-confidence and overall health, both mental and physical.
We all want to be someone and what happens outside of our bodies has an influence so great that we can’t control what others think but have an enormous impact on how they think it.
