The Beatles
Even today many people can close their eyes and remember the smooth, classic rock from the 60’s and which band far surpassed the rest. The Beatles engulfed what it meant to be a good, classic rock band. Alongside that, they were able to create music the right way, no auto tune and all natural. This was the beginning of a new era in music, one that would become synonymous with the band the Beatles. The Beatles have benefitted society by creating many positive songs that have caused enjoyment due to their uplifting nature, encompassing what it means to be an innovative rock band, and by donating and participating in many charities.

John Lennon urged people to support his cause to give children in 3rd world countries solar powered laptops (Simpson). This charity that John Lennon supports hopes to give underprivileged children the ability to learn, so they can make something of themselves in life. John Lennon was a very charitable man and this charity simply shows the impact he has on others. The Beatles had a charity concert to raise money for the United Cerebral Palsy of NYC and Retarded Infant services (“New York”). These charities that the Beatles donated their proceeds to were given a lot of money to help children in need. This shows how kind and charitable the Beatles are because they set aside their own time and talents to help children in need. In 1971, a charity concert was held for the people of Bangladesh (a war ridden country at them time) in Madison Square Garden. Bothe Ringo Starr and George Harrison performed in this concert that raised $243,000 overnight (Thomson). Two of the Beatles set aside their own time to perform again to raise money for poor, war-plagued people. They not only helped raise money, but they also helped spread awareness for this cause. The Beach Boys had many different fans of many different ages, but their catchy 60’s songs usually pulled in schoolkids (“Beach Boys”). This explains how people loved the Beach Boys music sometimes even more than the Beatles. This was mostly due to the fact that they also appealed more to a younger demographic than the Beatles, but they still had a large amount of fans that were teens and adults. Many Beach Boys members especially Brian had an amazing talent for harmonic invention, complex singing, and were very skilled musicians (“Beach Boys”). The music made by the Beach Boys was considered innovative for its time. Although the Beach Boys might not have changed the industry like the Beatles did, their music was still very innovative. The Beach Boys were able to create many popular songs. 22 of their songs made it on to the top 40 charts (“Beach Boys”). This statistic shows just how popular the Beach Boys were and the impact they made on the music industry. Although they didn’t create as many hits as the Beatles, the Beach Boys were still able to create an amount that greatly competed with the Beatles. In the end, the Beach Boys have done many great things in the music industry, but the Beatles have far surpassed them when it comes to popularity and charitable
