The Bahamas is a nation in the North Atlantic Ocean, south-east of Florida. Officially it is known as the Commonwealth of the Bahamas with a population of 391,232. Bahamian culture has a unique style heavily influenced by African and British culture. This paper will cover the cultural and social infrastructure of the Caribbean archipelago country known as The Bahamas.

Most islands in The Bahamas have good cellular reception but the more remote locations do not. Telecommunications are ran by Batelco the Bahamian government. Internet in the islands are broke into 4 providers with the Cable Bahamas company being the only company able to establish a center to provide web hosting sites for foreign companies. The Bahamas cable company is also building a high speed fiber optic system to communicate with the United States. Technology is behind when compared to the United States, the island has been trying to improve this area since 1992.
The Commonwealth of The Bahamas is a very peaceful place and became a British crown colony in 1718. Slavery is and has been unacceptable since 1807 when it was abolished by the British. The Royal Bahamas Defense Force is the navy, it makes up the entire armed forces. The RBDF has had past issues with CUBA back in 10 may 1980. The Cubans sank two royal ships while trying to poach in Bahamian waters. After attacking the boats the Cubans fired at the royal marines in the middle of the water. Miss Bijoux a single parent lost her job two months ago. One night she lay down on her bed thinking of all the possibilities of obtaining a job. Deep in thought how is she going to care for her children, and how is she going to help her twelve year old pregnant daughter? Lost to the world her phone rings, hello she said the caller answer hi, is this Bijoux residence? I am calling from PMH (Princess Margaret Hospital). Mrs. Bijoux drop the phone and runs to her children’s rooms. When she reaches to her son’s room he was not there, she kneel down on the floor and recites a prayer “Lord please let my son be okay”. Immediately, she calls her family to pick her up and drive her to the Hospital. When she arrives at the hospital she saw her lifeless son on the ventilator in pulmonary distress with blood stains over his clothes. Without shedding a tear, she waited patiently for good news. Unfortunately, her son expires three hours later. Mrs. Bijoux is a victim of a drive by shooting in Nassau Village. While the Bahamas is battling against the economic crisis, the three major issues in the Bahamian society are crimes, unemployment and sexual abuse.
Over the last five hundred years the Cayman Islands have had a rich and diverse history. They grew from being very isolated islands inhabited mostly by crocodiles and turtles to being one of the worlds premier tourist and financial centers. Being so small and isolated has given the Caymanians a strong sense of history and culture that is distinct, even from their Caribbean neighbors. Through research it was found that there are three theories that can explain the formation of a Caribbean society. These three theories are Creole, Plantation and Plural society and they all were able to explain a lot about the Caribbean society over years. Grenada is a country located in the middle of the Caribbean and is made up of three separate islands, Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. The small country is only twice the size of Washington D.C, the largest city has only 40,000 people. Grenada is known for surfing due to the lush and tropical climate and since it is in the Caribbean it also rains a lot. The rainy season lasts from June to December with the peak being in November. People who live in Grenada speak mainly English, but it’s their own version, for example to them “one time” means “at the same time” and “if” means “what”.
